I think Disney has stumbled onto something and I hope they realize it. We went to the Winter Funland at Hollywood Studios. The area has four attractions: a chance to play in snow while you build a snow man, ice skating, snack bar, and a place to take pictures.

The opportunity to play in snow in July in Florida is something worth experiencing. One family I talked to said they were from South Carolina and never played in snow before. Another group said this experience made them want to travel north this winter. Adults and children were laughing and being goofy and having a great time.

The demand for this winter Funland is crazy. The line to get inside can take an thirty minutes or more. Then the line for the snow can be another thirty minutes. The place was absolutely packed.

The interest in a Winter Funland is certainly sparked by the Frozen movie. But I think there is more to it. Just like there is interest in water parks, I think there would be interest in a permanent winter attraction at Hollywood Studios. Expand the area where kids can play in the snow, keep the ice rink, add a sled hill, maybe a skiing simulator, or snow shoeing, and let it snow real snow (not soap bubbles). Many People never have opportunities to be in snow and I believe it would be a huge lasting attraction.
