Reminder, call your credit card company and let them know if you plan to use your cards on the trip. My friends forgot to do that and their cards where declined when in Mexico. Their company was trying to protect them so they refused the out of country charges. You'll let them know when your in the country and they will only allow the charges for that time.

Awesome advice...added it to the "to do" list. Thank you!

Forgot to add that if you go through DTD, you would end up having to go through security (bag check) lines. Not something that I would want to do with luggage after a cruise.

THANK YOU for that titbit! Going through security would not be good. (The hassle, not that I'd be bringing contraband. :rotfl: )

Maybe a taxi would be best?

But that hotel as a drop off would be as good as any of them?

Guessing that you would walk around the southern part of DL property, that would be the best hotel to drop off at.

Have you checked out the cost of a taxi from the port directly to your hotel? Might be cheaper?

That's an idea. I guess my mind automatically thought the LA port would be a long ways from DL.

What would be the name of the port and address, if you have it already?

DCL is charging $32 each from LA port to DL. So $64 or less for taxi.

Good evening all! Its nearly 10pm here and I only just came home, in the process of scoffing down my dinner. Been a stressful and busy few days.

Its hard to believe that we're leaving for America in less than 48 hours!

Jen, how does one book the Cabana? It wasn't listed on the DCL website. Please excuse me if this has been answered before.

As for formal gear, I've got 1 dress that I'll be wearing for both formals and the semi-formal. Space is a premium! Anywhoo, hope you all have a great day.

Safe travels!

Only the cat 1-3 guests can book them. If any are available while on on board you can book them once we are on. Well got some good news today and a little bad news. The good news is it looks like I would say about 90% sure I will not be canceling. My mom on the other hand is about 99% sure she is going to cancel. Again I really do not want to get into here, and I thank you all for respecting that so far, and i thank you for your welI wishes, they have come in handy I look forward to maybe meeting some of you in just a few short weeks.

Sending good karma!

Looking at the distance, it (a taxi) may be a tad more expensive than the DCL transfers, but maybe you can find a 'taxi share' with another couple from the DIS?

Often I have found a pre-booked towncar to be better value than a taxi - you might get a flat rate.

Personally, I feel sometimes it is just worth the extra $ for the time, convenience and not having to worry about something else.

Thanks for the info Kay. I'll do some more checking.

KAY: I was going through my past DCL info. I think we've cruised together before! Were you on the January Thaw Cruise 1-19-2008? It was the MAGIC, 7 nite, Eastern. You were on the DIS Tag list...the large traveling Mickey head that went from door to door. I was the organizer for it.

I don't remember you, sorry, but now we know that we're already friends!!!

Personaly I always use a Taxi as a last resort. They are always much more expensive than a towncar, supershuttle, or even DCL. There is no way I would use a Taxi from the port to Disneyland.

Another cold weather wimp here! I've lived in Texas most of my life (with New Orleans the only other place I've lived) so I'm jsut not used to COLD weather. I'd much prefer the sweltering summers!

Alan, hope you get to make it on the cruise. We have a Mavs/Lakers game to watch :thumbsup2 Really, regardless of the game, I hope you get to join us as I know you are looking forward to this cruise.

Lynn, hoping the weather clears up for you soon!

Need to check out where the clearance Dillards Store is here in Houston. I'm always looking for a good deal!!

Jill, here is some pixiedust: And have a great trip. DH and I would love get certified for Scuba someday. We went diving at a Sandals Resort 12 years ago and have been wanting to go back since. I have read that you can do all the out of water stuff here and then take the diving test at Sandals. We are considering doing that within the next year. As far before the cruise travel, we've got to go back to Dallas next week and then DD is going to Atlanta the end of the month! I might as well just get the suit cases out now. But it would help if I would wrap all those presents sitting around in my room. But what woudl really help is if I would get off of here and get some of this stuff done!

