Des- the lanyards arrived in the mail today! I was so excited when I got home from work just now and saw the package waiting for me! The lanyards look awesome, thanks again for organizing this and mailing them out, I cant believe they got here so fast. Cant wait to show it off on the cruise!

Glad they made it! I will be anxious until everyone who asked for them to be mailed gets them...I would be heartbroken for anything to happen to them. I was surprised your made it so fast - I think you were the furthest away of the ones I had mailed - next batch going out tomorrow!

Well, looks like project Dubai is back on track. I had a call from a lovely lady at HR in Dubai today and she wanted to discuss the terms and conditions of the job with me. I was pretty impressed. They would provide a two bedroom apartment, transport between the accommodation and work, health insurance and a few other perks. It would mean working night shifts again, but I used to love working nights.

They are now making arrangements for me to do the written assessment here in Manchester and if I should pass this, I would then be invited to Dubai for further assessments and interviews. Keep you fingers crossed for me.

I had some more good news at work today. Since September 1st, we have operated one of our two daily services in and out of Manchester with an A380. On November 30th, 6 team leaders will get a tour of the aircraft. I am one of the lucky 6. I am so excited. I was lucky enough to fly in an A380 at the beginning of the year, but I was traveling in economy and did not get the chance to see the Business and First class cabins. This time I will get to see the whole aircraft.

I am still patiently waiting for my room assignment. I know that I probably have to wait until November 22nd, but the excitement has taken hold here.

Corinna

Good luck with the Dubai opportunity. Sounds like an awesome opportunity. And, congrats on the A380 tour as well.

Well, another Monday down - that leaves six more and then we leave for Florida. Yahooooooooooo! :dance3::banana::banana::dance3:

The first group of lanyards was mailed a few days ago and some of you more local may get them today - let me know when you do! (Can you tell I am anxious that they all make it to thier destinations?) :rotfl2:

At our Dis-meet..we were discussing the Rocky Horror Picture Show... do you think they will let us play that on the big screen and we can have a dive in movie? :lmao:

I have been working on my Holiday cards today so I can mail them in a couple of weeks..things are moving so quickly..I really don't see how I am going to get everything done!

1. I got my lanyards - Thank you! ;) :lmao:

2. I'm still up for watching the Rocky Horror Picture Show for the first time. in its entirety that is. double

Hi,

Off the subject but just heard this morning that DH and I have got tickets to Oprah Winfreys show coming to Australia on December 14th. They are filming it on the step of the Sydney Opera House.
:yay:

I am so excited for you!:cool1: Always wanted to see that! Closest I got was a taping at Disneyland of a segment where a wonderful lady who helps abandon babies get into good homes got to reunite with all her babies. Neat thing was they drove her all the way down mainstreet with blacked out windows in a limo, she had no idea! She opened the door to the car to see Oprah, John Stamos and the castle, my kind of surprise! Please post a report, and have fun!-Safety Mouse's wife

Very cute! There was one in someone's siggie I assumed was for this cruise...
Did you mean this one??

It still needs some work as the clarity is not quite right and colors are not as vibrant as I would like, but I was not able to work on it today.

:welcome:To all of the new posters!!:welcome:

To all of you talking Sci Fi...WHAT!!! I know I am a bit of an anomaly seeing as how I am a science nerd, but I really cannot see the fascination with it. :confused3 Sorry, I know it is practically a religion to some!:darth::yoda:

Our lanyards arrived this morning. They are great!:cheer2: I put them with my FE gifts and Champagne Girls gear, so I wouldn't forget to bring them.

Thanks for all your work on this, Des!:yay:

That's it!

You are kidding, right ;)

I have only seen it about 450 times or so when I was younger... we went every Sat night! :rotfl2:

Made it home from Dallas a couple of hours ago - glad to be home. I feel like I've got so much to do before the cruise, it's coming up so fast! Still no assignment yet. Anyway, while I was there, went to the Disney Outlet. They had quite a bit of Disneyland merchandise, which I've never seen at the mall stores before. Found DS a cute shirt from DL and DH a nice Grumpy hat. It was originally 21.99 but marked down to 5.99.

All this talk of Sci-Fi, I'll admit I'm a bit lost. I have never seen Star Wars, Star Trek, ect. DH likes them, as does DD but I have no interest. My BFF tells me that if I just give Star Wars a try, I would like it. Maybe some day.

You are kidding, right ;)

 I wish. My parents were very strict and by the time I was able to go against his orders, I had left for the army. Just never got around to it I guess.

That's it!

Des was telling me about it and I've seen some excerpts and totally missed the Glee version of it also so I'm going to have to make it a point to sit down one time and see it.

We can always have a RHPS night at my house!

I know, I can believe they got here that fast to NJ from you in CA! What a pleasant surprise it was to come home to tonight after a cold rainy day here : )

My husband, retired Coast Guard, gets really upset when passengers and especially crew don't take the life boat drills seriously. He thinks Disney does a pretty good job.
Article just showing up on AOL news. Luckly, sounds like no serious injuries but a shame their vacation is ruined.

The Carnival Splendor cruise ship is in limbo about 150 miles south of San Diego after a fire in the engine room.

The US Coast Guard is sending two ships to the scene, Petty Officer Henry Dunphy tells AOL Travel News. The location is about 55 miles west of Punta San Jacinto, Mexico.

