That's funny because I was just wondering if I took a whale watching tour, would I still have time to check out Cabo Wabo. I would take the kids with me on the tour but probably not a good idea to take them to the Wabo.

All I have heard from DH is finding CaboWabo

For this cruise, especially if you are doing FL before and CA after, the best advice is to bring a well-rounded wardrobe so you are covered for anything.
:lmao:

Literally! Especially if you come from the frozen north like I do, and plan to go back home eventually!

In 2006 we went the week after Labor day for the first Disneyland half marathon. I ended up having to buy a fleece jacket. It was FREEZING after dark.

poohs4me, Class I-II rapids arent really that engaging. I just did that class last week on the Colorado River in Utah, and I've never been rafting before so i had a blast, but if i were to do it again i'd want bigger rapids. The fact that you have to drive 2 hours away for that, I dont think I'm going to do it. If I had never been rafting, sure, but since I have now, I think for a 4-hour round trip drive, I want more challenge.

That is what I thought, which is a little disappointing. I understand DCL's desire for safety though. I contacted a private company for a raft tour, but they said the trip is 9 hours round trip, which might be cutting it a little short and they did not tell me the class level of the rapids we would be rafting to.

We're going to do the whale watching in Cabo...
When we were at Cabo Wabo, there were plenty of kids in the main restaurant. For that reason the adult DISboarders stayed on the patio. It was good for all :)

For anyone who might be renting any kind of vehicle at any of the ports.....takes pictures.....just read this and thought it was worth sharing, better safe than sorry, could affect drink of the day funds...:drinking1

That happened to us in Ensenada about 20 yrs ago. Everyone told us whatever you do, DO NOT RENT MOPEDS. The boys went off by themselves and guess what? They rented the mopeds. We were back at the ship and we kept waiting and waiting so DH finally took a cab back to town to find them. Sure enough the operator was arguing saying he caused $100 worth of damage. Got them down to $50 but they almost missed the ship! I agree, always take pics!!!

WOW how sad to be taken advantage of. Not only did he have to come out of pocket for a repair that he was not responsible for he should probably canx that credit card he let them hold. Valid Credit Card #'s sell for cash in Mexico........ONLY USE CASH!

I would like to do whale watching, but am a little worried about the size of boat and rough seas!! I know I can be sea sick on small craft!!

I thought you should be worried about the size of the whales rather than the seas, lol.

We are planning on doing the whale watch. We are also looking at the cruise thru the mangroves in Costa Rica and the City tour in Manzanillo.

IS there any possible way to get my DD12 admitted to the Gym on board? She is missing 3 weeks of training for the cruise and she will be a bit snarly if she gets out of shape. Doctors note? Coaches note? Both? Will they let her in if I buy her sessions with a personal trainer? She is a serious athlete and will not be goofing off in there...of course it will be an entirely different matter out of the gym!

I'm obviously not a high school athlete (a bit too old for that!), but I am an athlete. I am always training for something (well, I've been injured this year, so haven't been training a lot this year)... but on previous cruises, even though I do have access to the fitness center, I just find I like being outdoors more rather than cooped up in the fitness center on the ship. For me, I do all of my running on deck 4, I also do strength training on deck 4, and I bring all my own stuff (I bring resistance bands, stretch cords, etc... stuff that is small, compact, very easy to pack). I find it pretty easy to maintain my physical fitness and strength outside of the fitness center on the ship... coming from Washington State where it's cloudy and rainy a lot, any opportunity I can have to workout outdoors, especially with the warm breeze, I take!

That said, I cannot comment on someone under the age of 18 (or whatever the age limit is for the fitness center), but I just wanted to let you know from my experience, I've been able to maintain my fitness level very well on all the cruises I've done on deck 4 (and also never using the elevator and always using the stairs works the quads and hamstrings well!! Especially if you start on deck 3 and go up to deck 10 and back down again several times in a row for part of a workout).

I'm sure she has very specific things she needs to do being a gymnist, but I just wonder if she talks to her coach if there are things he/she could recommend she can do outdoors with resistance bands, etc. And, I have no idea, but I even wonder if you could go and talk with the person in charge of the fitness center on the ship and see if you can borrow a stability ball and a couple medicine balls for the week (seems like they'd have extras in a storage room somewhere??) and keep them in your room and she can use those, too, in your room?? I have no idea... but could be worth asking!!

Good luck! I totally understand about wanting to keep up your physical fitness routine on vacation. I hope she can figure out something!!

Ahhhh....I can't keep up!!!
Hi everyone, hope all is going well for you!
I am going to attempt to read some of these pages of posts. I'll bet there are a lot of discussions about the excursions that were posted last week!
Who is going with me on the "Outdoor Adventure" (I think that's what it is called) in PV? 4X4, zip-line and a repel down a waterfall--OH YEAH!!! So excited!
I will post again if ever I can catch up as I think I'm still somewhere on pg 43!!

