My dh lost his job of 25+years, yesterday was his last day. They laid off the senior people, and kept the guys they hired six months ago.

We haven't canceled the cruise yet, as my dh has a lot of people pulling for him and we are ever hopeful something will turn up.

Scary times ahead, but we will get through it.

On the plus side, dc wanted bagels and since I spent the past year plus teaching myself the ins and outs of bread, I was able to make them myself with the ingredients from the pantry! :cool1::thumbsup2

If you are a prayerful type, please keep us in them, not for any material thing, just for the grace to get through undamaged and uplifted.

Katherine

Katherine,

I'll be praying for you and you husband. That's just not right! But, as you well know, when God closes a door he opens another one.

If it does happen that you have to cancel the cruise just remember that there will always be Disney cruises. Here's hoping we meet on board.

Oh no Katherine! I will be praying for you and your family!!
I hope everything works out for your husband.
Your possitive attitude is very inspiring!

Unless their has been a change in the itenerary, we are not going to Acapulco, so you really have nothing to worry about on that one.

Oops, I meant PV, both the same IMO. We went to both on the 2005 PC cruise. I grew up watching Love Boat and was looking forward to those ports, huge dissappointment.

So sorry to hear that Katherine. I will keep you in my prayers. It sounds like you are both very positive and that will get you through.

That's AWFUL! I'm so sorry, Katherine. Hopefully, it WILL turn out to be a good thing. My fingers will be crossed for you!

Katherine, so sorry to hear about hubby, that stinks. Usually they offer some sort of attrition pkg. My hubby was lucky to get one of those. I will definitely keep you in my prayers.

Katherine and family - you will be in our prayers. So sad... But, when the door closes, windows open so keep the faith.

Well, snow is gone and the sun is shining. Glad that didn't last very long. The closet is on my list for today - we shall see how that all works out.

Have a great day everyone.

Lots food, bands, tours of the train museum, rides on the mini train for the kids, arts and crafts, etc.

Steve is a locomotive engineer and has a highway-rail grade crossing safety booth set up.

I get to walk around and enjoy the day with the family because there are other people helping out with the booth.

So sorry! Growing up, I remember my dad having a couple of layoffs and then DH was laid off early in our relationship. It's no fun for sure! Best of luck that even something better is on the horizon!

Well, we had plans to go camping tonight as we had a great forcast of mostly sunny with high in the highs 70's. Woke up this morning to thunderstorms! Anyway, hoping it will clear up and we can head out early this afternoon.

Can you tell me what about PV you didn't care for? I have never been but I was thinking the zip line excursion sounded great. Was it a dirty port, or just nothing really to do? Just curious about what its like. Personally I didn't care for St. Thomas on my last cruise- thought the whole taxi thing was maddening and disorganized, and the whole island was dirty and rundown- some people before us got dropped off at Coki Beach and it looked disgusting, trash strewn on the sand & in water, & VERY sketchy looking locals hanging out. We kept going on to Sapphire Beach which was nice for a couple hours in the morning, until it was over run with mass tourists by afternoon so we headed back. All in all, the experience sucked and if I ever do an Eastern again, I'm staying on board! I had been to St. John for a week on vacation before and LOVED it, so I had high expectations for St. T- I knew it wouldnt be as nice, but still I expected it to be nice, and IMO I thought it was dirty, sketchy and not at all worth returning to. But that is just my opinion, thats why I'm curious about your take on PV to see what it sounds like.

My husband was with out a job for about 1/3 of last year. And his job is very slow in Nov-Feb so does not earn as much so it is hard but lukily as a nurse I can sometimes get extra shifts but hard working 15 days in a row. Now his car is broke and had to get a rental for the weekend and who knows what the cost will be on that. I can't stress about it as it will not change the facts.

On the last Canal cruise, we took the Sierra Madre off-road tour at PV. It was an adventure. The off-road vehicle was bouncy but fun. The hike interesting and about the right level of effort. The beach they brought us to was perfect, as was the outdoor BBQ. The tour guide was hysterical - his lifetime goal was to taste every brand of tequilla (a goal which he demonstrated and shared on the way back - making the tour even more interesting. Don't worry though, he wasn't driving). So I didn't actually see the city itself, but it's a great place to take an excursion into the countryside. :rolleyes1

Thats naff, hope it gets fixed soon!

I will do the zip line in PV with you. I looked at both Costa Rica and PV but liked the PV one better. It has a bar where DH can hang out while I zip. I heard most people didnt like PV 'cuz of the big Walmart store looking at you while you disembark. But I love Walmart and plan to do a bit of shopping there too.