"The fire has been extinguished however there continues to be smoke in the area and the ship's fire crews remain on the scene," Carnival Cruise Lines says in a statement.
The 113,000-ton ship has 3,266 guests and approximately 1,100 crew members onboard, according to Dunphy.

The ship left Long Beach on a 7-night Mexican Rivera cruise on Sunday evening. The fire broke out in the engine room around 6 a.m. this morning, and took about three hours to contain. Then there was a re-flash about 45 minutes after that, Dunphy says.

The ship's engines were shutdown. "At this point they are trying to get the propulsion started again," he says.

Guests were moved from their cabins to the open Lido deck.

"Announcements began at approximately 6.30am advising guests of the situation and asking them to move from their cabins to the ship's Lido Deck, which is an upper level deck with outdoor space," Carnival says in its statement. "Guests are being provided with bottled water and food items and are able to move around on the ship's upper open deck areas."

Two guests and a crew member reportedly suffered panic attacks, but no other injuries were reported.

The Coast Guard is sending two cutters to the scene to assist, the 225-foot-long Aspen out of San Francisco and the 110-foot Edisto out of San Diego, Dunphy says.

We were on the magic last November and there was a fire in the Engine Room. I think it was just after we left St. Thomas. Disney handled it very efficiently. It was fairly close to our room and we could see/smell the smoke and the haz/mat fire team went down our hallway with their gear. A few people got a little panicy (SP?), but for the most part everyone was calm. There was no evacutation and we just went to dinner as usual. We met my husband at the table and he thought we were joking when we told him. He didn't hear the announcements.

All the science geeks are bringing back College memories :happytv:...how funny!

Another cruise graphic. I really wish I had the time to make more but slowly I will get more made. I love making magnets for our doors. :) Feel free to use this or anything else I post. :)

PanamaCanalCruiseBumperStickercopy.jpg

I know I will use them. I will have fun walking the halls of the ship counting how many use your designs for door magnets.

Me and my logical brain knows that, but I have never had a GTY room before and it is killing me not knowing where we will be. (Do you think I have obsessive compulsive vacation planning disorder?)

At least I know we have a room :thumbsup2.

Hello!

A lot of cruisers are runners.....does anyone enjoy yoga?

I've done a few classes on the ships on deck 7. Balance poses can be a challenge sometimes! We like to cruise in January and EVERY time, the Disney CM that teaches yoga says it's "TOO Cold or windy " to have the class on the beach at CC. He was obviously not from Iowa! So I do it by myself because I think it's beautiful, warm and the ultimate place to "Ommmm"

I'm bringing a travel mat with me for my own practice on the ship. Sometimes someone in the fitness center will check out a mat to me and sometimes they won't. I like to find a quiet place on the ship and do my own thing.

Would anyone like to join me? I was thinking of deciding on possible times when we get onboard. Maybe just have a list of interested folks and send a message around after we see the day's activities. I've signed up for so many fun things already and I also go to everything DIsney plans!!! I WILL need to schedule a moment to slow down.

And if anyone would just like to try it? I've been doing yoga for several years but definitely not a "pretzel" person! And it's for any body type . I'm 55 and a bit overweight, although working on it!...... I enjoy the stretching and calmness of the practice. I have some "classes" that are on my i-pod. And sometimes when I'm with others who don't have a pre-planned flow that they always do.......we just say "hey, let's do this pose next." So my sessions are very flexible and friendly.

I'll see if a list can be put on the first page if more then one person is interested.

Namaste Barb
As much as I like yoga, I always have to go for the fat buring stuff on the ship:rolleyes1
We're loaning out our room since we have a cat 2....
You guys are very kind.

I LOVE THE ROCKY HORRER SHOW, we we renewed our wedding vows a few years ago and re done our wedding night, we had the time warp as our first dance,:rotfl2::rotfl2:

And I never even noticed it. It is brilliant!!! Now I wish I was in a lifeboat so I could copy it. Not really of course!!;)

Just checking in. I wanted to get in on the Star Trek Movie debate. Now I loath Star Trek V as much as the majority of other fans, but I have to give Shatner a little slack after watching the movie with his commentary on. He had a very small budget. The movie still stinks but now I know why. My favorite is Star Trek IV followed by VI then III then II then I. II has one of the worst edits I have ever seen. If you want to know ask me on the ship because I don't want to type it. The latest on by J.J. was incredible. I knew I was going to love it when I heard the Bestie Boys.

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

My fingers are crossed so hard for you my knuckles are white! I SO hope you get this job!

Hii

Getting over the shock of getting the Oprah tickets. Now to find something to wear!! Oprah said wear BRIGHT colors:cool1:

Myself, DH and DS (Amanda , Toby and Max (9)) will be in Orlando for a week before the cruise.

It is will be our first cruise with Disney.

You sure have lots of lovely things to look forward to! You must be on :cloud9:

To all of you talking Sci Fi...WHAT!!! I know I am a bit of an anomaly seeing as how I am a science nerd, but I really cannot see the fascination with it. :confused3 Sorry, I know it is practically a religion to some!:darth::yoda:

I'm with you Melissa - worked in science & engineering for years but I can't see this fascination either - :confused3

Just checking in.

Good Morning, Alan.

At least it's not snowing here this morning. A warm up is predicted, thank goodness, but yesterday was a dire warning of things to come.

Looking forward to Florida and the cruise - and even Disneyland - but NOT to coming back to the frozen north,

Happy Day, all!
