The cruise stateroom map is updated. Couple of new pictures today as well. I'm also sure as soon as someone figures out what's different on the map there will be a busy thread ;) But I'm not telling.

The site is once again current with everything that I have. 2 more lifeboats converted as well.

Thanks to everyone who came to the Northern California Pre-Cruise Meet yesterday. The weather was a wonderful 75 degrees, Cuesta park was beautiful and the company was the best. A special thanks to Shirley and Doug for all the organizing and setting up. The tasty treats were grand.

Here are some pictures that Judy, Michael & Bob took of the event:

Congrats on getting the Roy!!!! It's an awesome room. Sure wish the upgrade fairy would visit us, but I don't see that happening.

Hi all. I saw someone post about a 10:30 A.M. flight. If this is the day we get in, sorry to sound harsh but you will miss your flight. As mentioned in posts on this and other threads, customs here in L.A. is a whole different beast. Let try to shed a little light on customs here. You will get off on deck 4. You will then be directed to either the non citizen line or citizen line depending on if you live in the U.S. Then you wait to get your passport scanned by a customs agent and that takes about a min and a half or so. Then you go fund your luggage, if customs is ready to let you collect it. Then you hand I'm your form and hope they don't search you. Takes about a hour here once off the ship.

Does this mean we can get a stamp from the Los Angeles port authority in our passports? I would love an entry stamp from CA instead of my usual PHL airport ones!

Corinna, how much did they charge you for the hair-do at BBB on the magic?

I paid just short of $50 and that included a tiara, the make up pallet, a Mickey hair clip and a sash.

Hello Everyone!:cool2:

My mom (Cruisin' Dearie) and I will be joining you on this amazing cruise. I was very excited to find the DISboards and this thread, even though we are kind of late in joining. There seems to be a lot of very fun people on here!

My mother surprised me a few weeks ago with an invitation to be her companion through the Panama Canal. We have a cat. 11C GTY so far, so we're waiting patiently (not!) in a lifeboat!

I'm hoping we can meet up with some of you. I've been reading the thread and I'll send PMs to those of you who are planning some of the activities. We would enjoy being a part of the "Champagne Girls" get together and the room tour. We are happy to open our room to the tour, if you really want to see a lifeboat :rotfl2:.

I noticed that several people were on the Sep. westbound TA Magic cruise. My parents were aboard and had a wonderful time. I've cruised Disney once, last May for a 7 night eastern Caribbean trip.

We are counting down the days,

Stephanie

Welcome on board. Your parents are not Marie and John by any chance?

I got so behind with reading this thread that I just replied to various bits and pieces the other day, but never wrote about what I came online for in the first place.

DH did some research the other day on the Mexican ports. We are doing a Mexican Riviera cruise next October and will visit Puerto Vallerta and Cabo San Lucas again. He was not exactly excited about this idea at first. He has now gone and done some research and actually is coming around to the idea. We have now booked an excursion for Puerto Vallerta through DCL.This combines a Whale and Dolphin Watching trip with snorkeling and kayaking on an island near Puerto Vallerta. DH spotted that there is a rare bird on the island that he not come across before. So he was sold. We have to see what we do in Cabo San Lucas and Manzanillo, but I am sure we will come up with something between now and then.

I had ordered two different t shirts from Vistaprint for this cruise and they arrived early in the week. I had one done with the official logo for this thread, but I had it printed on the front rather than on the back. For the second t shirt, I chose Brooklynn’s first design. They both came out great and I love them. I can’t wait to wear them. I also had business cards printed to add to my Fish Extender gift and they have worked out rather well, too.

I should also be able to do my magnets soon. My magnetic cartridge for my Xyron had run out. During the week found a deal on Ebay where I get 4 magnetic cartridges for a little more than I normally pay for one. They arrived today. With all those cartridges, I should be able to do magnets to my heart’s content. I am just waiting for my prints to arrive.

I will have a new camera for this cruise. I love my little Samsung compact camera, but I came aross its limitations during the Transatlantic cruise. I have been eyeing the Panasonic Lumix FZ38 for a couple of years now, but never quite got around to buying it. It is my birthday yesterday day and Graham had decided to get the camera for me. Bless him, he stood in the camera shop and could not remember which one I wanted. So he gave me the cash to buy it. I had noticed that I can get the newest model (Panasonic Lumix FZ45) for a little less on Amazon than the FZ38 costs in the stores around here. So he paid the money back into his account today and then I ordered the camera using his credit card yesterday evening and it has already shipped today. Hopefully it will be here by the end of the week. I have the perfect opportunity over the weekend to give it a test run.

