Just a quick question - does Southwest assign seats or is it more a cattle call? As in open seating? Haven't done it in over a decade but last time I flew somewhere on it - it was open call seating I think.

Somewhere in between. No assigned seats, but not a total free for all cattle call either- although some people still make it like that, I posted my latest Southwest unruly customer story a couple months back. Anyway they still have the A, B, C groups they had from years ago but now they have broken it down by letter and number groups of five- so for example instead of just being group A your ticket may say 'A16' which means you get in the line at a 'post' that says something like '15-20', since you are number 16. They still call the A's first, then B's and then C's, just going more in a number order. People still mess it up though and try to beat the system which is why I generally have no patience for SW unless the fare is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the other options. I know some people say whats the big deal, a seat is a seat, and they couldnt care less, but I am not one of them, I am not very picky, I just want an aisle anywhere onboard, but that is enough for me to prefer an assigned seat than deal with crazy people, to each his own. But as I said sometimes SW fares are so awesome you just cant pass it up- like my brother's $30 return fare from San Diego to Phoenix after the cruise.

How nice you are. I thought the Rangers really conducted themselves with style and played a good game too. It was getting tense at the end.
I think it is a shame when people act like such bores about a game. It is sure nice to win but at what cost? Everyone should be able to walk away feeling good about a great time - some just feel a little better. I never understood how you can "hate" somone or thing you never met???what a waste of energy.

Thanks! The Rangers really are a great group of guys. It's truly a team for them. I'm not saying the Giants aren't, to be honest, I don't know too much about any of the players. I just know that there are teams out there (in all sports) full of big ego, it's all me me me type of guys and the Rangers just aren't like that. For example, Josh Hamilton is a recovering alcoholic. The team has been celebrating with Ginger Ale so Josh can participate in the celebration! I think they have another with alcohol, but they don't want him to feel excluded.

I sent her a PM too a couple of days ago because I know she is flying SWA out of Houston and I wanted to notify her of the price decrease. I haven't heard back but when/if I do, I'll let her know that you are trying to contact her!

It was very easy. It is good to be home. As to the routes. My friend who is our Seattle Station Manager, told me that we are keeping all Air Tran cities. As for routes, no clue yet.

@HappyGoofy Ironically enough, Jeff and I wrote that book (the questions). I didn't realize they were writing another one. We had such a great time writing the questions for the first one.

I am off to Disney AKL for a couple of days then a 4 day Halloween cruise on the Wonder. I am really looking forward to the vacation, but I know that there will be a million posts to get caught up as I do not plan of checking anything while I am away.

Enjoy the next week, getting cold here, around 40, and they got at least 5 inches of the white stuff out west in Sask.

Also realised that I've booked Palo for the same night as Pirate night !!! I guess we can take the kids to early dining, then meander up for our 9pm ressie at Palo.

Ack ! I just realised this morning that I haven't finished doing my tax, and it's due the 31st.

Did I mention that I can't wait for the end of school this term ? Only 5 weeks to go - I'm hoping I can hang on to every commitment we have between now and then.

A big ol' hello to everyone else. I hope to post some more tonight / over the weekend.

Only 8 weeks until our holiday / vacation starts !

Good morning everyone. We are headed to Ohio to see DH's mom and my folks tomorrow for the weekend. I hope to squeeze in one more trip before we leave for Florida in December but we shall see how that pans out.

Sunny, bright and breezy here today. Sure was windy yesterday though - the high wind warning is in effect through this evening so I guess it isn't over yet. It was dark when I left this morning but I did see one branch down and saw a few more on my trip in - as best as one can see in the dark anyway.

Where in Ohio are you going? I am right across the river from Steubenville, Ohio. Have a safe & happy trip. We lucked out with the high wind warning as it passed us by this time.

Sally, I can't remember...is this your first Disney cruise??
If not, this will be redundant and useless information, so please forgive me if it is. Although the servers are dressed up at dinner, the actual "Pirate Night" happens after dinner upstairs on Deck 9. There is a big deck party with dancing and then the characters come out and pretend to do battle with the pirates who are trying to take over the ship. The show culminates with Mickey flying through the air to save the day. After the little show, there is a fireworks display and then it transitions into the "midnight" buffet. I tell you all of this because you may want to try and change your reservation so that you can participate in it with your kids. Again, please forgive this message if you already know this, but I didn't want you to be bummed if you found out AFTER it was too late to change your ressie.

I'm ready to hunker down in comfy clothes and watch the game. And, while I will happily shout GO GIANTS for the world to hear, I agree with you all about supporting all teams. But, I do understand a persons dislike for the rival team...I have nothing against ANY sports team, but it's like I'm hardwired to dislike the Dodgers. The same is true in football. I grew up in the 80's, during the 49ers "Golden" years. During that time their biggest rivals were the Cowboys so I can't like them either. So strange these loyalties we have

sally, when we both are packed, we'll have to say what we are wearing - we have something line 9pm ressie at Palos the same night!!

i just got a tax bill for my dad for virginia. i thought all his taxes were paid up. Man, i had no idea how expensive it was for him to live!! otoh it was more for him to die, and the biggest expense is my broken heart! but i'll pay it for him. and notify them with a death cert so they stop charging. sigh. (it was property, paid at end of period...)

we are late dining so we wont see each other at normal dinners!!

can someone tell me how to quote more than one person at a time??


also did anyone know abut the air tran travel points once SW takes over totally??