Thanks Kathy! She is actually not a gymnast. Her sport is Judo and she will be in the middle of competition season which was not that big a deal when we booked but she is now in a position to qualify for some interesting stuff and will be missing some key events. She'll find a way to keep it up!

I am a runner also. There seems to be a few around here! She can run with me for starters. She like the old fashioned things like push up and chin ups...she'll find somewhere to knock some off!

Oh, I don't know why I thought she was a gymnast. Maybe I read about another person who talked about their daughter being a gymnast. Hopefully she can figure out how to maintain her fitness on the ship!

Yes, I "hope" to run a lot on our trip, but I'm recovering from a pretty severe ankle injury, and have had a lot of complications, so I'm hoping by January, I'll be good to run, but not sure yet. But, even if I can't, I'll be doing some sort of fitness and workouts on the ship. ;) I hope I can do the Castaway 5K! If I get approval from my physical therapist by the time we leave for our trip, then I'll for sure be doing that. Hopefully you and your daughter can do it, too.

I think the only excursion I have narrowed down is in Cabo....hoping to get an early whale watching (have to wait till gold bookings) and then a walk to CaboWabo. Anyone else planning to do whale watching?

We don't have any totally narrowed down yet, but I would like to do one of the whale watching tours somewhere. I'm glad we have quite some time to decide as we're only Silver CC members.

That would be my worry!

Just celebrating a birthday. Updated my signature. Now the proud parent of an almost teenager (that's close enough for me)

Also, who is planning the zip line in PV. Kids definitely want in on this one, so I don't want to miss out. Thx

Throwing this out to the group... in '05 Seaulater was on our boat and she was a megaplanner/ organizer. She did so much. One of the coolest things she did was host a welcome party for the DISboards. She contacted DCL prior to us getting on board and reserved Diversions for us for a few hours. Everyone brought a bottle of wine, etc from their local area (or a bottle they really liked). We had staff to help us open them and DCL provided food. I'd be willing to set this up if y'all are interested. We could do it the first sea day. (Actually I won't be setting up, Jeff and I are bound to use conceirge as much as humanly possible this cruise for what we're paying for the suite).
Let me or Jeff know what you think. School starts tomorrow so my stress level until the end of December is astronomical as I start my "scholarly paper" i.e. mini thesis and practicum. I'm going to need every tasting, buffet and massage on board after this semester!

I'm in for this - did it on our first cruise - Oh my, was that the same cruise.
If we can bring our 2 friends too, on the cruise with us, that would be great. My girlfriend does not do computers nor does my husband. I try to keep up with all of you.:banana:
On, another subject. Can we go to Zazzle let to order the shirts & what number/name do we use.
Thanks you for everything you both do for this cruise. :worship::worship:

Well it's 1:34 on the east coast and 10:34 on the west. I've been absolutely astonished by how much discussion has been going on, it really is hard to keep up. And then when you go to answer a question, someone else has already jumped to it! I was wondering if by chance any of the other divers out there had tried looking into dive shops at the two ports that don't have DCL dives. I'm a slightly leary just because of timing (as has been discussed multiple times) But I need to also check my DAN coverage and check Hypo chambers in the area. I'm guessing that may be part of why there aren't any DCL dives in Manzanillo but i could easily be wrong.

I do have a question though for those of you who have paid to go to these all inclusive resorts for shore excursions, and I don't mean to sound critical at all. But is it worth it? My family's been thinking we might do one of these, but given i'm the drinker of the group i'm having a bit of difficulty as I figure at nearly two drinks an hour I'd break even and there's unlimited food on the ship (that I enjoy no less).

BONUS THOUGHT: How freakin' awesome would it be to have a submarine show up at the Canal again!?

Extra Bonus Thought: If we're taking up all of deck 8...I claim room 8030...enough said ::ROFLMAO::

I am with you here. I have paid for food on the ship, I don't need to pay for it again. I never eat off the ship, unless it is a small snack. I guess a sub might be cool again but I really would like ity to be a battleship ship or other typr of naval boat.

BONUS THOUGHT: How freakin' awesome would it be to have a submarine show up at the Canal again!?

I would LOVE to see a submarine show up at the Canal.

My parents own a boat, and we were cruising up from Washington into Canada going through the shipping lanes, and out of no where a large naval submarine just surfaces near our boat! It was amazing! But, what was even crazier is the Navy has rules of how far a civilian vessel can be from a Submarine in the water. Well, they surfaced very close to our boat, and we just happened to be inside their zone where we weren't supposed to be according to their rules. We went to move away, but the sub kept moving our same direction, so we had a hard time getting out of the "no civiliian zone", and then a small boat was launched off of the sub and came directly over to our boat, and the Naval officers on board that boat told us we HAD to get out of the area we were at because we were civilians.

Crazy... my dad tried to explain we were trying to, but the sub kept following us, and the sub wasn't going slower...

Anyway, it was just a warning, and my dad ended up just going totally off course to get completely away from the sub, and everything was fine.

But, it was an amazing experience!! :) :)

Hope we see on in the Panama Canal!!
