We had some exciting news (to us it is) last week. Our son Dean (23) is in the US Army and based in Texas right now. He informed us that he will get leave for the holidays and get to come home. I told him we are only doing a few decorations, since we would be leaving on January 1st for WDW and we have too much to do. After some careful and constant checking, a plan was put in motion. First time in 13 years we got to surprise him and catch him off guard. He is flying home on Dec. 20 and flying back to Tx on Jan. 4th. When I told him the flight info he was very excited to spend so much time with his family & friends. I had him on speaker phone and my DH & I both told him "You're going to Disney World"!! He thought we were kidding....Merry Christmas! So he'll get to play in the parks for a few days with us before heading back. WOOHOO!!

How exciting and special for you all!!!:cool1:

Yay :cheer2: Congrats to all!!!

That is such wonderful news!!! Have a FANTASTIC TIME!!!

I am so upset and disappointed with myself right now. Last year during open enrollment at DH's job, I someone deleted myself from our dental plan. Okay, no biggie I thought, I'll just make sure to put myself back on during the next open enrollment. I thought one year w/o dental will be okay as I have been going every 6 months, xrays been negative, ect. Well, a few weeks ago, I lost a filling. So I went back and had it refilled. He said he may have drilled too deep, may need a root canal but most likely not. Well, wouldn't you know, it's been just over 3 weeks and I'm having a lot pain. The entire left side of my face hurts constantly, pretty bad at times. I've talked to my mom (she's been an assistant for 30 years) and I've researched online and it sounds like I will need a root canal. And of course it would be a molar which are the most expensive. I just keep kicking myself for goofing up on enrollment. I mean, the pain is bad enough but to know that I'm about to have to shell out no telling how much money when I would have insuranced if I hadn't of messed up is making it that much worse. I just keep hoping that the pain will subside but it's going on 3 days now. Okay, sorry for venting but thanks for listening :sad1:

Oh dear, sorry you are in pain both of the dental and monetary kind.:sad2: Hope you get it sorted soon.

I see I will have a lot of reading to catch up on Monday. But just wanted to touch base, been very busy these past 2 weeks and only skimmed through posts.

Welcome to our new cruisers!

Congrats on those who are finally out of a lifeboat!

Just a quick stop in...

Our day was washed out here...my Girl Scout troop was supposed to go to Disneyland today but we had to much rain. It has been postponed to Wednesday.

Tomorrow I get to meet up with Brooklyn at Disneyland :cool1: Should be fun...I love Dismeets!

Today wasn't a total loss...I found a blouse for my DD for pirate night and a dress for Christmas...we went shopping at the local Goodwill store. Some nice stuff!

I also finished all of my Holiday cards for both friends/Family and my clients so those are ready for mailing on Wednesday.

I went grocery shopping and we are ready for our Thanksgiving feast!

And best of all - I have caught up on the lanyard mailing! :rotfl2: I ran a little behind. I am just waiting for a few more people who are sending payment and I will have everything mailed that want it and the rest will be packed and ready for the port. Now..off to enjoy some movies and a good night sleep! We have a family coming to look at one of our foster puppies tomorrow! Send us some pixie dust - he deserves a great home!

Sounds like a great weekend, have some fun for me!

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Off to a chilly start here in Upstate NY - 27 F, but the sun is out and the skys are clear. I think i'm off to the bike path for a walk when it warms up - there won't be many more days like this one!

Happy day, all!

Enjoy your walk. We are going to get much colder this week with a chance of snow. I hope we don't have the bad winter we had last time, particularly with regard to getting to the airport on the 2nd January, and the flight getting away on the 3rd.

How absolutely wonderful is that? And just like those Christmas coffee commercials - it choked me all up.

Having had several root canals - I feel your pain, both the physical and the monetary. But, I can say from experience, that is the worst pain I have ever had (had 3 kids and a herniated disc) and I would have paid anything to get rid of it.

I hope you have a good walk. Kind of dreary here and what was supposed to be a week in the 40's with a possibility of rain has turned to 20's and 30's with snow showers. If I didn't want to go to Ohio Wednesday, it would not be an issue.

Well, we had a great time yesterday in Frankenmuth meeting up with the new in-laws. And, I got a Christmas gift for my Dad - was not really even looking but there it was. Funny how when you see something it all just clicks.

So, today is :laundy:day - happy, happy, joy, joy! Everyone have a great day.

Had several root canals and even though it is not the most pleasant thing to do - it really is not that bad- the worse is the expense. I just had to have surgery on the gum above the tooth that had TWO root canals in. Infection was building up and they had to go in surgerily. It was ten times worse than a root canal. I had this done on Monday and I am still on pain pills and ice packs for the swelling. I could have waited to see if it would clear up by itself but it would be my luck to be out on the ship in the middle of the ocean and have tooth pain.

I think the pain in the mouth.

Thank goodness it hasn't gotten to the worst pain yet but I have had one that did quite a few years ago. So, I know the direction I'm heading if I don't get something done. It would be during a week where some offices are closed or most definitely having short weeks.

Glad your visit went well with the new in-laws and a little Christmas shopping to top it off. Sounds like a good day!

Yeah, since I have had a root canal several years ago, I told DH that the worst part of it is the pain leading up to and the expense. Getting those shots will help alleviate the pain. I also have major dentist anxiety so the procedures are never as bad as I think they will be.

