From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

Well as all you standby peps know, it can be challenging. We were suppose to go to Cayman today through Miami. Flights looked good yesterday morning. I got most of the packing done and decided to check the flights. Where the heck did those 51 standbys come from and who over booked the flight! So I checked for the last flight out last night. Slim chance of getting on but much better than todays flight. So we had 15 min. to throw anything else in the bags and race to the airport. Got there 2 min before cut off for check-in Sat patiently at the gate knowing all seats had been assigned. Hoping for last minute mis-connects We got the last seats on the plane Not bad cause I got first class . Miami to Cayman is wide open so hope no changes happen there today.

I get home Christmas eve and start packing for the cruise.

Lynne, we do panic on and off, but just keep hoping for the best. Problem is there aren't many days between our flights and the cruise in case we are delayed so that makes me stressed.

There is Corinna from Manchester too, can't remember anyone else though.

Are you flying out from London or closer to home? If via London, then the I would suspect that they would move heaven and earth to get Heathrow and Gatwick operational asap. With them being further south, they should be cleared earlier (but I do know that the weather is very unusual for the UK!) It would just be getting to London and perhaps you could get there earlier if local weather looked iffy? that everything works out.

Okay, I'm starting to panic a little. We leave 2 weeks from today and we still have to get through Christmas AND a HUGE Annual New Year's Even Open House before we leave!!

We would have scrapped the NYE Party but we've hosted this party for 15 years and we don't actually send invitations anymore. Word spreads and people just know to show up, so we'd have 80-100 people here whether we planned to have it or not! So we get to clean up from the party, watch the Rose Parade, finish packing last minute stuff, then grab our bags and head for the airport! YIKES!

On a personal note..it's raining like crazy here but we have a pet adoption event today to take our foster pups to. Please send pixie dust. If they do not get adopted then they have to move to a new foster home next weekend. I feel just terrible for these little pups...they are such great dogs and I feel like I am failing them.

I am hoping the weather calms down for our trip to FL. I am not a good at flying and the stress is starting to stress me out!

Everything is in a box and I really have to start packing as I know I am missing some things still. I told DD that I was going to take over the floor in her room to lay the suitcases out. That went over well

Sherri - hugs and pixie dust. Take care of yourself so you can help her as needed.

Weather - is it not just wacky?? I hope that no one has any travel delays - for whatever reason.

Packing stress - plan the packing and pack to the plan. I have one suitcase done and another almost done and will start the final one shortly. My goal is to have it all done but that last minute stuff by the end of today.

I had an emergency call and had to go into the office late yesterday afternoon and didn't get home until 9:30 or so. I was too wound up to sleep so I watched The Polar Express again with Drew. Confused the dogs to no end, they kept looking at me like come on - let's go to bed already! I think they even know I have watched it 4 times this year. I just hope the I can hear the bell ring forever!

And, in the midst of all that we are trying to get done, take some time for yourself - take a nap, have a cup of tea, whatever but let that stress go. Your holiday's will be fine: meals, parties, whatever you have in store. I have never seen a naked person on a cruise (well, there was that one time in St. Maartin but I won't go there, and neither should he have), nor noticed anyone in the same clothing every day so your packing will be good too. Deep breaths everyone.

Good morning all from a cloudy and rainy Los Angeles for the third day in a row and we have three mire days of rain ahead of us. It us supposed to stop Wed. My parents have their anniversary on Tuesday. Speeking of parents, yesterday mom canceled her part of the trip. Everything is fine in the long run just she will need to be home. Last night after work I went to see Tron again, but this time in the IMAX format. It was just as good the second time around.

Edinburgh to london, I dont even know how we stand if theres a problem to be honest,were booked with opodo, ba to london then virgin, I am sure it will be fine,with a little of this just incase!

I wore a pair of slacks to church that I had packed for the trip. Glad I wore them to church, now they can go in the trash! What a mess--you can't iron them, they won't hold a crease and they look like a ragShopping tomorrow for the bargains! Everyone needs more than one pair of black slacks, right!

Sherri, I wish there was something I could say to make you feel better. I am sure your daughter understands how much you love her and remember if you did cancel she would feel terrible.
Is there anything we can do to help you setup your communication plan? DCL emergency contact number, cell phone, computer access? If there is anything at all we can do to help you let us know.

Poor you. Sorry your daughter is in hospital. I hope she is soon home well. Don't feel bad about giving a little thought to your maybe missing the cruise. All your emotions and thoughts will be all over the place, but you know that your daughter is first in your thoughts. You just have so much else to think about too right now. Husbands also understand our snapping at them, they have got used to it over the years, and he will be worried too no doubt. A good cry is ok!!!

Hang tough, Babe! The situations will all resolve themelves given time. Remember to eat right and drink lots of water. Obviously you're not sleeping well, but try to rest. These things won't help your daughter directly, but it will help you be stronger to support her and get done what you need to get done.


Baked cookies yesterday. House guest isn't coming, so now I need to pack and mail cookies to her. (Long sad story) Must decide today whether I'm shipping a box to the ship or schlepping it with me. Shoulder is still painful so concerned about managing the luggage. DH & I 41st anniversary today. Other than that, it's quiet around here.

DH and I went to see Black Swan on Friday which I really liked, but DH just thought was okay. We saw Forbidden Broadway last night and we both really enjoyed it. One of the actors used to be Aladin on the Wonder!

got so thrown off today with daughter in hospital. not only l did i miss so much time to start this (xmas and cruise) organizing, but i just got thrown into an emotional tizzy, wanting to talk to my dad and wanting ot just make her well, and then truly selfishly thinking i hope she is ok so i dont miss the cruise! (though she and i talked about it - she remiinded me nothing happens fast so i could plan on going and taking care of her if need be when we get back - what a great kid i have! all of them!!) but my emotions just got the best of me, alternating between snapping in anger at DH and tearing up.
