Frustrated - car rental

I joined DC thinking I'll save money on National. Turned out that all the codes from MouseSavaers expire on Sept 30. Ahhhhhh.

Anyone else got coupon ID that extend beyond that? We are going Nov 9 - 17. And I'm already Emerald Club member.
The "regular" EC rate (cheapest) is $186 (incld tax and everything) per week....

Did you try the DC contract #? Even though it says it expires 9/01, we got a discounted
rate in 10/01. It was the DC coupon we could not use past 9/01. You can find the DC contract # in the coupon book that comes with the DC membership info, and a coupon good through 4/02 (not through DC) on the transportation board here, through a link.

I just got a rate of $180.47 for an Intermediate using EI and Buena Vista Internet offer. We will have the car for 9 days in October. I thought that was a pretty good deal.

Use the DC contract number instead of the Emerald Club contract number and you should get a discount off the weekly rate. I recently made our ressie with National for Nov 23 to Dec 1. I used DC contract number and Buena Vista internet coupon. Our base rate is 146.99 for the week. In total, for 9 days, with the DC contract and BV coupon discounts, our rate is $188, tax included. Check the transportation board for posts about national and you should be able to find a link to the BV coupon. Go to DC web site, do a search for National, and you can find the DC contract number. Just to clarify, you can use two discounts on your reservation:

1. The Disney Club contract ID#. Yes, it supposedly "expires" 9/30, but I'm sure it will be renewed and many of us have used it on later reservations without any problems.

2. A coupon code. There is one on MouseSavers that anyone can use, which doesn't expire until sometime in 2002. It's supposedly for a weekend rental but I've also used it successfully on a weeklong rental. It takes about $25 off your rate. This is the one several people have referred to as the Buena Vista internet coupon.

The code for the Disney coupon from the Disney.com website is #10005317 and it expires 4/1/02. The link is here: www.disney.go.com so you can print the page out and not have problems when you arrive.

Another thing I wanted to point out to you. If you belong to the Emerald Club and want to use the Emerald Asile, you can pick a Full size car for the same price as an Intermediate. Try and you'll see!

By the way, the cheapest Compact Car rate I could get is to only use DC Contract ID $154/week incld everything. Emerald Club's Contract ID gave me $180. And I still cannot use any coupon ID (not contract#) posted, ie 10005317 & 10004932, or the Buena Vista internet rate. I got the message "Coupon capacity control coflict for rental location".

Oh well. I guess DC rate is not that bad. Thanks very much!

I got a July newsletter from DC the other day. In it were new coupons for the National Discounts. The contract and coupon #s were the same and I think it said the expiration dates were 12/31/01 now. I know that it was extended beyond 9/30/01 anyway. Keep an eye on your mailbox the newsletter should be coming soon.

at Budget and Americar. Have you tried them? There are several rental agencies at the Orlando airport. I'm also trying to get rates for L&M, but so far no luck finding them anywhere.

I found National with the DC contract code & the Buena vista coupon code to be the best deal, full size $218 for 11 days including all taxes & fees. Just make sure that when you compare rates they include these fees, because they can really add up!

I also got that coupon message when I tried for November dates. I have no idea what it means! But sometimes the National site is buggy, so try again tomorrow. Good luck!

I booked with Dollar and got a compact for $99.00 for a week and $22.99 each extra day.
I orginally booked for $146.00 for the week, called back months later to change the type of car (didn't think economy would be big enough) and got a cheaper rate $119.00 for the week. Then, I was online @ Dollar maybe 3 weeks ago and got an even better rate @ $99.00 for the week. I booked that ressie and cancelled the other one. The joys of booking online. By the way, it is for the week of November 29-December 8.

What are your dates? You may want to book something anyway, you can always cancel it!

I was getting that capacity error message before, but I just tried oct 23-30 for a compact car at National & was able to use both the DC discount contract number & the buena vista coupon (100005317). That coupon is good on compact through full size only.

The final rate was $115.74 including everything!!!

Hmmm.. Strange. Seems like everyone else can use the BV coupon ID with the DC contract#, except me. I wonder if it's the time (Nov9 - Nov17).
Strangely enough, the cheapest rate I have found so far is Hertz with my hubby's Gold club. (By the way, he got his free from American Bar Association.... which also give you bunches of discount in Starwood's hotels). And I'm going to check on L&M rental also.

I will make ressie within 2 weeks or so. Thanks everyone's help.

A lot of other codes and discounts are listed as availability has a lot to do with price. One car rental company may be cheaper on week and another may be cheaper the next.