Carmen, I have not checked out the Dillards in Houston yet. I am originally from Houston area. I lived there for 50 yrs..... uhhhh I mean 26+... I am in Fort Worth now but still come to Houston often.

I teach diving and used to have a dive shop in the Houston area. You would love it I am sure. You can actually do all your classwork online. Then go to the local dive shop for pool work. It doesn't take long. Then do the certifying dives at Sandals if you want. I love Sandals!

Thanks for the pixie dust... looks like you need some too :wizard:

I just went to the Dillard's clearance here and got my formal night dress. It was 70% off then another 30% off that. Not bad. Of course since I am a teensy weensy bit short, I have to hem it about a foot!

See ya on the cruise.:banana::banana:

Hello! :wave2:

We are staying at The Best Western Anaheim Inn on Harbor Blvd after the cruise. I have the DCL transportation from the LA port to Paradise Pier. I can be dropped off at any of the DL hotels but the CM suggested this location would be the best for us. We HOPE to be traveling light with one bag and carry on each. Can we walk from Paradise Pier to our hotel on the other side? The Best Western, on Harbor Blvd, is right across the street from what I would call one of the main entrances to the walkway that is between the two parks.

To those who have been to DL more then me...can we get here from there???

THANKS for the help.
Barb

You might check on a quote from this company from the port to your hotel. It might be a little more, but easier.

Well for the game I am hoping it will be on the big screen. Should be a boring game in the end. The Lakers should be fully healthy by then. I say final score Lakers 110 Mavericks 90.

I haven't caught up on the last few pages but had to vent. Doesn't anyone make nice formal dresses with sleeves anymore! :headache: Is it just because I live in Florida that all I can find are sleeveless formal dresses? I know I could buy one and buy a nice jacket to go over it but geeze, really?

Ok, done now, thanks!

Guess I'll spend tomorrow's lunch looking for a jacket/bolero to wear with one of the sleeveless dresses I already have.

Concierge can book it in advance. All others need to wait till its onboard. I think they pull a little magic since it still technically isn't in the system.

Try Goodwill, I just bought two formal dresses there (in excellent condition for $25 total). They had a bunch with sleeves on the racks.

I've gone to 3 different Goodwill's in the last 3 weeks. Nada. Well, found one but not my size. Maybe I should take a trip to Tampa. :)

I'll have to check out some consignment stores this weekend if I have time.

I didn't find anything with sleeves this year, but I DID find a nice jacket at a consignment store, another one in Marshalls, and a sequined bolero in Burlington Coat factory :)

I've had the same problem. Found 1 today at the Dillard's clearance center that has enough sleeve to make me happy. Dang they thing everyone wants to show their fabby arms! :confused3:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Where is the Houston Dillards Clearance?? I know there used to be one at Gunspoint, I mean Greenspoint:rotfl:, but thought that one had closed / relocated?!?

I am also vertically-challenged...for my cousin's big formal wedding I bought a beautiful beaded & sequined gown (for a bargain Stein-Mart price of $20) and then spent $75 having it altered & rebeaded:scared1:

We booked a towncar last time. I seem to think it was about $90.

Which car service? I'm looking for options in California -- port to DVC Villas at Grand Californian, for 3 people and a jillion bags:rolleyes1 -- willing to car-share with other DIS folks!!

I ordered a towncar for the three of us at Candy Cane Inn. Not messing with bus and walking with luggage. Pamper me, baby!

Again, which car service did you use?

For the DL park regular group...which order of the parks do you recommend for our post-cruise stay? I'm thinking will have a noonish to close on Friday & full day on Saturday...then we fly home on Sunday mid-day from LAX:mad: (back to reality)... We will have the 2-day park hopper pass and have previously (2005) visited both DL & DCA. DH & DD are the adreline junkies, I just carry the bags & make the purchases :wizard: (A bit saddened that my personal favorite ride -- it's a Small World -- will be closed for the removal of holiday overlay while we are there)...any advice is welcomed!
