From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 4

We would love to get together with everyone here in Central Florida sometime prior to the cruise. A trip to a WDW park would be fun. Please let me know if you have any interest. I'm thinking one of the following Saturdays:
  • Nov. 20
  • Dec. 4
  • Dec. 11

Once we decide who is interested and which Saturday will work best, we can pick a park. If admissions are an issue we can meet up at Downtown Disney or a resort. Even if you don't live in Central Florida but may be in the area, feel free to join us.

The only day that we'll be up there is December 11, but that's the All Ears/ Mousefest/ RADP weekend, so I'm not sure if we'll be able to meet up.

I am off to Disney AKL for a couple of days then a 4 day Halloween cruise on the Wonder. I am really looking forward to the vacation, but I know that there will be a million posts to get caught up as I do not plan of checking anything while I am away.

Enjoy the next week, getting cold here, around 40, and they got at least 5 inches of the white stuff out west in Sask.

Phil

We sure did get 5 inches of snow and it sure didn't help that it rained half an inch the day before....ug

I am starting to try to catch up. I have been frighteningly ill :sick:for 8 blasted weeks. It included a hemiplegic migraine (presents like a stroke!?!?!?) on Sep 19th (I rarely even get standard headaches so this was quite alarming). I was such a mess I had to ask my parents to come and look after me (I am 42). Dr's are calling the whole nasty business viral and happily I am feeling better.

I WAS TERRIFIED I WOULD HAVE TO CANCEL THIS CRUISE!!!!!

Happily I did not and when the fog started to lift my parents said...

CAN WE COME TOO?

So my Mom and Dad are coming along. I am so pleased for them. They are going to have a marvelous time.

I did manage to get to WDW for the wine and dine half but did not run. The doctors wouldn't even let me go on rides in case I had a brain tumor (MRI says no tumor - yippee!).

I shall spend the next few days doing some catching up and signing up. I was stunned to see 10 weeks!!!!!!

Happy Halloween to those who celebrate it! I celerate anything I can get my hands on!

Wow, that really was bad and scary. I'm so pleased you are doing well now and all is OK!!:thumbsup2 Good news your parents are on the trip too.

Izma---glad you are feeling better!!!

I would love to do the jewelry and the photo scavenger hunt!

The scrapbooking sounds fun, but daunting since I'm not that creative and I would hate to make bad pages (plus I'm not sure I'll have the time to make several pages before we go I work in retail and this is the busiest time for us ;)) Is there a way to contribute financially instead?

I am in awe :worship: of all of the wonderful things that you all are planning!! This is going to be a wonderful cruise!!!

My DH and I are planning on doing the Castaway Cay 5k, he runs, but I walk (might take me about an hour) 2 questions 1) anyone else walking? 2) anyone making a shirt? If so would you mind sharing your design :goodvibes

Can't wait!!!

I would love to do another one Corinna. I would also bring my last one to finish off. I did mean to borrow some tools from you later in the cruise, but you know what it was like, I just got lazier and forgot!!! I only have a couple of beads to put on and the clasp though.

Irrespective of if this is going to go ahead, I am happy to bring a set of tools.

That sounds VERY interesting! Do you have a connection in China?

No, other than that my employer flies there. I lost a lot of weight over the last year and had to face essentially replacing my whole cruise wardrobe. I am still a plus size though and just could not find anything that was sufficiently formal for my taste, would fit me and not break the bank. I Googled "Plus size evening gown" and got a link for an Ebay seller. I saw the dress and had fallen in love. It would be custom made to my measurements and I had a wide choice of styles and colours. It took me a further 3 months until I was brave enough to contact the seller with some questions. This initially interaction was very positive and I decided to give it a go. The dress was cheap as far as evening gowns go so I had not too much to lose. The seller was a charm to deal with and when the dress arrived, it literally took my breath away. This would have been easily worth 4 times what I paid. The quality was outstanding and it was a perfect fit. Here is a photo of the first dress:

So when we were discussing dressing up for Villains Night, I had a quick looks around for purple dresses locally, but soon ended up on Ebay again. This came from a different seller, but he was also based in Shanghai and just as much a joy to deal with as the first one. This is the second dress:

The new dress is coming from the same seller as the second dress.

Love to do it! Make a plan and PM me so I can put it on the first page.

Plan made. I seem to have the best ideas when I am in the pool. I had a nice long swim today and came up with what I could offer. I will PM you later and also cross post to here so that people can sign up if interested.

Corinna, this would be fun. I can bring my tools again if you need them.

I got home last night after five days at WDW. What fun I had with my adult son and my friends that live there. We did all four parks and it was a 'hammer down' week but we saw almost everything and did a lot. I am exhausted but it was worth it. This was the first time we did the Dining Plan and it was great. We ate at Raglan Roads, 'Ohana's, Yakitori House and 50's PrimeTime. It certainly paid for itself.

So many great ideas out there for things to do on the cruise. We are going to have a fantastic time, no doubt about it! Here's one more or maybe it's already been suggested and I missed it. How about a meeting place after late dining for those of us older ones that just want to sit and relax but not ready to go to the room yet? On the WBTA we met at the Cove Cafe, had a drink, reviewed the day and got to know each other more. Sometimes there were 20 people and sometimes 6. Some showed up alone cause their partner wanted to go to sleep but they didn't so they could still socialize. Anyway, just a thought. It was very informal, no planning or sign ups necessary and no age limit, young or old.

I'm off to PM about several things so watch your inboxes.....hahaha

Have a great weekend!

I would appreciate this. I am thinking in terms of a more advanced workshop as well. Last time round I did the same projects in every workshop and I have to say this got a little boring for me. This time round I am thinking about making different stuff in each workshop. I will also make the groups smaller.

