Can you use the gift cards to pay your charges made on the ship or are they only good at the Disney Stores?:confused3
We have talked about getting them for the Alaska cruise with the family, but didn't know if the kids & grandestkids could use them to pay their charges.
Thanks, Joyce

Yes, you just take the cards to guest services and they apply the amount to your account.

Hey fellow cruisers! What do you ladies do to make your nails look pretty for vacation? I am experiementing with the press on ones but not sure about them. What are some good products others have used or tips? I would like to maybe try gel nails but never have had them so not sure how they stand up either especially for the price. Thanks for any advice!
I scheduled a mani/pedi for the ship. :cloud9:

I have naturally long nails so it'll be great to have a good "polish" that won't start chipping in a few days. But I do get the occasional break or split so I guess this would prevent that???
I tend to have a partial break or split in my thumb nails..about halfway down. Right now it feels like it is starting, but the Gel Color is holding it together so good that I'm not sure. I was also breaking them often, so 2 or 3 (or more) were much shorter than the others...not now! I usually start chipping after 2 or 3 days, so I am loving this new product...definitely worth the money!

Just a quick hello:goodvibes

One of these days I sure hope I get some time to spend some time on here:sad2:

Everything you buy on the ship gets charged to your onboard account. You can put the gift cards onto your onboard account to cover payment of anything you charge on the ship.

Hope that helps

-Kay

Thank you Kay. I will have to go to Sam's and buy some soon.:santa:

Afternoon all :) A big welcome to Stephanie (that's my eldest's name, too :woohoo: )

I've got an unexpected 1.5 hours free this afternoon - 5th class art has been cancelled today due to an excursion (just a pity no-one happened to mention it to me..... grrrrr), so I thought I'd get started on my "home stretch" things to do. Only a handful left now, thankfully !

Anyway, I know I've asked a gajillion times already, and you've all been so good - but would you LA locals be able to help me once more ?

Looking at a map of LA, it looks like we dock way down south - correct ? LAX looks like it's about mid-way up the coast - but reasonably close to Venice Beach and the like ? Melissa - you mentioned the Grove - what suburb is that in again ? I think I"m liking more and more the idea of booking a room at one of the LAX hotels for the day, and hiring a car, with the hotel as a base until our very late flight, then doing a little bit of sightseeing / shopping. Does that sound doable ?

I really appreciate all the help and suggestions :)

Oh, TENYA - yes, I got your email - a reply shall be forthcoming, and yes, I'm more than happy to pop you on the same dining rotation.

Actually, a timely reminder...... for MAIN DINERS Anyone wanting to hop on the same dining rotation - please send me a PM - details can be found on page one of the thread :)

Off to enjoy some "quiet time" :)

Cheers,
Sally :)

Hi Sally,
I think I'm a bit confused so keep that in mind as I try to answer your questions...
I was under the impression you were coming to California BEFORE the cruise and would therefore be around LAX then...
The port is about 20 miles south of LAX and the Grove is another 10 miles North of LAX. It is near Beverly Hills.
Pretty much anything you do is nearby, the only problem you will run into is traffic...LOTS and LOTS of TRAFFIC...especially on a Friday. If you are going to be hanging out in the LA area before you fly home from the cruise, you will want to do something that is close by so that you don't have to use the freeway. The Grove is good for that since you can take side streets. I don't know if you will want to get a hotel AND rent a car for the day, as it takes so long to get from place to place, you may not end up at the hotel at all, but that is up to you. There is a theater in the Grove so you could just kick it in a movie for a few hours popcorn:: and not worry about the hotel.

Hope that helps!
Melissa

I can't wait to hear about your kids' reactions to going on the cruise...TAKE NOTES!!!

DH (Tony) had a good time at the NorCal Dis meet yesterday at Cuesta Park. (Good job ChipperMerlin/Shirley). Sorry I couldn't be there to meet everyone; I was at my future daughter-in-law's bridal shower; wedding next month.:love:

I do, however, have my countdown calendar above my desk (thanks Brooklyn/Stephanie) which keeps me motivated and energized on those seemingly long days.

Happy Monday

I have naturally long nails so it'll be great to have a good "polish" that won't start chipping in a few days. But I do get the occasional break or split so I guess this would prevent that???

it most certainly prevents mine from doing that. My ring finger has (or should I say had) a perpetual split but no more. No peeling, no splitting, no chipping. Althugh I will say, I have cracked a nail with this on but only once, way low on the car door handle. But, my nail tech just patched it and all was well.

