From your experience was your 8am ADR was too early?

We are for sure doing CP at 8:05am during our trip, and the next day we are having breakfast at Donald's Safari in AK. I am able to get either a 8:20am or 9:10am reservation, and can't decide between the two.

We have two kids- both are used to getting up early, though DH wouldn't mind the extra 30 minutes of sleep if we went with the later ADR

The night before, we will be back at the resort from MK around 7pm

AK opens at 9am, we are staying at POR so we would have to be at the bus stop 1 hour before our reservation

We would like to ride the safari right after breakfast- how feasible is this with the 8:20am reservation- I am assuming their will be a line by the time we get there (how long of a wait for the safari in May?)?

With the 9:10am reservation we would just grab a fastpass before check in.

thoughts?

If you have an early evening the night before, I don't think it's too bad. But you need to allow at least an hour of travel time if you are using Disney Transportation, so keep that in mind.

We LOVE having a very early ADR tiem for breakfast. The are no crowds to deal with and it seems the characters are more active and stay with you longer.

Not for us it isn't. Just as long as the night before isn't a late night.

Thank you! I love the early adr too- just need to convince hubby :)

do you think we will have a relatively short wait to ride the safari after breakfast? We should be at the safari around 9:30ish I am guessing.....

If doing AK, we always get 8 to 8:15 Adr's to Tusker House. I do few buffets but this breakfast one with the characters I really enjoy, even being an adult (DS13) loves it too. We check in, sit, I take the tickets and walk over to the Safari and get fast passes (it's just a hop, skip and jump away). Go into breakfast and then afterwards head to the safari. It's a great start to the day and in summer the animals are wide awake as opposed to hot and tired. Love it!

PS: I would go for the 8:20am Res.

Definitly do the earlier ADR if you want to do the Safari first thing. Unless you really linger over your meal, you should be out in time for the 9:00am rope drop and you can be one of the first on the safari. After you are seated and served drinks, go ahead and ask for your check. It's a buffet so you can go ahead and pay.

If your kids can get up for the early ADR, then the earlier the better IMO. Getting to the parks early will allow you to accomplish a whole lot more than staying late at night. Since you have very young children I would guess that late nights (at least excessively late ones) are out of the question anyway so why not cash in on the better times of the day?!

I have done Chef Mickeys just after 7 am, having arrived there around 6.45 am and it really left the whole day open to enjoy. I would go early.

I agree that they aren't too early as long as you don't have too late of a night the night before and you can handle being up early. I'm a morning person so being awake at 5am is nothing for me. We just did 2 8am reservations and stayed at Coronado. One was at Crystal Palace and one was Chef Mickeys so we had to travel for both. We loved having them early so we could get good character interaction and also get going for the day. Now my husband is like yours and would love the extra 30 min of sleep but oh well, he can get that some other time, not while we're at the best place on earth :)

I really love getting into the parks early - it's so peaceful before they open.:goodvibes
