From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

To be honest I can't think what the Magic would do all winter over here. I think coming for the summer season is a good idea to continue and then find some other ports close to the US for the rest of the year.

I never expected the Magic to be in Europe year round either. However, I was expecting a set up were the Magic would spend the summer months in Europe hopefully doing alternate Eastern and Western Med cruises and then the winter in the Far East with a repositioning cruise taking in the Middle East and the Suez Canal at either end.

With the pirate danger at the other end, if it was me, I sure wouldn't be taking one of my ships through the Suez Canal.

Ditto on the Suez Canal. I am hoping for the Greek Isles!!

I am guessing the craziness going on in the world right now is hampering planning.

Very interesting about the carpet....

Hi! I have been really busy---I need to catch my breath---we had to let our dog Bandit go to the Rainbow Bridge on Monday--he was almost 14---survived the removal of his spleen on New Year's Eve and I thought we would have a couple of more years with him. This is such a very sad week and letting him go was THE hardest thing Tom and I have ever done. Sigh.

Tom got the promotion he applied for---get this---he has more $ but fewer responsibilities!

I have 4 more cruises booked---3 on the Dream and 1 on the Fantasy---that 1 is with Tom for our anniv in October 2012. I'm doing a 4 night with friends---I guess I'll find out how the couch is and a 3 night (B2B) with another friend in an inside room just to see the virtual port-hole this December. Then next March a 5-night double-dip with a friend.

What I would really like to do is go on another cruise---a reunion-type cruise with all of you wonderful people:-) This Panama Canal cruise went by way too fast!

Is anyone going to the D23 weekend in FL in May? I can't find anyone to go with me and I don't want to go alone. Sigh.

Hope everyone is well:-) I will place my pictures on smug-mug soon:-)

My photos aren't there yet either!

Cardidog - so sorry to hear of Bandits passing. I know losing pets is sooo hard. HUGS to you.

A reunion cruise sounds great. It would have to be at least two weeks since the time goes by so fast. Hawaii would do it.

Your prayers are requested for a postive ending to the search for a Wonder CM missing since Tuesday.

This is so sad. The young lady that is missing is from a place that is quite close to where we live.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Congratulations to your husband for the promotion.

I am all over this idea.

In regard to Val's post about the carpet or rug on the Dream...

Since the West Coast star for the Wonder is in Long Beach--but we know that the Wonder will spend part of the year in Long Beach and part of it Alaska--then maybe the same thing holds true for the European star for the Magic-Maybe it will spend part of the year there and part of it...?? hmmmm....

That's a good thought but if that was the case then they would need to put a star on Vancouver :confused3

It is because we know that the Wonder really has two ports for the year on the west coast, though only one is marked on the rug, that the possibility exists for the same situation for the Magic in Europe. It is confusing--but fun to consider the possibilities!

The home port for the Wonder is Los Angeles. There is still no confirmation that there will be Alaskan cruises next year, but the Wonder is contracted to Los Angeles for he next few years for a certain number of sailings.

It was very sad last week as they searched for her. I hope they find out something soon for her family. My DD and I immediately went to our cabin and said a prayer for her. We knew something was terribly wrong when the announcement came over the speakers. Disney did a wonderful job with the guests but we all felt so terrible.

I am so sorry to hear of Bandit's passing. I know how much our animals become part of our family.

Hi everyone,
The last cruise that this entertainment crew is on is going to Manzanillo as part of the 10 day. DD would like some advice on where to go and what to see or that kind of thing. Can anyone advice? I did the $20 tour when you got off the boat, so i'm lookig for something else she might want to do so as not to miss anything. Any ideas? Thanks
Sherri

We did the city tour and there really wasn't much to see. The place they took us for a snack had a beautiful view of the ocean and the Wonder.

Manzanillo is pretty much a big nothing. The sights were pretty much limited to fancy hotels, fancy houses, and the kinds of chain stores we see in the US. The 'flea market' was about 12 vendors of the same things.

If I were to do it again, I would go directly to the restaurant where we had our snack and sit there enjoying the sound of the sea and the margaritas until it was time to go back to the ship.

Sorry to hear about your dog passing - I know how much we miss our furry family members. ON the other hand, GREAT news on Tom's promotion!

My photos are UP on Smug mug AND I have my scrapbook done :cool2:

so did you two take the disney excursion or one that you do when you get off the ship (find a driver for $20 a person) so she knows which to try and do - and find that restaurant. or do you know where that restaurant was???

Is anybody else on here planning to book the cruise to Hawaii. I am actually quite relieved that it will be round trip from Los Angeles. This will make sorting out flights much easier. The timing works well for us, too.