I had one mani and one pedi on the ship a long time ago and I will stick to my own tech.

326 people in 125 staterooms, traveling as 101 parties.
This is 13.58% of the normal guest capacity(2400) of the Wonder.
This is 12.07% of the maximum guest capacity (2700) of the Wonder.
This is 14.25% of the available staterooms(877).

I've just added some more pictures and 1 more person. If you *ARE NOT* on the list now, or something is not right, it's because I don't have it, or I lost it, or I forgot and it's so buried that you need to send it again.

So really, if you want to get on the list, please do so now. I anticipate that updates with GTY to actual assignments are going to start around Thanksgiving in force so I'll be busy then.

Also, I'm driving trains at 5am this Saturday if anyone cares to stop by (I do work till 11 :P )

For you that live close to LA, how much time do you think we would need to allow in order to get to the airport in time for a 10:50am flight at LAX?

I am just thinking of Friday morning traffic!

I am here! Though I have nothing to report.:rotfl:

Still no stateroom assignment - going to call DCL to get my issue with one way airplane flights and online check-in fixed and fill out the rest of the paperwork.

Need to get postcards for the exchange. We are finalizing our housebuilding project so we will be wrapped up with that for the next 2 weeks - running around picking out furniture and a fridge. and mattresses and garage door openers and :rotfl:other stuff we forgot.

My Dad is coming for Thanksgiving and will be here on Friday. Thanksgiving weekend we will be marking and branding calves. Holiday tradition. So I will most likely be lurking drive-by style.

This thread is eerily quiet today!

It didn't take me too long to get caught up today - or yesterday either I don't think.

But, I have nothing new to report. I do have a cruise task (or a Florida task anyway) that needs to be completed soon. I have not booked an offsite park and fly yet and I need to do that. Added to list.

Also - I think I told you that youngest DS got officially engaged earlier this fall. And if not - he did! We are meeting her folks and brother (one I already know as they are all students at Alma College) in Frankenmuth this weekend. That should be fun - ant that is not sarcastic. I am looking forward to meeting them. We will all be together for the first time.

I'm here too! Still in a lifeboat but checking often. I know that one of these days when I hit the refresh button a room will pop up.

Need to get the rest of my stuff ordered to finish up the adult FE gift. Then I just need to get everything together. Also need to do some shopping for clothing. DD needs new dress shoes. She's not a girly girl and hates wearing dress shoes but I need to get her a brown pair and black pair. She's in adult sizing and we are having a hard time finding some that she likes. DS needs a new suit so I need to get that soon too. Also need to get the postcards and do all the shopping for one of our Secret Mickeys. One was real easy, but the other one has me stumped!!!

Well, I don't think we are going to have any visitors for Thanksgiving but I will still cook a big dinner. DH has to work the night before Thanksgiving and into the morning so we really can't go out of town. Our families in Dallas always stays in Dallas since everyone else is there. Looks like we are going to have a bunch of leftovers!!!

tinkryansmom, good luck getting everything done for your new house. Sounds very exciting!!! And glindamood, congrats to your son!

Hope everyone is has a great Monday!!!!

Still in a lifeboat too! I hope each day as I click on my ressie that a cabin will show up! :rotfl2: Then I hope it's a cabin I actually want :lmao:

Spent yesterday trying to clean out my DD closet! Did find a tiare but I thought she had a boa...but she didn't...

Off to finish up in her room ... we are trying to clean out everything she doesn't need or use anymore...but everytime I find something, she says.. but I LOVE it!

Have a great day!

Lots of errands & chores here...I made DD's orthodonist appointment for week leading into Christmas (it was calendared for January and the poor young receptionist couldn't understand why we didn't have any January availability on OUR schedule b/c she had plenty on hers:lmao: -- smile & wave, boys:lmao:smile & wave:lmao:), making grocery list for Turkey Day -- just the 3 of us but we could feed 12 -- and I want to beat the store rush! It's cool & overcast, so big pot of Chili is simmering for this evening. Lots of 'housechores' and finally, I need to make kennel arrangements for our pups while sail.

Wishing everyone a WONDERful Monday:wizard:

Tahara
