I get it now....why after two years after the movie came out, Frozen is still such a huge driving force at DL. We (me, DH, ODD, YDD) went with some friends this evening to a showing of Frozen Sing A Long at a local movie theater.
It was at a local independently run movie house. Big theater and the place was PACKED! Several sold out shows and this is in Tucson, Arizona, not Orange County, CA.
Almost every single little girl there (my kids included) were in costume as Anna or Elsa. The boys wore a lot of Olaf hats.
The movie theater had an Anna and Elsa meet and greet. They handed out goody bags that had props. So when it snowed in Arendelle, you blew bubbles. When Elsa used her magic, you waved a magic wand. When Elsa sang "Let It Go," you held up a paper snowflake every time she sang the phrase "let it go." When Anna and Kristoff kissed at the end, everybody popped a small party popper with confetti in it. They also had a costume parade before the movie started.
I'm telling you, there was something very touching and emotional about all of those little kids and parents singing these songs together at the top of their lungs. I almost cried a few times. It was really wonderful. There was so much joy and love and laughter in that theater this evening.
That's what Walt Disney's dreams were all about...bringing families closer together, creating some of your own magic, pretending to be a prince of princess or something magical. The movie is about love and it was out of the love of his children that Walt Disney dreamt up Disneyland and opened it 60 years ago.
One more week until our family goes back to the happiest place on earth and after this evening, I just can't wait.
