I will do the zip line in PV with you. I looked at both Costa Rica and PV but liked the PV one better. It has a bar where DH can hang out while I zip. I heard most people didnt like PV 'cuz of the big Walmart store looking at you while you disembark. But I love Walmart and plan to do a bit of shopping there too.

Me too, Wallmart means I am in USA:thumbsup2 and thats a good thing..or at least in this case on holiday!

Wow! You all have been busy!!

Sorry to hear of the layoff! Prayers sent for a quick and satisfactory resolution!

Eagerly awaiting the excursion info!!:yay:

Trying to talk DH into Disneyland after the cruise. But not really getting anywhere. Will continue working on him.

Taking DD to see Taylor Swift tonight with her BFF and BFFs Mom - should be fun. Hoping to come home feeling not too old and out of touch with the girls.:rotfl:

Everyone have a great weekend!!

I'm debating the zip line in PV or CR too. They both look pretty good, for me it is going to come down to what else there is to do in each port. Like if PV looks like a not so great port other than for excursions, then I'll probably be joining you and zipping there and hopefully doing a beach day if its nice in CR.

I actually despise Wal-Mart and refuse to set foot in one, and I think it will be rather disappointing to see a big one right when you come into port on your vacation, but I suppose I can ignore that if there are worthwhile excursions like the zip line that sound fun and exciting.

I love Walmart too! I wish we had some closer to us around here. Everytime we visit DD in the Phoenix area, we always have to make a Walmart stop, and Kohls too!

Sounds like fun to me!! I enjoy Taylor Swift music. My DD went to see her around Christmas time and she loved it!!

I can't stand the one we have in our town, it's really gross! :sad2:
Lucky for me in South Jersey, wherever there is a Wal-Mart, there is usually a Target, which is a much nicer shopping experience. I went in a Wal-Mart one time 5 years ago somewhere between DL and San Diego--I had been away in DL for the weekend and my awful college roommate decided to move out with no notice, leaving me scrambling to pick up a TV and mini fridge for my dorm room on the way back from DL. I was scared for my life at this Wal-Mart in broad daylight, and have never set foot in one since. Maybe they are nice in some areas, but that experience in So Cal coupled with the ones I know in South Jersey are sketchy enough to make me avoid them at all costs.

Can you tell me what about PV you didn't care for? I have never been but I was thinking the zip line excursion sounded great. Was it a dirty port, or just nothing really to do? Just curious about what its like.
When we were on the last PC cruise, DH and I waited until the kids were safely deposited in Flounders after dinner to get off the ship. We walked across the street to WalMart, mostly just to say we actually set foot in PV. But it was interesting to see the differences/similarities of WM in Mexico compared to the ones here at home. What I remember most is that stuff seemed to be more expensive there.

We were originally going to do some excursion through DCL but with 2 small kids we decided we'd rather stay close to - or rather on - the ship. Our table mates did go on an excursion and hated it, even complained like many others to guest services that it wasn't what was posted to be.

I'm thinking we may stay onboard again this time as we're not all that interested in this port.

If were talking shops, I have to say I LOVE Publix the best.
Boars head sandwiches :goodvibesmmmmmmmm
And the Key Lime Pie. OMG it is the yummiest thing ive EVER tasted.

We just got off the ship in PV just for a walk around. It wasn't scary like Acapulco though and we had no annoying vendors. I think you could have walked right round to the town itself, but we just stayed close by. Really we were trying to save some money by not doing many excursions, not because we didn't want to actually go on one.

John went across to Walmart - I think he had lost his little penknife and wanted a replacement. He said it was very different to the US ones, and he never did find a penknife.

We arrived just as the sun was rising above the hills, and it was quite beautiful and worth being up on deck for.

Can you tell me what about PV you didn't care for? I have never been but I was thinking the zip line excursion sounded great. Was it a dirty port, or just nothing really to do? Just curious about what its like. Personally I didn't care for St. Thomas on my last cruise- thought the whole taxi thing was maddening and disorganized, and the whole island was dirty and rundown- some people before us got dropped off at Coki Beach and it looked disgusting, trash strewn on the sand & in water, & VERY sketchy looking locals hanging out. We kept going on to Sapphire Beach which was nice for a couple hours in the morning, until it was over run with mass tourists by afternoon so we headed back. All in all, the experience sucked and if I ever do an Eastern again, I'm staying on board! I had been to St. John for a week on vacation before and LOVED it, so I had high expectations for St. T- I knew it wouldnt be as nice, but still I expected it to be nice, and IMO I thought it was dirty, sketchy and not at all worth returning to. But that is just my opinion, thats why I'm curious about your take on PV to see what it sounds like.

My DH and I did the zip line in PV and loved it. There were two things that people who have a mild fear of heights might want to be aware of. The platforms around the trees that you are on between lines have big holes in them and the only thing to hold onto are ropes around the tree. But, trust me, you are securely fastened. The other thing is that there is one spot where you have to cross a bridge between two trees. It is made of the holey platforms and the only thing to hang on to is a rope that is about knee high. I was almost on my knees on that one. But everybody made it fine and you are always safely secured. :thumbsup2 If anyone wants to see them, I can post a couple of pictures.

Well, we had plans to go camping tonight as we had a great forcast of mostly sunny with high in the highs 70's. Woke up this morning to thunderstorms! Anyway, hoping it will clear up and we can head out early this afternoon.

So that's where our old weatherman went!! ;)

I love PV, it is such a quaint Mexican town. The walk along the Malecon is nice and there are lots of outdoor tables and bars set up along the beach. The vendors on the beach are not aggressive and will take no for an answer without hounding you. This will sound odd but I had the best Italian food in one of the restaurants there, le Dolce de Vita. The water along the beach is not as clean as the gulf side and I prefer to not swim in it but there are lots of activites offered.

I will be getting off the ship and doing my own thing there, I have a time share on the beach that as a member I can go and spend the day there and use the pool and facilites.

These are some pictures I took last year while walking along the Malecon:

This is a typical sunset as seen from the beach in PV.

Now Publix is a nice store! I wish we had them up in NJ. My favorite supermarkets though are Safeway out in Phoenix and Ralphs in San Diego- both are such big stores for "one stop shopping", they have Starbucks, Jamba Juice, ice cream shops, cleaners, postal services, full liquor/beer/wine, and everything you can imagine. In south Jersey we just dont have those kinds of supermarkets with everything in one place, but I sure wish we did!