I had to work yesterday and had a rather exciting day. Those of you that have followed the Dubai saga, well, we have lift off. I had spoken to HR in Dubai on Monday and I was promised that they would make arrangements for me to do the written assessment here in Manchester and were supposed to get in touch with me the following day. Of course, that did not happen. I started to get rather frustrated with it all. Yesterday morning I had a call from one of our managers before my alarm had even gone off. She did not say much, just that we had heard from Dubai and could I please bring my passport to work as they needed some information. When I got to work, I saw that they had scheduled my written assessment for that morning. They also wanted a copy of the passport so that they could get started on making arrangements for flights and accommodation for me to come over to Dubai for more assessments and an interview subject to me passing the written assessment. Well, the assessment was easy. It covered what I do in my day to day work. My manager emailed it back and within a couple of hours I got a response that I had passed and they now formally invited me to come to Dubai from November 20th to 22nd for the next stage of the application process. I am just waiting for my confirmation for flights and the hotel now, but I am getting rather excited.

Corinna

It was a lot of fun!:cheer2: Thank you everyone who made the trek down to Mountain View. I really appreciated it, as Cuesta Park is four blocks from our house. Missing from the pictures are Arran & Iona (KayR) and Theo (Loves–to–travel). These three children were delightful and seemed to be having a good time playing in the park.:yay: Thanks to all who brought munchies, too!

Again, thanks to everyone who came - can't wait to see you all again on the cruise!

Congrats, Corinna!:cheer2: We're excited for you, too. Can't wait to hear how the next stage of the application process goes. You'll "ace" it. Will your DH get to accompany you on this trip?

Well congrats Corrina - I hope the next phase goes smoothly. What an awesome place to try out your new camera!

Don't forget the Land's End 30% sale ends today along with the free shipping.

And congrats to 3mmm as well. Pretty awesome.

Well, my day is toast. My brain is dead and I have had the most rotten luck with a project at work but it will be OK - it just WILL.

So have a great evening. I think I will go buy myself a new bathing suit!

When we did the PC Cruise in 2008, we had a 10:30am flight and we made our flight without any problems. One of the BIG differences though was that our flight out was on a Sunday.

We had to show the DCL front desk our tickets so we could be in the first group off the ship and I had a private limo to take us to the airport. We had time to checkin, go through security and even get some breakfast before our flight.

Our flight this time is at 10:50am, but we have to add for traffic this time since our flight is on a Friday and I am not sure how bad traffic will be. If we do miss our flight, at least there is a connecting one at 2:00pm that we can take.

All this talk about new cameras has given me Camera Envy. Don't know why, cuz I love my Sony Cybershots. Yes, that's. I usually have at least 2 cameras in my purse and even use them simultaniously. (Today I was taking pics with one camera while the other was in video mode for DD's ballet presentation to parents. It was so cute watching the 3-4 year olds and now I have it forever, and can share it with the parents that couldn't make it.)

Anyway, I digress. So I just mentioned in passing to DH about all the camera talk, and now he's on the hunt for a new/better camera for me. It sounds like he's leaning toward the Sony Nex-5 over a DSLR. :confused3 But it looks like I'll be sporting a new camera by Hanukkah, just in time for the cruise.

Noticed in the bottom of you sig that you went last year on the October 2009Eastern was that by any chance on the Magic that departed Oct.10th????
We did that cruise also and had a blast......

Also noticed you are from So.Cal....where at exactly?? We live in Rossmoor a small community within Los Alamitos......

It truly would be a small world if we live close to each other and were on the same cruise last year.......

Somehow I missed this post...my bad, sorry about that!
To answer your questions, we were on the Magic for the Oct. 24-31 cruise last year. It was a great time to cruise! We got off the ship and then went to the Halloween Party at WDW:woohoo:
We live a little further east than you...we live in Hemet. I do, however, work as a consultant for WestEd and am often at the site in Los Alamitos. In fact, I am going to be there on Thursday and Friday this week :goodvibes
So, I guess it's not a completely small world, but some pretty close meetings! Maybe we will get to meet on this cruise!

Have a great day!
Melissa
