Frustrated with Member Services!!! UPDATE post#14

I called to make our reservations at the 7 month booking day back on the 14th of this month. I was able to get the first 5 days of my reservation. The 6th day was not available, but the 7th day was available. I was told, I could not wait list the 6th day or book the 7th day. I was told I had to call back on Monday (today) to be added on the wait list for the 6th day and I still could not book the last day until Tuesday (tomorrow.)

When I called today, I found out that I could have been put on the wait list FIVE days ago!!! Now I am disappointed that I am probably behind anyone who called during these days.

I even mentioned to the 1st CM that this process didn't seem right to me and that I have always been added to the wait list on the first day I called to make reservations.

Has DVC changed things? Should I call and ask my position on the wait list reflect the day I originally called?

Ugh! I still have to call tomorrow to reserve the last day that has been available since last week....if it is still available

Which resort & room type are you trying to get? Late April shouldn't be too bad.

I think you should have been able to waitlist the 6th night that day. The 7th night is more tricky since you don't have the 6th night, I think you would have to wait until tomorrow (7 months from the 20th).

MS does have it's problems. The running joke here on the DIS is if you don't like that answer that the Adviser gives you, keep calling back until you get the answer that you want.

My understanding is the same you were told last week. If the CM today had tried it a week ago I think they would have found they couldn't.

They do need to know, so they can get things fixed!

I wondered the same thing!! Wow, 7 month window and waitlisting already. I'm guessing BLT??

Yep, since the OP didn't have the night before the last day, it would be considered a new reservation, so that part is correct for the 20th.

I have to start calling next week, but I'm flexible in my choices, so it's all good.

I was able to get all but one day (7 out of 6) I am wait listed for the one day and I did ask to be placed on the wait list per the original date I made my reservations. Who know if they did it or not, but....

Anyway, now I just sit and wait with crossed fingers that the wait list comes through for that one (Fri.) night.

I was trying to get BCV. My trip is during Spring Break for New England. We go every year during this time and it is ALWAYS busy.

We always go during MA April school vacation week, too. I booked our home resort (BLT) at 11 months and didn't try to change it. Good luck on getting your room and see you there!

Thanks Mousefan! We are from MA too. I thought the crowds this past April were the worst I had ever seen in the history of our family visits. It was CRAZY!!!!

BTW, I stayed at BLT 2 trips ago and loved it!!!

Yes, I agree. Last year was really crowded. We had bad luck with Easter falling so late, since that meant our vacation week was also the week before Easter. This year should be back to "normal", with just hordes of MA, CT, and NY guests on their April vacations!!

Just a suggestion: I also had a reservation w/all days but one (in the middle) available...so I booked that one on cash, thru MS (w/a DVC discount, as I recall--it might have been an AP discount, but think when you book w/cash thru MS it has to be the DVC discount)...

Anyway, my W/L came through about 6 weeks later and MS set it up so it automatically booked my points reservation, canceled my cash reservation, and linked everything into the 6-night stay, all on points (altho it looked like 3 separate reservations, on one travel plan).

That prevented me from doing online check-in, but that was the only problem...

Especially if that one missing night is something you could accommodate on cash if the villa never comes available on points, it takes away all the worry about being "homeless" for one night (and having to move the for the last day/night, too)--and the W/L works just the same way...

Just a thought. Obviously only you know your ability/willingness to spend cash for that one missing night, if you don't get your W/L...

I know its frustrating but I do know that the CM was correct about that last day. You can't book a day until the 7 month window opens unless it is part of a reservation that is continuous.

As far as the wait list, I am not sure. Here is hoping that your 7th night is still available.

Wow, that was fast!!!! The wait list came through. I got an email confirmation today.
