I have never been before and have heard that you can buy a pass for around $20 that will allow you to enter the special entrance with little wait? How does this work and how do you get it?

Express Plus.

It's around $20 per person (+ - depending on season) and is only valid in the park you buy it in for the date indicated on the pass. You can buy it at select locations in the parks (look for the sign outside, or the + symbol on the map). This pass allows you to have one express access per attraction in whatever park the pass is valid for.

You can also get free express passes from machines in front of the attractions. These give you a specific return time and are limited to one at a time.
