From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 5

Our postcards sent from the Panama Canal in 2008 didn't have postmarks on them either. I was hoping it would be different this time. I wonder why they do that? They must know people want the postmark. Very odd.

Getting a postmark was the entire reason I sent one to myself! But, nothing made it here yet! I am kind of kicking myself at this point for not booking another dummy cruise while we were on board - oh well, I will get it done in October - for the following year.

Oh yeah, in regards to cruise reunion, I just found out about a reunion cruise for the August 2008 PC crossing, on the Fantasy. From what I've been told about 95% of the DIS group is going on it. I don't remember how many that is, but when we did FE gifts there were over 125 cabins involved.

Wouldn't it be nice to get this group together again, preferably when school is out rather than right after the first of the year when everyone (in the northern hemisphere at least) is just going back to school after the holidays.

They are going on the June 23rd cruise...I know we can not make it...not sure how many will really stick but there is a large group going.

To answer the question about the cruises coming up. Disney does send an email to the TAs who are certified with Disney but it isn't a lot of notice. Rumors usually start circulating and that's the best way to find out.

Watch the Dis... alot of times - people find out that way as well.

BRRRR, Hello from Iowa, very cold but we're not getting dumped on with snow at least this year. So far it's been manageable snow!

We haven't gotten our Panama Canal postcards yet. Have others? :confused3

Dick and I are still fighting the crud. Hopefully, we'll feel back to normal this weekend so we can finally get all unpacked!!!

I highly recommend for your desk, a digital photo frame with warm, fun, beautiful cruise pictures scrolling on it! Especially nice if your window faces white stuff that is not a white sandy beach! :rotfl2:

So when do we have a reunion cruise with all of us???? :grouphug:

Barb

Just got aruba card tuesday so not expecting this for a few days

We also didn't know about the desert night. I love going and looking at the beautiful presentation.

I will look for a duplicate 18th navigator, I am pretty sure I have a duplicate.

wow shame so many didnt know. we just asked our server, never even thought to look in navigator

As far as I know the dessert buffet wasn't on the navigator, I don't think it ever has been. Your server or at least head server should have told you about it.

Ahhh, well ours didn't tell us that I recall.

It was on the navigator, in the small section with restaurant hours. But, I would not have even looked there if our server didn't tell us about the buffet. After he told us, then I look at the navigator and saw it.
IMO, it should have been listed in the main section of times, there was plenty of room.

Definately should've been listed in the main sections.

A Big Thank You to the person who posted the door pictures on Smugmug. That was a lot of time and work taking all those pictures, but it made me so happy to see them tonight when I checked the smugmug account. So a great big thank you!!!!!

Valerie posted most (if not all) of the photos I took at the dessert buffet. To see them and make copies, go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/rmvandy/

You can click on "sets" on the right. Those contain all the photos of the topic named. Once you have gotten a photo to display on the left with a "previous/next" button above it on the right, you can click there or scroll through the thumbnails under the set name on the right.

To download a photo, click photos or their size options above them until you see Download [large or whatever] size. For the most detail to edit and print, look to the right and click the Original option. For the size shown here, click Medium. Anything but "original" size will be too small to make a decent print, but will be good on screen.

If you think the instructions are a bit obscure, you should try exploring all this to describe them! But eventually, you can get your own prints or or a file for your digital frame or blackmail. All my Wonder photos are licensed for non-resale use, so edit them any way you want.

Based on how long it took to upload 300 photos, I don't think I'll be uploading all of them to smugmug, but I'll do some.

We sent Panama Canal postcards to our DS & DD they arrived this week without a postmark.

Our cousin just finished with the Army the end of January so our DS flew back to NC to ride back to CA with him. They left NC Monday so they've been trying to skirt the massive storm this week so far they've made it to New Mexico tonight. What a road trip!

I'm another one trying to get through all the pictures I took (4GB card full), I'm about halfway through.

Our server didn't tell us either. I was really disappointed not to see it.

Thanks for the pictures... now I know what I missed :-( It looks beautiful!

No one told us either!

We booked 2 cruises on board. One for April 15, 2012 & a dummy hoping for a Hawaii to come up!! Of course hoping for a Money tree to go with it!!

Same here! Actually, 3 cruises and I frankly didn't even know there WAS a dessert buffet!!! Next time I'll know to look for it in the Navigator, at least!

We knew.... but I was so zonked that night, we didn't even head down.

