It depends. You can pay a cheaper price by paying for it when you book or you can pay a higher price day of travel. I've had different costs at different times of year/different flights. It adds up.

I used to fly with them often. They have stopped nonstop flights from LAX to MCO so I don't fly with them now.

It varies a little by season, but typically checked bags are slightly cheaper and paying in advance is cheaper than paying at the airport. Just a tip though, you can fit a pretty decent sized bag under the seat in front of you for free. We've used backpacks, diaper bags, or my favorite-the Vera Bradley Weekender. If we need more than that we combine our stuff into 1 large checked bag to limit the fees. Their fees are all listed on their website.
