Good Morning - Room mate! About time you wandered over here!!!!

Gang, this is one of my roomies, Eilean! (She of the - going Zip-Lining - fame.)

GLAD to hear you don't have any real problems, MomE! :thumbsup2

I'm always cold, so on the plane, I will be wearing long pants, probably long sleeve shirt, closed shoes and my jacket system *will* be in my carry on. Besides, it's easier to wear them than pack them. I'll need that stuff again in California, where it's been known to get nippy at night:eek:

Well I am going to be travelling in a long pair, and possibly taking another pair. I'm a 'just in case' person, but also we have 4 nights at DL after the cruise and 3 in San Diego, so not sure how good the weather will be. Crumbs, we were in Orlando for 6 weeks this last Feb/March, and it was very cold. I was washing and wearing my 3 pairs of long trousers then.

I will be (over)packing everything from long trousers and a fleecy cardigan to shorts and strappy sun tops!!!:lmao:

Where in Ohio are you going? I am right across the river from Steubenville, Ohio. Have a safe & happy trip. We lucked out with the high wind warning as it passed us by this time.

My Dads side of the family are all from the Steubenville area!! Now I have to visit both you and Lynn when I get deeper into the geneaology from that side!!:cool1:

Beautiful Homecoming couple!

And I think its safe to say just about all of us will be overpacked!! But thats part of the fun. Right!?

CHAMPAGNE GIRLS UPDATE – Calling all Champagne Girls and Wanna-bes (all are welcome)
Champagne Girls Celebration-. Ladies pack your pink boas and tiaras in anticipation of confabulation and libations, especially champagne, and of course amazing merrymaking.
The PC cruise ladies have voted for an organized tasting but, if this is not possible, will meet on our own. Of course the event will be captured for posterity, by a photographer from Shutters and/or our own.
DCL Request Department has been sent an e-mail requesting the private champagne tasting. To date we have not heard back from them. I have sent a FAX asking for confirmation of receipt of our request and requesting information on when we can anticipate the positive response we are hoping for. Will advise when I hear back from them.

Capris and sandals for me. Dont want to waste time when they have me take off shoes for screening, lol

Postcard Exchange Update
How it works: cruisers buy postcards of their area/country/town/city etc. and deliver them to each person/cabin on the list. Some people elect to make their own postcard using photos they have taken. Others print local recipes on a card. It is great fun to come back to your cabin and find mail.

So far we have 28 cabins signed up. If you would like to join us (or I have inadvertently left you off the list – sorry) pm me your cabin number, dis-name, and any special requests.

Hi All,
Another busy day and I have a major headache:sick:!!! The group I worked with today could drive me to drink...Heavily!!!
Anyway, I hope all is well and that everyone had/has a great day!

I'm ready to hunker down in comfy clothes and watch the game. And, while I will happily shout GO GIANTS for the world to hear, I agree with you all about supporting all teams. But, I do understand a persons dislike for the rival team...I have nothing against ANY sports team, but it's like I'm hardwired to dislike the Dodgers. The same is true in football. I grew up in the 80's, during the 49ers "Golden" years. During that time their biggest rivals were the Cowboys so I can't like them either. So strange these loyalties we have:confused3

I'm a Yankee fan, I've said from the start that Jack (DS) can follow any team (including the Mets), but he better not be a Red Sox fan......

Just wanted to share some pictures of Nathan and Maelynne before going to Homecoming last Saturday.

Thanks for the update. I'm looking forward to it -- found a boa yesterday, so I'm all set! :cheer2:

ROOM TOUR UPDATE
How it works: Cruisers volunteer to let others visit their cabin and see what the different categories are like. So, on a sea day, at an established time, (final time set after other event times are published) starting on the lowest deck, we visit the different category of cabins. It is great fun to parade down the halls meeting each other and getting a real look at those rooms we all take only a quick peak into as we pass an open door. Additionally, it allows us to share cabin living ideas such as use of an over-the-door shoe storage hanger to put all the “stuff” that ends up set everywhere; or printing a few 4x6x pictures each night at Shutters and decorating one wall as the cruise progresses. Here is a list of people who have generously offered their room at this time and the categories we are still looking for. We will finalize the list once GTY and upgrade assignments are made. Val