I am glad that you enjoyed your time at WDW.

DH will probably run the 5K. I might walk it, but have not decided yet. I had a gorgeous t shirt for Castaway Cay for the last cruise with a design that Jordak on the Cruise Magnet thread made. I might get him to adapt this for the 5K when he is back from his vacation.

Holy moly you all have been busy. I tried to catch up and hope I didn't miss anything important.

Val - will send you a PM.

Izma - so glad things are improving. Scary.

Harole Ann - I am in Elyria.

Cove Cafe after dinner gatherings - these 2 geezers will try and make it, at least on the nights we don't go to the clubs after dinner.

Jewelry making - that would be interesting and fun.

I am sure I missed several things but will have to wait for more computer time than what I have now. Take care everyone!

Jewellery Making Workshops: I am willing to run up to 4 jewellery making workshops, each with different projects. The first 3 will be for older kids (12 and up) and adults. The last one is for kids (6 to 11). I will accept up to 6 people in each workshop. All but one are suitable for beginners. The advanced ones requires you to have some previous experience and you need to be comfortable with opening and closing jump rings. The workshops will last 1 hour each.

Workshop 1

Pirates, Princesses and Fairies

We will make three different items: a key chain, a cellphone charm and a bag charm. They will have a pirate, princess and pirate theme respectively. Cost per person will be GBP15 for the materials.

Workshop 2

Formal Night Jewellery

Would you like to make your own jewellery for formal night. Here is your chance. We will work with memory wire to make a choker, bangle and pair of earrings. You choose the main colours. Cost per person will be GBP15 for the materials.

Workshop 3

Linked crystals (advanced). For this workshop you need to have some previous experience and you need to be comfortable with opening and closing jump rings. We will work with Swarovski Crystal connectors plus jump and split rings. It would also be helpful if you had your own tools as you might need to finish this off later. You will be able to make a matching set consisting of necklace, bracelet and earrings. Cost per person will be GBP25 for the materials.

Here is a photo of an example set:

SDC10968.jpg

Workshop 4

Kids Workshop. We will make a bag charm/ zipper pull with a choice of Princess or Fairy theme. We will also make a bangle with your name and crystals in your favourite colour out of memory wire. Cost per person is GBP10.

If you are interested in the workshops, please PM me with what workshop you are interested in.

HOW SCAREY! I'm REALLY glad you are better. (& dh, the skier is REALLY jealous of your 5 inches of white stuff, lol)

IS there such a thing as bad pages? But you're right - time is short and we're coming into the busy season of the year for most everyone.

Irrespective of if this is going to go ahead, I am happy to bring a set of tools.

You look LOVELY in them - I see why you want another!

Good morning all! Just saying hi. We are getting ready to take the kids to WDW to celebrate potty success. Our DS3 has not had an accident for 2+ weeks and our DD who will be 2 next month has gone for more than a week!! Looking forward to NO diapers on this cruise! :cool1:
Maybe since there are so few kids on this cruise they'll let DD hang out in the club with her brother sometimes.

Hurray! I think toilet training is the one thing that I really hated, I still have one more to toilet train...:scared: And unfortunately, we will be bringing nappies on the cruise. He will be having nappy boxes as his luggage!

We would love to get together with everyone here in Central Florida sometime prior to the cruise. A trip to a WDW park would be fun. Please let me know if you have any interest. I'm thinking one of the following Saturdays:

We'll be there at WDW on Dec 11. Unfortunately, that's the day we're celebrating a birthday and when our group is meeting up with other friends. I'll make note of time and place though if Dec 11 is the final choice, just in case we can swing by and say hello. It'd be nice!

Corinna, You look beautiful! We never did get to meet on the med cruise which was a shame. I still have the FE gift you made attached to my hand bag! I love it.

Hi all. I just wanted to say to all the Rangers we have, every true Dodgers fan is pulling for you tonight.

Les - how awfully scary for you ! Glad you've recovered, and that your parents can join you, too :)

Corinna I love the baby blue dress. What a great activity, too - I'll ponder it for a day....

I stayed up until 3.30 am to watch the Dream launch - I must be mad ! She looks gorgeous, though :)

Last call for a shared trip to port from WDW on embarkation day - we'll also be doing a grocery stop if that helps.

Happy Halloween to those who celebrate it !

Cheers,
Sally :)

Hi all. I just wanted to say to all the Rangers we have, every true Dodgers fan is pulling for you tonight.

Thanks Alan!!! We need this win. So far so good tonight :goodvibes I missed the first 3 + innings and was happy to turn on the TV to discover they were up.

Count me as another rooting for the Rangers. But, we are watching Ohio State as they trump any team there is.

We leave tomorrow morning for the six hour drive back north. Was a pleasant few days visiting with the folks but as with everything, all good things must come to an end.

oh yeah!!! late night gathering, low key sitting and talking, yeah!!! someone talked about sunrise - i dont know - is there a sunrise on vacation?? oh yeah, maybe as you're heading off to bed after sitting in the Cove chatting with new friends!!
That sounds like a lot of fun...I tend to stay up late and get up early while on vacation. When it's over, I end up needing another vacation!
On some of our past cruises we hung out at the Promenade Lounge (does it have the same name on the Wonder?). We would listen to the music and chat. That was fun too.
Izma---glad you are feeling better!!!

Cindy, so glad to hear that someone else may walk. I have been trying to build my endurance as I have asthma and was out of shape...now that I'm back in shape, it takes me longer than most to handle any endurance run. I hope I will be able to run the whole thing, but I may be joining you as a walker:goodvibes

Izma, I'm so glad you are feeling better. What a scare for you!!

Corrina, you and the dresses are beautiful! The jewelery making sounds fun as well.

To all, I hope you have a wonderful weekend and a happy Halloween!
