Thanks for the warm welcome! SO, I'm trying to get the "paperwork" done to sign up for the members list, events, etc, but when I try to PM anyone, I get the message that I can't send PMs until I've posted 10 times???? Is there another way to contact people on the list?

Thanks for your help,

Stephanie

Gee, thanks!!!

GTY stands for Guaranty.

That's great! Can't wait to see it. Still hoping for the 3 ships to meet up at/near Castaway Cay on the 7th :goodvibes

so if Dream follows it's standard 3 day sked they will follow from taking over from Wonder, they will be at nassau on the 7th and cc on 8th and we'll be at cc on 7th. but since it wont' have started it's normal rotation then all bets are off!

Hey fellow cruisers! What do you ladies do to make your nails look pretty for vacation? I am experiementing with the press on ones but not sure about them. What are some good products others have used or tips? I would like to maybe try gel nails but never have had them so not sure how they stand up either especially for the price. Thanks for any advice!

The Magic will be at CC on Thursday and then a sea day on Friday, when we are there. So there was some speculation a while back that the Dream would be in the area as well for one time photo op of the three ships. Again, it was just speculation but many believe that it is a good possibility.

I have natural long nails and plan on getting a good mani/pedi prior to the cruise. I'll just bring my polish with me for re-dos/touchups. Last year, I considered getting a gel overlay so my polish wouldn't wear off easily but after research, I decided not to. It seems that it can take a long time for natural nails to recover from the overlays.

Do some research on the internet and find a salon that does Shellac by Creative Nails. The polish cures under a UV light and it truly lasts 2 weeks. But, I also have natural nails. Love it - I have had ten nails for months. I will need to find a salon somewhere as my 12/21 mani will not last until I get home, or even on the ship.

Hello Everyone!:cool2:

My mom (Cruisin' Dearie) and I will be joining you on this amazing cruise. I was very excited to find the DISboards and this thread, even though we are kind of late in joining. There seems to be a lot of very fun people on here!

My mother surprised me a few weeks ago with an invitation to be her companion through the Panama Canal. We have a cat. 11C GTY so far, so we're waiting patiently (not!) in a lifeboat!

I'm hoping we can meet up with some of you. I've been reading the thread and I'll send PMs to those of you who are planning some of the activities. We would enjoy being a part of the "Champagne Girls" get together and the room tour. We are happy to open our room to the tour, if you really want to see a lifeboat :rotfl2:.

I noticed that several people were on the Sep. westbound TA Magic cruise. My parents were aboard and had a wonderful time. I've cruised Disney once, last May for a 7 night eastern Caribbean trip.

We are counting down the days,

Stephanie

:welcome: Stephanie and Mom. Glad to have you joining us. We are going to have an awesome time.

Yes, just keep posting, even if you do a count down to get to your ten in.

Santa visited with us today - at ABC Warehouse. We are the proud owners of a 50" LG TV. I will say, they are much different than the last one we got 15 years ago!

Thanks for the recommendation! I just searched and found 3 salons here in Pearland that do the Shellac Polish. The place I normally go to isn't listed so I think I'll call them just to make sure before I head somewhere else.

Welcome aboard !

Just post to this and other boards a few times and you will soon reach 10!

Happy anniversary to everyone who is celebrating today! Very happy, just bought a bunch of Disney gift cards at Sam's club. $100 cards cost $98.97 and you get a $10 card to the Disney store.:)

Can you use the gift cards to pay your charges made on the ship or are they only good at the Disney Stores?:confused3
We have talked about getting them for the Alaska cruise with the family, but didn't know if the kids & grandestkids could use them to pay their charges.
Thanks, Joyce

Enjoyed meeting everyone today at the Cracker Barrel. It was amazing how much we had in common- from Disney- teaching- Going to DL after cruise- UCONN women's basketball. It is going to be a fun cruise- that is if I ever get off the lifeboat. Thanks Linda for arranging this.

Welcome!

So I have it on good authority that the entertainment dept of the Wonder has been invited to see a matinee of the new show on the Dream on the day we get on the ship to this cruise! my DD told me!! so at least the 2 will be in port same day, she's not sure about the 3rd. but they are invited! cool!!