ARUBA SAIL & SNORKEL UPDATE
Where can we go for a sailboat ride, lunch, snorkeling and some fishing in the most beautiful coastline this side of Venezuela? Tranquilo, a 43-foot charter sailboat in Aruba. With 14 or more people, Tranquilo will sail us an hour south from the Wonder to a snorkeling or dockside playtime, with the option of fishing, too. Snorkel in waist high water or choose to try a different type of snorkeling, drift snorkeling. The Tranquilo will launch a small boat and accompany “drift snorkeling” passengers as the gentle currents carry us through deeper water, allowing us to relax as we watch for exotic fish and corals in “Aruba’s most virgin reef.” Try both.
Cost: $75 each, plus tip.UPDATE; ANTHONY WRITES HE CAN TAKE PAYMENT BY CREDIT CARD IF INFO IS RECEIVED BY 1-3-11. A YOUR E-MAILS WOULD BE YOUR RECEIPT UNTIL THE DAY OF THE TOUR WHEN HE WOULD PROVIDE A PAPER RECEIPT. PM ME FOR ANTHONY’S CONTACT INFO. Includes sail, snorkel equipment, fishing, beverages and lunch. For additional details in posting #1 on page 1.
The following 5 cruiser families have expressed strong interest in joining us. There is room for a few more so PM me if you would like more info or to come with us on this exciting ride. Val

PUNTARENAS, COSTA RICA TOURS UPDATE

03.jpg

Ride in an air-conditioned spacious vehicle, being driven by an experienced driver, to Costa Rica’s most popular national park, Manuel Antonio, where our private nature guide will give us a narrative of the geologic features, national history, local botany, as well as exotic tropical birds, monkeys and sloths we will see. Guide will provide books, binoculars and a spotting scope we can share during our tour.

Then enjoy the Manuel Antonio beach, equally good for snorkeling, swimming and just laying on the beach before a lunch stop at a quality restaurant where we can choose among traditional Costa Rican favorites or more familiar foods, such as burgers and fries or sandwiches.

On the way back to the ship we will have an opportunity, if time permits, to stop at a number of photo opportunities and souvenir shopping spots. These might include Villa Lupas and Santa Lucia, an eco-friendly resort within a tranquil rain-forest preserve for nature lovers.

UPDATE: Oddessy has offered to provide us with two 34 seat buses for 14 to 22 passengers and two 16 seat vans for groups between 6 and 8 passengers, allowing ample room for a comfortable journey and movement to see animal sightings. There will be both adriver and nature guide on each vehicle.

The cost of this full-day tour, with park entry fee and lunch included is $85 per person plus tip. Children under 8 years old receive 15% off, under age 3 are free. Oddessy Tours can now accept credit card payments.

The following 5 cruiser families have indicated they will be joining us on this tour. PM me if you have would like additional info or wish to join us. Val

We are also going to San Diego after the cruise, but wont see you there--we are doing 3 nights at DL, then on Monday the 24th we are driving down to SD for the day and then taking the redeye flight home late that evening. Let me know if you want any advice on where to visit in SD- I lived there from 2004-2007 during college and have some great recommendations if you need any. Since we only have one day we're just going to briefly visit my college, then go to Coronado or La Jolla for the day, but if you have a few days there is so much you can do.

I'm a Yankee fan, I've said from the start that Jack (DS) can follow any team (including the Mets), but he better not be a Red Sox fan......

My uncle (my dads brother), who had season tickets to the Dodgers and took me to about 45-50 games a year told ne before he passed, if I ever became a Yannke fan or a Giants fan then he would have cut me off from the tickets and never acknowledged I was his nephew.

Thank you.:thumbsup2 We are really looking forward to visiting there. It is quite daunting at first when you start looking at a new place to visit, plus there are very definite areas in San Diego so I also had a problem deciding where to stay. In the end we have decided on Downtown/Gaslamp area because most of all we enjoy walking around as much as we can, and also we wanted to go to the Midway. We love sitting enjoying a coffee and people watching too. That means we can save money on having a car for the length of stay, but means we won't get out and about. However, we only have 2 full days. I haven't booked yet, still browsing the hotel websites, though of course many places are very expensive.

I have booked flights back to Orlando on Friday 28th.

Yes San Diego is beautiful but I agree it is very expensive, my rent increased dramatically each year where I lived, needless to say my parents were thrilled that I managed to graduate in 3 years instead of 4 and then moved back home. Anyway if I may make a suggestion, I know you said you want to save money not having a car, but the Gaslamp downtown stay wont really get you a good perspective of San Diego. It is nice enough, but really not much different/nicer than other retail/restaurant areas of other big cities. I always tell people if they are visiting SD for only a day or so, the two best areas are La Jolla and Coronado, both about 15 minutes outside of the city. Both you dont need a car while there once you get there- both are walkable towns full of shops, restaurants, and stunning views--Coronado is more beachy while La Jolla is perched in the cliffs so most of the cafes and restaurants actually look down onto the Pacific bluffs and have stunning views, and most have rooftop open dining areas as well. You wont have a bad time in downtown gaslamp- it is nice- its just way nicer and more unique to the SD area if you visit Coronado or La Jolla for a special experience.

Thanks Nicole. I guess a lot depends on the weather as to what we do decide to do. I did fancy a walk on the beach on Coronado, but hadn't thought about La Jolla.
