From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 3

I'm curious to find out about that, too!

I'm also wondering what entertainment we'll have on the ship. I would expect at least a couple of "headliners" in the Walt Disney Theater, but I'm also looking forward to seeing who gets booked for the Cabaret shows in Wavebands. Hey, wasn't someone in our group in contact with Christiaan, the cruise director? Could you please pass along a request to book Smooth-E? I've seen him on a couple of DCL cruises this year and I thought he was really funny and handled the transition between Family vs. Adult cabaret shows very well.

That would be 3CStuart and they are on the TA cruise right now. It would be really great if there were some good adult cabaret shows.

Forgot to add, I thought it might be nice to get a certificate to present to the Captain, so on the link for ordering there is a question about that.-Kay

What is the diference between the certificates that make one child friendly?

AHHH!! I am getting freaked out about the excursions selling out before I can even book on the 23rd!!!!

There always seems to be some spots for excursions available immediiately after boarding. We have only been on the Magic. Does anyone know where you go on the Wonder?

I agree with the above. I was thinking maybe Jeff could get a poll up on the website. For wording, I like January 6,2011. Moving day for the Wonder.

I like that Alan! If we post a poll here, it wouldn't be as large as the t-shirt one and so it probably wouldn't be so frustrating!

Secret Mickey participants - please hold off purchasing anything for your SM at this time, I have just recieved an email for someone who may have changed thier mind about participating. I also have a few participants who have not yet confirmed that they have recieved thier assigned Secret Mickey.

We do have some new sign-ups so everyone who wants a SM will have one.

I am sorry for the inconvenience and will hopefully have everything resolved in the next day or so. The Secret Mickey sign-up is now closed. Thank you to everyone participating.

Thank you!

Well the cruise is coming to gether nicely. I love the bracelt and certificate idea. We booked the horse back tour for PV. Still unsure about Manzanillo. Might just do a resort for the day. Would like to snorkel but I hear it is not that great and prefer CC and Aruba. We are going to bring wet suits for the cruise. Hope Tink find's her way home. Don't know about other Walgreens but in Florida both WG and Publix offer Disney gift cards. I buy one every week to pay for our dinning plan. Later Will buy them for OBC.

Jeff can put a poll up on the webpage. Whomever is organizing the poll, just email or PM him with the details.

I was reading over on cruise critic where some are saying their ship always stays with local time, other saying they don't. I remember changing our clocks a couple of times on the Magic but does Disney ALWAYS follow local times? I'm just trying to get some things booked on our own and I want to make sure we we are on time for them. We will set our watches with ship time to make sure we are back on the ship in time. I just want to make sure we're not late/early for our self-booked excursions.

Every time we've been onboard, they've honored local time. Our room attendant, always changed the clocks for us.

What is the diference between the certificates that make one child friendly?

The original one has very scantily clad mermaids on it which don't leave much if anything to the imagination. The menfolk would probably love it, but I don't think it is appropriate for kids (plus some adults may find it inappropriate). If you look at the link for the certificates, you can see both options.

We just returned from the MAW campout. It was great seeing so many people there to support the kids. Over the course of the year many campgrounds do fun raisers for MAW and local clubs, like the one I belong to, support the events and make a cash donation. This weekend a little over $20,000 was raised to make some children's wishes come true. The final total will come later as there are still some events that are not done yet. This was a tough year because the business that was the main sponsor for 12 years and did all the leg work to make the campout happen, was unable to continue to totally support it and for a while the campout was cancelled. One young lady- a teacher from the area- took it over at the last minute and did a wonderful job. The attendance was down some because some camping clubs made other committments when it was cancelled- but everyone pulled together and we had a wonderful weekend and hopefully two or three children will get their wish.

Jeff can put a poll up on the webpage. Whomever is organizing the poll, just email or PM him with the details.

I can PM Jeff with the details for the poll, should I tabulate the list of suggestions and then send the final batch to Jeff once we get a certain number, or should I send them as they are posted here? As of now, I have 4 suggestions (please let me know if I missed any, and if anyone has additional ideas, please post):

1. From WDW to DL with Love / January 2011
2. Disney Wonder / Panama Canal Cruise 2011
3. January 6, 2011 / Moving Day for the Wonder
4. The WONDERful Panama Canal 2011

The slashes represent the divide between the first part (front) and second part (back). I think the Mickey silhouette that the original designer suggested can be incorporated on any phrase.

I can send these to Jeff now to start getting the poll ready "behind the scenes" or wait until we get a certain number, & then we can open voting, whatever is easier for him.

Panama Canal Certificates
"The Order of the Ditch"

I am co-ordinating a group buy for the personalized PC Crossing Certificates.

You can see them here http://www.tiffanypublishing.com/certs/order_ditch.asp

It will be the revised version as some of us will be ordering them for our kids.

The cost depends on the number we as a group want. I ran some scenarios and, as a rough estimate, an order of 20 certificates would give an individual cost of a little over $8 each. If we order over 50 certificates, the cost drops under $7. This includes personalization (including the name of the captain if we can get it confirmed in time), postage, any minimum order charges (for 10-50 certificates) and to cover the paypal fees. (I figured the easiest way for people to pay was by paypal and we get charged on every incoming transaction).

Money is not needed yet. Once we have the order in, they will give an accurate cost and I can then work out the exact cost each for everyone and send you the details on how to pay.

We cannot get the captain's signature to print on the certificates, but DCL suggested that we could have them signed during the Captain's signing time which happens sometime during the voyage. Alternatively we could see if we could drop them off at guest services they could get them signed sometime during the voyage (kinda like we do with the pillowcases etc).

I plan to have them sent to me and then I would bring them to the ship to distribute.

If you want to order a certificate please fill enter your details here:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dDZZMU54S21mT1NQX3VNSUY5YmYyamc6MQ

Deadline: I don't know yet, I need to talk to the supplier and will confirm.

I think that is it. Any questions?

Can we get this info on the first post. Jeff do you want to include it on the website too?

Thanks so much for doing the legwork and for posting this! I just filled out my form. Great idea to get them signed by the captain in person.

Umm... I think the kid friendly one is the way to go. I know our son will have his hanging in his room and it is Disney after all :goodvibes

Thanks to all about the Cabo Whale Watch I feel much better now!!:lovestruc

:grouphug:

What a wonderful thing to do!! On other cruise lines I have seen buy a shirt for $$ and do a walk or a dance and the money goes to a charity. It has been a couple of years since my last DCL cruise so I was wondering if DCL does anything like that for MAW for example?

Nicole, How many characters (letters & numbers) will they allow on the band?

Good question! Tenya (Tinksmom) is the organizer of the bracelets, so this would be a question for her. Good suggestion to ask so that those who want to submit suggestions can stay within the character limit!

I agree, which is why I will be ordering the revised (i.e. covered up) version. My kids will have one each and I didn't want them having the other version. I could just imagine the 5th graders on the playground and the conversations they would be having. :rotfl:

Imagine you remembering that! Welcome back to the board :goodvibes I'll look forward to seeing you again.

Home again. Only found two shirts and nothing else at the outlets during tax free weekend. :(