But one of the things I did enjoy was watching Mary Poppins on the Ariel View one evening. My only issue was that it was SO LOUD during the day, and too quiet at night (they were setting up for the next day's PC BBQ and were clanging through a good chunk of the movie).

We saw everyone walking on deck 10 and stopping to watch the movie for a bit, but I think DH and I were the only ones who watched the enteri time... very romantic with a movie under the stars. :wizard:

Postcards - received Aruba but not Panama yet. Disappointed to hear that they weren't postmarked

Dessert Buffet - Our server told us and we had planned to go but DS feel asleep. I considered heading down to get some goodies for us but was already in my PJs

We knew to look for it because on all of our 7+ night cruises the desert buffet was always on Captians Gala night. We too booked the last cruise being offered in 2012 as of right now in the hopes of a Hawai'i cruise. If not then Oct 2012.

We only have one extra pluto. What if I send the pluto to TxMermaid1 so she can finish her set and $2. Then she can send me her extra stitch and goofy which I'll send with my mickey, to Corinna? Does that work for everyone?

Val

You guys are all fantastic. Stitch is my absolute favourite so getting him will be a definite bonus.

Excellent!! so glad you got them back!!

Has anyone seen any pics posted anywhere of the Wonder passing the Dream but from the Dreams perspective?? I really want to see a pic of all of us waving our big white plastic hands!

I had a look around, but could not find anything. I have one of the photographers on the Dream as a friend on Facebook, but she has not posted any photos either.

Still having cruise thoughts......Sigh

Before we left, some felt there would be a photo op of all three ships on the day we were to be at Castaway Cay. We didn't stop at the island and also didn't have any more thoughts about the picture happening.

Did they take a picture like that at any other time that someone's seen?

It did seem like a good idea.

Dick and I still have a yucky cough and are too tired. Haven't even unpacked everything yet or downloaded my pictures!

We are going on the May TA and taking the "kids" along. The TA DIS group asked what kind of DIS things we did on the PC. I raved about all of you so much!!! I got a reply that we sounded like a great group and they got tired just reading about everything we did.

It was a once in a lifetime trip with all of you! THANKS AGAIN!!!!

Barb

I know that the Magic and the Dream met before the Dream arrived in Port Canaveral. The Wonder was not too far away either and it could have easily been arranged that all three ships would have been there together, but it was obviously decided against. People that were on that cruise on the Magic commented that DCL had wanted to showcase their old flagship and their new flagship together. That just shows once more that the Wonder really is the runt of the litter. I wonder what will happen when the Fantasy comes out next year.

Our server never mentioned anything. I had spotted it on the back page of the Navigator, but we were too tired to stay up for it.

I am in the same position. I really wish I had booked a dummy date. Still, we will be back on the Wonder in October and I am planning on booking two cruises then.

We are back on the Wonder for the Alaska inaugural cruise in May, can someone tell me how booking a future cruise then changing it works? Do you get to keep the OBC offered? Do you get the 10% discount off the cruise you change to? Does your 50% deposit transfer over and stay at 50%?

thanks

When you transfer a date over like that, everything should carry over. The only exception is the Fantasy's maiden b/c there's no discount offered on it, you would only carry over the OBC and same applies if you transferred your ressie to a suite, no discount just OBC.

Our Panama post cards arrived today. There was no post mark on them at all! If I ever sail through the Panama again I can remail them :rotfl:
I have the postcards and stamps - just decided not to mail them. Just as well it seems :confused3

I asked our servers one night, but they didn't know. Our first cruise we totally missed it, second cruise caught the last 15 minutes of it. This time I asked, still missed it! :rotfl: Never mind, we were probably still stuffed from dinner!

Our server called us at 11.30 one night to remind us it was our character breakfast the next morning. Luckily we were not asleep, yet...

DD was watching that one evening. Had to pull her away from it for some reason. Told her we could watch it at home one night. I love that movie.

Just decided to have a nosey at the kid with the youtube video's page and he wrote the following on it

extraboilingice (18 hours ago)

To all those concerned,
Disney has contacted me and actions are currently being decided. I will not be cruising with disney again anytime soon. I do hope that my videos have given awareness to people about there being no security cameras in the hallways of the ship and Disney will take action to this.
For all those who were outraged about this on the disney blogs, i am sorry for this. The actions in this video were not ment to represent any of the actions of teenagers who were on the ship other than the one accused.
There is much to be learned from this for the people accused and the people offended. I know that nothing i do will redeem my or anyonesles actions. I have taken full responsibility for the videos.

Thankyou
-Extraboilingice
