Made it to Phoenix! Wahoo!!! I'll be in Orlando by 7 am in the morning. I can hardly wait. Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party here I come!

Hi Judy,

Glad to hear that your travel plans are working out. Hope you have a great time at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party! :yay::yay:

I have been to both Woolworths and Coles (the two major supermarkets in Sydney) and was not able to locate any Wattie's ketchup. I couldn't see any Wattie's products at all. I think that they may have been taken over my Heinz, but I'm not sure:confused:

I'm really sorry that I couldn't help you out with the ketchup. :sad1:

Have a wonderful time in Orlando, and I look forward to meeting you on the cruise.

Catherine

Hey everyone :)

Just popping in to ask a quick question. Can anyone tell me what the cost for 2 people is tip wise if you pay the average tip? I found a tip calculator and it works out to $360. Is this correct? I just want to make sure :)

Thanks,

Holly

Hi Holly,

That amount's correct.

As per Cruise doc's I just received, suggested amount per person is $180, made up as follows:

Restaurant Server $60.00
Restaurant Assistant Server $45.00
Head Server $15.00
Stateroom Host(ess) $60.00

Hope that helps!

That sounds right.

Did you get a CM rate? If you did, you might want to check and see if it already includes tips - I know some rates did.

I have a second question - are they taxed on these tips? I think i heard they make no money, just tips. so if you prepay tips they know what the person got (or if you pay other than in cash). so what happens if you add cash? I've done that for some of the dining room people and wondered if they still get to keep it all

This was amazing! Does anyone know where it was done?

i said hte sme thing. there was a name on one of the posts of a mall and i looked up that mall and it's in ontario. i dont still have the name of it though, sorry,

Quick post - about to head out to Cubs....

The Fed-Ex man has just been ! YAYAY ! :cool1: Makes it all so real, doesn't it ?

I have a huge favour to ask... anyone who has a DD or DS who was posting in the teen / tween thread - would you mind responding to my DD1's post ? She'd love to get a reply or two to her post, as she's a little nervous about meeting new kids in the club (she reckons she's going to hang out by the pool and eat pizza all day with intermittent trips to watch a movie or two  ) I'd love for her to meet some other kids her own age :)

Anyway, must fly - we're making white Christmas and madeira cake truffles... it's the first time I'm running the whole meeting ! :scared1:

Cheers,
Sally :)

There are certain times when you just LOVE FedEx!!!

I got so far behind on reading our thread. I went to WDW right before Halloween and, when I got back, work was so busy. I've spent some time each of the last few nights catching up on the posts since Halloween, and I am happy to say, I am all caught up (for now, at least).

I feel like time has really gotten away from me. The cruise is coming fast and so are the holidays. I better start making lists. I am big on lists. Someone once said, I would make a list of what to put on a list! But the first order of business will be checking out my room assignment.

I'm a list maker, and a list of lists maker too!!!:lmao::lmao: If a list gets untidy from things being crossed off i have to make new tidy ones.:lmao: And, I will add things I have already done and cross them off to make a list look like I have done more!! Nobody sees it but me, so:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Boxing Day is the day after Christmas in the UK.

From Wikipedia

"The traditional recorded celebration of Boxing Day has long included giving money and other gifts to those who were needy and in service positions. The European tradition has been dated to the Middle Ages, but the exact origin is unknown and there are some claims that it goes back to the late Roman/early Christian era; metal boxes placed outside churches were used to collect special offerings tied to the Feast of Saint Stephen.[2] In the United Kingdom, it certainly became a custom of the nineteenth-century Victorians for tradesmen to collect their "Christmas boxes" or gifts on the day after Christmas in return for good and reliable service throughout the year. [3] Another possibility is that the name derives from an old English tradition: in exchange for ensuring that wealthy landowners' Christmases ran smoothly, their servants were allowed to take the 26th off to visit their families. The employers gave each servant a box containing gifts and bonuses (and sometimes leftover food). In addition, around the 1800s, churches opened their alms boxes (boxes where people place monetary donations) and distributed the contents to the poor. However, the exact etymology of the term "boxing" is unclear and for which there are several competing theories, none of which is definitive"

That is the traditional story I was brought up with, but since being on the Dis, and trying to explin it every year, I have found out there are other stories too, so I feel a bit sad I might have been deceived all these years!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

This was amazing! Does anyone know where it was done?

It thought it said Canada, but not sure where. I would have loved to have been sitting there, but I would have been thinking that the first lady was a bit of a nutter till the others joined in!!

I just have to ask ... what is boxing day? I have heard that term a few times.

The day after christmas.
sorry I thought it was called that everywhere.
