Front of the Line Passes

My two sons are autistic, one way more than the other. We always use the guest assistance pass (GAC) in either WDW or DLR, which does cut way down on the wait time of the rides. We would not be able to do the parks with my son Sam without the help of the GAC. It is in no way a front of the line pass or a golden fast pass as some have called it. It is worth it's wait in gold however for those who have special need kids and want to be able to tour the parks without meltdowns, tears, and terrible looks from the other guests waiting in line with you. There are limits to it such as, no more than 6 can be on the GAC, only should be used for one ride, one time, for that day. Meaning no multiple trips on the same ride, the same day, like the IJA, Matterhorn, etc. Even if I was allowed to ride IJA 6 times in a row, it wouldn't be fair to the other guests and would cause a riot. Sadly people are abusing it and I fear one day Disney may curtail it. If they do, I'll be up craps creek without a paddle. Disney has been great over the years to my sons by accommodating their needs and I have returned the favor, by being loyal to them with my vacation dollars.

Unfortunatly I think you are right. I think Disney may take it away on day bc there are alot of ppl who are abusing it and ruiningfor those who really could use it. My son is also Autistic and it really comes in handy. If we didnt have it we would not be able to enjoy it and I wouldnt be able to see my son smile!

That is one reason I am so careful to keep too many specifics of the card from being posted and to make sure it is clear that this is NOT a front of the line pass. I really really need it to be able to enjoy the parks (in addition to my wheelchair) and I hope by making people realize that it is not a automatic fastpass, there will be fewer people who do not need it getting it.

The other possibility is a sponsor day. When I worked for AT&T they were sponsoring Star Tours. We had AT&T day at DL and we all got passes to th e front of the line at star tours but with 100's of employees in the park it wasn't th at much sh orter. This was pre fast pass. I imagine they still do something like this but in the nature of special fast passes. If you noticed it a lot on 1 specific day it could have been someth ing like this.

Very sound point... We felt a little guilty towards the end of the holiday as my daughter had recovered enough for us to really not need it anymore but then we thought of the lost 8 hours at the ER room and the fact that we weren't holding up anyone else with a GAC and the fact coming from half way across the world meant it would be a long time before we would be back and decided it was ok... We didn't abuse it's use though, often if the line was only 10 minutes (which was a lot of rides) we didn't use it...

Just yesterday we were given a yellow pass that had numerous check boxes for items like free beverages, food, other, ect.
Ours was marked other and gave the attractions name and allowed our party of 6 to enter the exit of a ride in which they held up the regular queue line from boarding until we boarded. The pass was a one time use only that was taken by the ride's CM when we boarded.

Let me just say... I have seen a sharp rise in the use of re-entrance passes. i had never seen them until December '09 (when we got into a minor accident in Mickey & Friends) And we got them twice last month, once when it took over an hour to redeem our GAD passes (i don't think anyone was trained on how to print them!) and once from a CM on the storybookland canal boats, because I have 3 kids, and so the CM let the oldest two swap out the "whale watching" seat halfway through. He said since they shared very nicely, he was giving them a reward, and gave them each one pass. Each pass lets in up to 6.
But every one we have ever gotten clearly says not valid on WOC or TSMM.

What I think you are talking about are the ride swap passes. It's about the size you described. Each ride has a different colored one. We were there last week and used them often, as my 3 year old wasn't very fond of the fast or "scary" rides. They allowed the person who stayed with the little one, and one other person, to go to the "front" of the line after the others got off.

We got a pass when after we just got on Snow White and it broke. It allowed us to go to the front of any one ride, except there was a couple it wouldn't work on?? We never used it, it was our last night and the last ride we could ride before the fireworks, but we did hightail it over to Haunted after the fireworks for one last ride (it was one of DD3's fav's this time, she loved Jack and Sally) thought we we could use it there if crowded but didn't need it, so we kept it for a souvenior. It could also only be used on the day it was issued. very nice touch I thought Disney did when the ride broke, the CM said it broke as the people getting off were taking too long so it automatically shuts off??

HI-for my son's Make a Wish Trip he was given a true "front of the line" pass..and since we have 6 kids, there were 8 of us who were able to accompany him. This is the ONLY FOTL pass Disney has. You may have been seeing many of them, since 75% of kids wish for a Disney trip. Some kids look as healthy as thier peers...our son was pretty weak by the time he had his trip and was in a wheelchair, but not all wish kids look sick. The pass is bigger than a 3x5 card. We did have lots of people ask why we were so lucky to get FOLT passes...and at first I wanted to explain there is nothing "lucky" about having a seriously ill child..but then I realized they just didn't know. Some wish kids wear their MAW shirts, but lots of wish kids just want to blend in.

We've been given two different kinds of passes---once when we were in Alice and it broke down, so they gave us some passes to go not wait for 2 rides in the park, up to 6 people (I ended up giving them away). And then once my dad got really upset over something and complained like a maniac and we had a special one on one visit with Peter Pan and something like you've described---it was either good to go to the FOTL on any ride, or you could redeem it for a free snack or for a toy at a number of places. We got a free toy at Pooh's Corner, as I recall.

I am not the type to complain...sometimes when I travel with my dad I could just die from embarrassment and then sometimes I really see the benefits of his way of living! :rotfl2:

We had a re-entry front of the line pass once, only once in all our trips and we honestly had a hard time using it! lol It was an early Nov. trip, just us girls (DBF had to fly back to work early Monday but the girls and I were there until Tuesday), we were on RR and it broke down, we were stuck in the room where the mouth opens and it's making a god awful screech sound....lol We sat there for quite a while until the CM came to get us out. As we exited they gave us the FotL pass. Since the parks weren't busy there were almost no lines and everywhere we tried to use it wouldn't take it, we ended up using it on Peter Pan, that was really nice. And it was the ONLY ride we wanted to do that had lines! LOL Even Space was a walk on...lol

Kerri--isn't that the way. It couldn't have happened during Spring Break or Christmas Week!

Did they look like this:

My daughter was given one of these on Christmas Day. The CM could tell how miserable she was (we all were really) and struck up a conversation with her. She said her favorite ride was HM but Mom wouldn't let her because of the line. He gave her one of these. I did go up and thank him for being kind to my lost puppy. :)