Yay, it will be fun to see the Dream. I finally changed my countdowns since we leave for DL in the morning and added our Dream cruise next Nov.

Kinda like Dory...just keep posting, just keep posting! :rotfl:

Today has been washing and packing as we are taking our DGS, nieces and nephew to DL in the morning. We have a pretty good ratio 4 adults to 4 kids (10, 5, 3, 3). The kids are all very excited.

I'm looking forward to meeting Des and Suzan on Wed evening. :goodvibes

:welcome: Welcome to the group Stephanie.

You can keep posting as several have already mentioned to get to the requisit post count so you can send PMs. Or you can just email your info directly to Jeff at monorailpilot@gmail.com.

Figured I'd post this here to see if/when cabins are assigned for all of us on a GTY. In another post the wonder cabins have been assigned through the end of December, so they are getting closer to our cruise!

Not expecting to get an upgrade, but will hapily take one. I'd just like to know what cabin we have.

So if anyone is checking once a day (or more) to see what cabin you've received, don't forget to post any upgrades. :)

Everything you buy on the ship gets charged to your onboard account. You can put the gift cards onto your onboard account to cover payment of anything you charge on the ship.

Hope that helps

Russ and I also really enjoyed meeting everyone at Cracker Barrel this morning. If we could have this much fun with just 6 of us at breakfast, the 15 day cruise with everyone will be AWESOME!!!
Thanks to Linda!

My nail salon just started a "gel color" manicure that lasts 2 weeks. I got one over 3 weeks ago, and one nail is just now starting to chip. It is only $20 versus the normal manicure which is $10. It might be the same as shellac, but I'm not sure.

If you get started now, you will have some growth on your own nails and won't need tips. I am not kidding - in the time I have had them on, I have had consistently 10 great looking nails. I am very pleased.

Someone had on 'my' WDW sweatshirt - except mine is blue :goodvibes. Love that shirt and am sad that it is starting to fray.

To me it is well worth the price. And a mani that lasts that long, even on natural nails is worth the price.

Well, nothing much to report - chilly and damp. Tomorrow it is back to the grind. And yes, I am thankful that I have a grind to go to. So everyone enjoy what is left of the weekend and have a good week.

I have naturally long nails so it'll be great to have a good "polish" that won't start chipping in a few days. But I do get the occasional break or split so I guess this would prevent that???

Welcome!

Afternoon all :) A big welcome to Stephanie (that's my eldest's name, too :woohoo: )

I've got an unexpected 1.5 hours free this afternoon - 5th class art has been cancelled today due to an excursion (just a pity no-one happened to mention it to me..... grrrrr), so I thought I'd get started on my "home stretch" things to do. Only a handful left now, thankfully !

Anyway, I know I've asked a gajillion times already, and you've all been so good - but would you LA locals be able to help me once more ?

Looking at a map of LA, it looks like we dock way down south - correct ? LAX looks like it's about mid-way up the coast - but reasonably close to Venice Beach and the like ? Melissa - you mentioned the Grove - what suburb is that in again ? I think I"m liking more and more the idea of booking a room at one of the LAX hotels for the day, and hiring a car, with the hotel as a base until our very late flight, then doing a little bit of sightseeing / shopping. Does that sound doable ?

I really appreciate all the help and suggestions :)

Oh, TENYA - yes, I got your email - a reply shall be forthcoming, and yes, I'm more than happy to pop you on the same dining rotation.

Actually, a timely reminder...... for MAIN DINERS Anyone wanting to hop on the same dining rotation - please send me a PM - details can be found on page one of the thread :)

Off to enjoy some "quiet time" :)

Cheers,
Sally :)

Another quickie - I've decided to have a Disney tell-all this Friday. It's my 40th on Saturday, so our holiday will be the primary topic of discussion amongst family at my birthday dinner, as they all know about the trip. As such, the kdis will need to know before then, so Friday we will be having a Disney party. Fridays are my favourite day of the week anyway - no work, no homework, no extra-curricular, so the perfect opportunity to break it to them. I am going to make them each a little Disney package, and we will have a Disney themed cake, and an "everyone will eat this" dinner :rotfl:

The only fly in the ointment is my silly dental appointment Friday morning

39 sleeps to go ! :cool1:

Cheers,
Sally :)