So sorry to hear what you are experiencing. I hope you start getting some relief soon and the tooth causes you no more problems :goodvibes

It's a warm day here in the Houston area. It's already 77 and a bit muggy with high forecast for the mid 80s. But by the end of next week, we'll have lows in the 30s! Anyway, there's a Mexican flea market here in town and I'm thinking about going to look for some clothes for Mexican night. I'm going to dose up on Motrin and try not let this pain keep me from enjoying my husband's first day off in 2 weeks :thumbsup2

Hope everyone as a great Sunday and for those of you heading out on Thanksgiving travels be safe. The song line "Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house we go!" popped in my head We used to always sing it at school during Thanksgiving :goodvibes

.

I bet she wishes you could really share her pain!!!;)

Actually, I am so scared of the dentist I wouldn't go for years, and when i eventually had to go I had to have a root filling. I was petrified.:scared1: But, I have to say that that one, and the few since have been painless experiences, really. Paying for it was the worst thing.

I hope it goes so much better than you are expecting.

I get in a state even going for a check up at the dentist.:sad2:

Have a couple lf questions on behalf of a friend who's going on the thanksgivig Wonder cruise leaving wednesday, so i am hoping to the answers to day if possible so they can make arrangmenets if needed:

Is there really just a few hours that a one and a half year old can be in the babysitting area (whatever its called)?

Will they come get a child that age from late dinner to babysitting?

since he's still on a bottle, we know they'll deliver diapers and such to the room, but will they give you milk to keep in the fridge?

this kid goes to bed like 730. is there a way the parents can get out or is it just a question of the adults with him taking turns? or can he stay in babysitting till later and get picked up?

Can he swim in the one pool? do they need to bring the swimmers diapers or can they get those delivered too?

Thanks in advance!!
Sherri

Oh I hate the dentsit! I have to be IV sedated to have anything other than a cleaning. I am nott kidding I had almost 4 hours of dental work done in April and cost me close to $2000 out of pocket even with lousy dental insurance. Was able to get Friday night at Disneyland dinning reservations. Have to call back tomorow for Saturday's reservation. Off to work soon. Hope everyone has a great day.

Is there really just a few hours that a one and a half year old can be in the babysitting area (whatever its called)? It's called Flounder's Reef, and yes, you are limited to the amount of hours you can leave a child in there. I don't know what they are for a short cruise

Will they come get a child that age from late dinner to babysitting? No, that option is for kids in the lab/ club.

since he's still on a bottle, we know they'll deliver diapers and such to the room, but will they give you milk to keep in the fridge? You can get regular milk from room service

this kid goes to bed like 730. is there a way the parents can get out or is it just a question of the adults with him taking turns? or can he stay in babysitting till later and get picked up? The only option is the nursery. But they do have cribs in the nursery.

Can he swim in the one pool? do they need to bring the swimmers diapers or can they get those delivered too? No, no swimming. Just the water play area. Only potty trained kids can go in the pools. But the baby does need to wear swim diapers in the water play area. I've never used the baby product delivery service.

Thanks in advance!!
Sherri

Is there really just a few hours that a one and a half year old can be in the babysitting area (whatever its called)? It's flounders - if they can't book time on line, they can go to flounders to check for openings. They will need to pay for that time.
Will they come get a child that age from late dinner to babysitting? I don't think so - I think you need to deliver the child

since he's still on a bottle, we know they'll deliver diapers and such to the room, but will they give you milk to keep in the fridge? you can get milk in cartons from room service but the fridge isn't a fridge it's a cooler - not as cold.

this kid goes to bed like 730. is there a way the parents can get out or is it just a question of the adults with him taking turns? or can he stay in babysitting till later and get picked up? If they can get time in flounders, he can stay there until they collect him - but again remember this is a paid service.

Can he swim in the one pool? do they need to bring the swimmers diapers or can they get those delivered too? I believe Non-potty trained children are confined to one ear and the soak zone, even with swim diapers. I don't know if they deliver swim diapers or not. They could check the website for the company. They DO need to preorder!

Thanks in advance!!

Sherri,

This is my understanding (we didn't cruise until DD was 3)...

From DCLs website "Reservations for Flounder's Reef Nursery fill very quickly, so book as early as possible. You can pre-book up to 10 hours of care before you sail."

So it looks like you can prebook up to 10 hours, but they may be able to get more hours subject availability.

Will they come get a child that age from late dinner to babysitting?

I believe you are referring to the Dine & Play option - as far as I am aware, that is only for kids in the club and lab.

since he's still on a bottle, we know they'll deliver diapers and such to the room, but will they give you milk to keep in the fridge?
You can get cartons of milk at breakfast - we usually grab a couple to take upto the room. I would also guess you can get some milk from room service. Don't know if there is a charge for that.

Oh, what about at the drinks station? There should be milk there.

this kid goes to bed like 730. is there a way the parents can get out or is it just a question of the adults with him taking turns? or can he stay in babysitting till later and get picked up?
\

From DCLs website "Babysitting in staterooms is not available."

Can he swim in the one pool? do they need to bring the swimmers diapers or can they get those delivered too?
Children in diapers cannot go in the Mickey pool. There is a special splash area for non potty trained kids. They will need swim diapers.

BabiesTravelLite do offer swim diapers
