Love this idea but I strongly suggest that we not link our reservations until everyone has booked their excursions. Way slows down the process

Agreed, I was just throwing the suggestion out there. Just another thing to think about! LOL

Word of advice to lurkers or casual readers of the thread. I would read more often. As we get closer and closer this thread will explode with posts!

Compared to some threads, this one is already exploding. But yes, watch out - this is the calm before the storm!

Yes, for CC Silver, Oct 8 at 12:00:01 is when you can start booking shore excursions, Palo, and the spa!

This will be when I'm booking, too. I have it on my calendar!

But, I have a question... I think I read on this board somewhere that they go by Eastern Standard Time, so does that mean that here on the West Coast, we can start booking at 9:00:01 PM on October 7 (which is 12:00:01 AM Oct 8 on the East Coast)???

Or does it not work that way, and the people on the East Coast get to book 3 hours before I do and I have to wait until 12:00:01 AM Oct 8 PST?

My understanding is that the booking opens at 12:00:01 AM Oct 8 EST which means for us West Coasters its open at 9.00:01 pm on the Oct 7th (PST).

At least this time the time difference works in my favor - which was not the case when I have had to be up ready to book at 4am local time because booking opened at 7am EST. Not fun.

And just a throw in on the lanyards. It was nice to have customized lanyard on previous cruises. The ones we had were Dis green (of course) and the string was thinner and softer than the DCL ones. The drawback I can see to those types of lanyards was that they were not suitable for holding pins if you were a pin trader. Oooh, now there is a thought. Might see if I can get the kiddos some cheap pins for Christmas that they can trade on the cruise.

Last cruise I bought a lot of about 30 pins from Ebay for fairly cheap and brought them with me. Every night when we came back to our stateroom after dinner the kids each found a new pin on their pillow. They sort of thought the maybe SR host put them there, but they were sort of suspicious (they were teenagers, after all!). Of course we acted quite surprised every night! They figured they MUST be from us, but they didn't quite know how they got there. Funny that they never put 2 and 2 together that either dh or I had to visit the restroom EVERY night during dinner!

Thanks for the info. This is great! I was thinking it was midnight no matter where you lived, and after reading these boards, I was starting to think living on the east coast would be a pretty good thing on October 8 for us CC Silvers!

That is funny, too, because I've never known that it opens up at midnight EST, so in past cruises, I've always booked at midnight PST on the day my booking day opens... and all this time I could have been booking 3 hours earlier! Well, luckily, in previous cruises, I've always gotten everything we wanted, so I'm hoping the same goes for this PC cruise!

Oh, can't wait!!! We already have our shore excursions picked out... just can't wait to book them!!

I do believe Glinda is right about this. Example: If there are 4 reservations linked together, only one reservation holder can be logged in making plans at a time. I seem to remember also being able to see what others have booked. I'm not real sure about this info, but it could slow everyone down when booking excursions.

Yes, don't link dining till after booking days. On our 2008 PC we all crashed the computers and it took me 5 and half hours to get 2 reservations. Some folk in the US gave up very annoyed. Once they had all gone to bed, and the site much quieter, we Brits could get everything we wanted!!! However I do think that everyone got their Palo reservations at some point, even when wait listed from embarkation day. They were all fit in through the cruise.

I come back from ta on the 4th or something, I can do a list of late sitters and ask to be seatd togather or near or whatever, I could do early as well, but probably better if someone else does that, much less confusing, anyway pm if you want to do the list, cause I miss some posts when I am at work and skimming..

Katherine, so sorry you need to cancel. If I may offer my opinion, if you want to go through the PC then do not wait for DCL. It does not look like they will be doing another one for some time. You should look at other cruise lines.

I've been reading guidebooks and seen quite a few fishing excursions. Isn't one of the DCL excursions a boat rental for 6 - 8 people? Couldn't that be fishing?

Thanks for the link, but unfortunately it won't work for us. DH has cerebral palsy and uses canes to walk, and will be using a wheelchair while on the cruise. So unfortunately, most DCL excursions are either not compatible or too expensive for us. I appreciate the information, though.

I feel for you. I had to let go of a Baltic cruise this summer. It's always a sad day.

I had sent an email to Disney about the tuxedos for the Wonder and they responded as follows:

"Yes, our recommended rental shop will be servicing the Disney Wonder with tuxedos. Their website and order form will be updated in the near future and will list the Disney Wonder.

If you would like to contact them prior to the website being updated, please call them at Cruiseline Formalwear 800 551-5091, 8-5pm. "

My DH is still trying to decide if he wants to rent one or bring one with him. We like the convenience of NOT having to pack it.

For Shushh - You're going to be in NYC before sailing - why not call Baldwin (212) 245-8190 or one of the other rental places and see if they sell their rentals for cheap at the end of the season. After New Years, you might be able to pick up something reasonable.

Wow, we've never had a problem booking with linked reservations. Thankfully for us, only us and one other linked stateroom are gold. Everyone else is silver or a newbie.

I remember reading somewhere 4 reservations is the magic number but I'm not sure for what! I think it could be that you could link up to 4 reservations together and still have multiple people view it? I could be wrong.

Jen, are you able to book excursions for both reservations at once in the past or do them 1 at a time?

Oh no! I'm very sorry to hear this. I do hope you will be able to cruise through the Panama Canal at some point whether it's with Disney or another cruise line. Take care and sorry again.

I got the same response from DCL. I asked them if they knew when we would be able to call Cruiseline to book when they "update their inventory" for 2011, and they told me that they expect it to be within the next few weeks. I already looked at the prices and they seem reasonable enough to me, the convenience of not having to pack it for such a long and varied (FL, cruise, CA, then home) trip is worth the extra money of renting onboard vs. at home.

That was a great idea. I have just bought some pins from ebay. There is enough to give the kids some at Xmas to trade and still have plenty to give out every night of the cruise.

On the bright side, and there is always a bright side, my dh (unbeknownst to me) was furiously saving money for this cruise and had saved the full amount before he was laid off. So we have that as an extra cushion that we wouldn’t have had absent this dream vacation.

He had a very positive interview at his old job, and it would restore his sonority and pay, but until the ink is on the dotted line, we must be cautious.

I expect to enjoy this trip vicariously through your trip reports!

Enjoy yourselves and I will peak in at times.

Yes this is the one time the time difference works for us West Coasters!

I had 7 cabins linked on our cruise last Nov and it was a pain to make excursion bookings. I've learned the hard way.
