From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 2

Well, I did a Med cruise the first summer they were there, and they really did a fine job (well, it's DCL - they pretty much always do a fine job). So I'm sure they are going to be great cruises. If it were my first time going to Northern Europe, I think the peace of mind and variety would be worth it if I had the cash to spend.

But....

I've been to every country except Estonia and Russia. And Estonia doesn't interest me that much - so really what I'd be getting that's new would be St. Petersberg. At about $300/day not counting excursions and transportation.... well, it just doesn't make sense.

Now this cruise is an entirely different matter. First, we're looking about $175/night, which is very reasonable by any standard, and downright cheap for DCL. We're also talking travel expenses in the $200 range (thank you SouthWest). And excursions should be much less expensive than Europe.

Plus - there are two new ports, and the opportunity to visit Aruba again (which I fell in love with last time).

Plus - Harry Potter Land will be open at Universal - and this is the perfect excuse to get back to Orlando :-)

Dan

WE always have to add in at least a thousand bucks each for air fair and the pc is still cheaper for us.

whats so good about aruba Dan? I cant wait to go to Aruba. Aruba, jamacia come on pretty........

Good Morning, Everybody!

I'm with the folks who think the flights over the ocean were outrageous. We had the westbound TA for $1800. Not per person. But the flights were more than that! So, we bagged it, long ago, and here we have been since it opened. :)

Well for us it is basicly Uncle Sam that is killing it. What I mean by that is taxes. We owe way more than we thought (we did know we were going to owe just not the amount we do). It is really to bad because on DW birthday we are going to be in the Middle of the Atlantic. Well still, we have not pulled the plug yet, but I think it is on life support right now.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: I think I would sit on my hands!

When the prices came out for the baltic we were on the magic, I asked for a quote and nearly choked to death, I mean COME ON< we worked out we could fly to a week to every port for the same money!.
Glad you choose this one.

We were on the same cruise! I so wanted to do the Baltic but totally agree on the pricing - just too rich for my blood.

Good day everyone!

Wow, I go away for a few days and look at all the posts. I just wanted to say thanks for all the warm welcomes! It was so nice to see.

Oh and BTW, we've booked our flights already and it was so cheap! From Vancouver to MCO then LAX to Vancouver - $360/pp including taxes.

I guess I should get ready for work and it even looks like it is supposed to be a nice day weather wise... 16 Fahrenheit or -9 for us Celsius fans. :)

Have a great day!

Greetings fellow canuck! Who did you book your Air through? It's so impossible to get out of SK. We always get the milk run and we still get to pay $1000.00 per person. I am trying to find cheaper.

My DW will tell you, every major U.S. fast food place in eye sight.
LOL< you crack me up Alan, in a good way. Only thing we ever heard of Aruba over in uk was when the american girl went missing.

I will be so sorry if you guys do that, but at least its not long til this cruise.

Wow, you did great! Mine ended up being $377.20 /pp. Great airfares as I fully expected to pay around $1000 total. Mine goes from AEX (Alexandria, LA) to MCO then from SNA (John Wayne) to AEX.

Glad to see Disney offers Disneyland Express to SNA. $15 per person and I found a site with $5 pp off coupons. Hoping that by the time we get there, Disney will start a free magical express thing since the Wonder will be there permanently.

We wanted to do SNA. Price was almost same as LAX, but it was a 17 hour flight total and we would have had to go from SNA to Detroit, to JFK, to Atlanta and then home. From LAX to Atlanta and then home, only 5 hours. Can't believe the reasonable airfares out there, around $200 pp from MYR to MCO and LAX to MYR.

Hope everyone can find good airfares, means more money for cruise and maybe extra time at DL after.:cheer2:

I don't see us looking at airfare anytime soon. We know the flight we're taking, the red eye from LAX to Tampa. It allows us to spend as much time in Southern California with family that lives there.

We will wait on SW we are now changing and will arrive Monday Jan 3 instead of the 2. Too much to do Sun! We are hoping to stay at Wilderness Villas. Or Beach Club.

Well fancy that:confused3 Did you not come onto the cruise thread? it was an amazing cruise.

Yes, I was. I am thinking that maybe we were not on the same one. I couldn not have booked but it was the week they made the announcements and the pricing I think may have just been ranges. I went to the future reservations desk mulitple times to pick up the itinerary list and then a crew member would get it away from me. It was a Western I think...

I made our flight arrangements last week using points on United from Ft Wayne to MCO and SNA to FWA total was 75,000 points with first class tickets from SNA home (longish flight so I splurged on the first class-which isn't really a splurge as I don't think it cost any more points). The same flight from SNA to FWA was around $880 apiece if I rmemeber correctly.

One month from today crossing the Atlantic :cheer2:

Once we are back I can get a bit more active on this thread. So much of my time has been spent planning for this cruise. Never been to Europe so this is so thrilling for DH and I.

ChipperMerlin--Glad you are home and can't wait to see your pictures at Epcot.:yay:
