i just called wdw CR about 2007 packages and were told they will prob be released the middle of august. then i asked if they would be able to quote me prices for a few resorts over the internet...and all they did was give me how much it would be per night for each hotel which i found right here on DIS even though i asked for the price quote for a basic package. the CM was basically no help at all...and cost me a long distance phone call.

All they can quote you at this time is the per-night rate as the package rate is not out yet.

they should be able to give you the quote for the basic package....I know that a lot of people, me included, have already booked this for '07!!
Maybe try calling back again!

Just a question??? If anyone out there knows?????

We are interesting in booking 2007 trip as well, So I am awaiting the package prices too! My question is when they come out with their package prices will they have their dining plan prices for 2007 out too?

Unfortunately there are no package prices out yet, you like many of us are waiting (impatiently!!!) for them to announce them. I wish it wouldn't take so long either. Right now, you can book room only reservations, you do have the option of doing this and then changing your reservation when the packages come out if you choose to add anything.

isn't that all the basic package is...room only? They haven't done ticket prices or package component prices so I would think the basic package IS just room only but in a package booking #.

Yes, that's what the basic package is. We're booked for February 2-7 and they booked it as a basic so when the actual packages come out is easily converted. The only difference is that if you book "room only", you pay 1 nights deposit, whereas if you book the "basic package", which is still room only at this time you still pay the $200 deposit.

I too am waiting for packages, but not too impatiently. I reserved rooms at AKL, and figured that the 2006 prices for the dining/tickets we are looking at is about $535/adult and $297 for kids. So, I figure a bit of a bump to the 2006 prices and I have my guesstimated price for our packages. When the packages come out, I will add what I want. Hopefully AAA rate will be available on the room rate at the same time and I will be able to adjust the rate down a bit.

I don't have it in front of me, but I think when I booked my basic package through AAA for 11/28-12/7 it included something minor like a round of mini golf.

I understand that many of you have booked basic packages. But I've also read accounts where people found it cheaper to book room only and then get their tickets from other sources. Those of you who have booked packages, aren't you afraid that the packages won't be a great deal, and that you might end up paying more than if you book things individually?

Sometimes that can be true if Disney isn't running any promotions but if want the dining plan, you must be on a package (room, tickets and dining). Since you must by at least a 1 day base ticket, generally it isn't worth using a ticket broker than and having 2 tickets per person.

If you book everything individually, you can't add the dining plan.

After using the DDP last year, going without it isn't an option for us.
:thumbsup2

I'm also waiting for 2007 packages to be released. :hourglass

When I booked my "room only" in June for March 2007 the CM tried to book a basic package and the computers wouldn't let her do it, so I did the room only and paid the 1 night deposit. This won't cause any problems when we add the dining and tickets will it?!?! :confused3

I just spoke to reservations and the cm said 2007 package rates come out on August 6th..... :cheer2:

I have never booked a package before, what do I do? Just call reservations and give them my dates and tell them how many days I want on my tickets and I want the dining plan?

Yes, but the Dining Plan will be for the number of nights you stay at your resort. On your last day your credits end at midnight.
