It so dark at night now, what time scale are we talking about going through the locks?
The last lock is around 3 or 4 if I remember right. But remember how far south Panama is. In Florida we don't get dark in January until around 6, it will be even later in Panama. (The trade off is in the summer we get dark around 7:30/8 instead of 10)

Thanks to those who let me know I had not posted the most current list of cabins offerred for the room tour. I will be collecting info on those willing to open their room for the tour but a final list won't be created until all GTY and upgrades are made by Disney. If you willing to have your room added, especially if you are now in one we don't have on the list, please PM me.

What does the 2010 designation mean? And sorry, i'm in 7128 not GTY. this looks like it'll be fun and informative. on our last cruise the travel agent (disney specialists they say) said they like the nav veranda best so we're trying that this time. anyone have any comments on it??

sherri

I agree with the others who've replied so far in support of choice B for the certificates, in favor of leaving it blank because we'd rather have the correct name on them and not chance it.

Regarding the FE, I was wondering what everyone thought about setting a cut off date. I've never been on a cruise that didn't have a cut off date to sign up, because people need to know how much stuff to get. I know some people have suggested getting 10% more, but even that might not be enough if people keep signing up later and later. I guess for me I'll print the list out now and only deliver to those people on it because i don't want to have to 'cut back' on what i'm giving to those who've been signed up for months just because more stragglers keep signing on. I know people join the cruise late but i'm just saying in my past cruises we've always had advance deadlines, usually 2 months before the cruise, so we all knew what we were in for. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks for the info, have updated my table

2010 designation refers to the category name in 2010.
DCL has changed categories 1,2,&3 to R, S, & T.
They also expanded cateogies 4, 5, 10 and 11 from 4 categories to 12 categories, breaking each down by A,B, & C
and category 9 from 1 category to 4, A,B,C,&D.
Plus they've moved some cabins to new categories.
For example, on deck 6, all the verandah cabins were category 6 or 7 and two prices.
Now they are 4 categories, 5B, 5C, 6A and 7A with 4 different prices.
So cabin 6606, the one we were in on the 2010 TA cruise, use to be the same price as the cabin right next door to it. But now 6606 is a 5C and 6604 a 5B and the price difference is $402.50.

We have had a Navigator Verandah once and did like it. It is a solid metal wall, so you can't see the sea sitting down, but it is very cosy as it is enclosed apart from a open 'window'. The best thing is that on the Wonder it is a larger oval shape but on the Magic it is a smaller circle, so you have the best one! I seem to remember there being a built in bench on one side, but can't remember if the other side was a bench or if there was a chair there instead.

Thanks, very much Jen

on the last room tour we seen one, they are cozy, I cant describe it, I liked it but not sure I would choose one myslef as I like the sun, they are a bit more enclosed, its amost like a secret place if you know what I mean(but you probably dont)

Nicole, hear hear!!! I keep putting off buying because i am concerned too. And with 80 already, that's quite a money commitment. But the page does mention cutting off in October, will that really happen? That's 2 months ahead ...

Can make some guesses as to what you mean!!

Just wondering if it will be nice on cool nights to be out there or mornings when we just like to stand at the side and watch the water go by or if it rains?
neither of the other verandahs we've had were good for sitting. and not even great for sun. so, that' s ok. we'll see on the room tours what each looks like!!

Sherri - we've got 2 Navigator Verandah cabins, and I'm thoroughly excited with what I hope they'll offer. On our last cruise with P&O, DH and I both were dismayed at what we felt was a lack of private outdoor space (we only had a porthole cabin). With the NV, I reckon we'll have the best of both worlds - a cosy private "extra room" with the bonus of being outside. Given how many sea days we have, I envisage many hours spent relaxing on that verandah, with many calls to room service. Bliss to a busy mum of 4 :)

Nicole - I agree - the logistics for those of us travelling from afar and so many FEs is already concerning me.

Little sleep for the weary here.

Cheers,
Sally :)

I think you will love it, it is like an enchanted verandah.

I would like feedback from peeps on the Panama Canal Certificates.

We can put the name of the ship's captain on the certificates that we get.

I have not been able to get confirmation from DCL as to who the captain is on the crossing, despite a few attempts. Several people have reported that Captain Henry will be our captain. So I am in a quandary.

I can either put on the certificates that Captain Henry is the Captain on our voyage. This might be correct, or it might not be (or could change closer to the date) in which case all the certificates will be wrong. Or I can leave the Captain's name off the certificate and people can write that in themselves when on board and/or get the captain to sign it.

What do you think?

a) Put down Captain Henry as the Captain and keep fingers crossed that it is correct and nothing changes.

or

b) Not put the name of the captain on the certificate so that we can all write it on our own certificates onboard.

Please let me know what you think. I am inclined to go with b, but wanted to see what everyone else thought.

--Kay

p.s. Final reminder to our long time PC cruisers and a quick note to those that are new. I will be closing off the order for the PC certificates at the end of October. If you are interested in ordering, details are on page 1 including links to see what you would be getting and the link to where to place the order.

Once I have closed off the order and passed it onto the supplier, I will have an accurate cost back from them and will then request payment when the final number is known.
B please!

PC Certificates: I think that if we do not know for certain who the Captain is we should leave it blank.

FE: I agree with Nicole and others. There should be a cutoff soon. With the holidays approaching, I would like to get it taken care of soon because there will be a lot of other shopping on my mind. I don't want to have to be worrying about finishing FE shopping in Dec.

I have it as the "ring" for when I have a text message...my ringtone is the music for Fantasmic =0)

I currently have Fantasmic too and before that POC.

Is there any way to tell how many cabins are left on this cruise? I am considering this cruise and have been lurking for months. But I can not make a commitment until December 14. Any insight would be helpful.

I use Travelocity's website as it's easy to jump between categories to see what's still available.

Ok, last night I was very frustrated with DCL's site, although I was able to get the Palo dinner time I wanted. However, today I am a very happy cruiser:banana::banana::banana::banana:. The shirts I ordered from Vistaprints came today. I used Brooklyn's design since there was such a problem with Zazzle. They are perfect!!! Great price even with download fees and great quality. Now I am going to spruce it up a bit with some bling!

Can you walk me through how to post a photo? I used to use Photobucket, but everytime I try to log on it tells me the website isnt available. Is there another site I can upload them and transfer them here?

I have to say I was worried when at the end of the ordering process it said, grapics may not be best quality, well you could fool me. I just took pics of them I just need to know what to do now. Thanks
