From Possums to Sea and a Rainy day parade! Sep/Oct 2014

Love the Sniffany & Co.!

That looks like a nice little diner. Some of them have the best food!

I hate "picking" which lobster is going to "snuff it". I would rather they were already pre chosen. I don't want to point my finger and say, "kill this one."

yes I would not warm to choosing a lobster either! Be like buying a live chicken!

Wednesday 24th September

Quick stop at Asia, a safari in Africa then packing for our cruise..

We were excited this morning. Well at WDW this is a common theme I know...this was the day before our 3 night cruise on The Dream. We had morning FP+ for AK EE and the Safari. Both favourite rides in this charming park.

Two breakfasts, showers and into the car. A quick ride to Asia sounds distant but really not far
Soon we would be inline for a yeti on the track
Who would have thought it, a ride to go back!

A very enjoyable ride as ever on Everest. Then we looked around the gift shop, around Asia and I quickly try and get past the monkeys as fast as a disabled person can! I don't like monkeys..

Next the safari...oh how we love this attraction. Different every time! We had ourselves a good show of animals and a wonderful driver.

We finished our wonderful safari and headed out the park. We lunched at The Earl. Yum. Then a strange thing happened...

The possum strikes again..

Whilst I was waiting for Jo to get our precious order in La Earl.. I heard a voice. 'Paula is that you?'. I looked around. Did not see anyone I recognised instantly. Then a lady tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I was Paula. She recognised me from the Facebook page for our upcoming cruise! I knew her then! A lovely couple from Wales in the UK. It was to be their first DCL cruise and they were super excited. Charlotte and Katie. We chatted and laughed and I said see you onboard. What a lovely surprise! I believe that happened to Alison also? I thought Jo would never believe me! But I told her over lunch. She was speechless.

After gorgeous sandwiches we went over to Once upon a toy. I like the excuse to go in this store. I enjoy building a light saber. It's fun. A double blade with rebel trimmings I think today... The excuse was to find a Captain Hook toy for our neighbours son. They were caring for Elsa, Anna and Snow whilst we were away. In case your wondering the princesses are our Goby fish...

Although there are 4 in the photo alas Ariel proved true to the story. She didn't take to life under the sea :-(

Whilst we were buying a charming Peter Pan toy set with the infamous Captain Hook ..Katie and Charlotte appeared again! Yes now I had evidence! Jo liked them also. We would see them many times on The Dream :-) every time a pleasure. Very funny ladies.

Then we went to the outlet mall to get me a winter jacket from North Face. I would need that in the UK. Autumn was coming followed by the English winter and they are brilliant down jackets and very expensive in the UK. We both got some bargains. But it rained like a monsoon. Poor Jo went to get the car and I have never seen anyone look so drenched. No point both of us getting wet she says. That's my Joanna :-) so kind. She is terrified I might slip and fall.

That afternoon I watched some TV whilst Jo packed for the cruise. I am not lazy in case you are wondering I have severe osteoporosis as well as everything else. It is so severe I cannot lift an item heavier than 0.5 pounds without risk of breaking a bone. Each time I fall I have to get an x ray. Most annoying! Jo is super protective. Won't let me near that baggage!

It started to clear up so I went along to see the feeding of the animals.

How I enjoy this resort :-)

I was feeling very tired and Jo did too. We decided on a take out from the Olive Garden. Jo phoned ahead then went to pick up our bounty and then she was done driving for the day. She cracked open a well deserved Budweiser. We said no way we would eat that mountain of food generous given by The Olive. Must have been the possum returning you know. Not a crumb was left :-)

Tomorrow.. All board the breath taking art deco Disney Dream!

Another great day :goodvibes

Especially looking forward to tomorrow when you board the dream ;)

Claire :)

The lion photos are gorgeous. Looks like you got a lot done. How nice that you got to meet some fellow cruisers. I love the Okapi photos.

I got very luck every feeding time. It was lucky it was the lure of the cruise. I was sad leaving AK!

All aboard The Dream!

Thursday 25th September

We woke early. How soon could we leave for the port? Jo asks right away. I laughed. We have no check in time. We can board as soon as The Dream is ready and well ship shaped...for this time we have gone conceirge!

We had to cancel a med cruise due to my health issues the year before. We had already paid for a weeks cruise so we transferred this for 3 nights conceirge on The Dream as our compensation. We were looking forward to our postponed prize!

Jo looked out the window and said oh my! It was raining quite handsomely. We showered, last few bits in the bags and checked out of AK. Sending our bags we were not taking on the cruise to our next resort. The Beach Club.

By the time we got to the car it was really quite a storm. Hoping it would clear we heading for the port.

What a nice view....

A sight for sore eyes...

We pulled up and dropped off our bags with the porter. That service is wonderful. Then we parked in the garage opposite the terminal. How I love that covered walk way now from the garage to the terminal! A new found respect for that.

We used the conceirge check in at the terminal. A crew member took us personally on board.

To be continued...

Once on board were taken to the conceirge lounge and introduced to the team. They were all to be beyond wonderful in the 3 days to come but Andy from Germany in particular was amazing. Here we are together on Pirate night...

Here is Jo ready to open the door..

Lovely basket and bag from TA Dreams Unlimited! We were blown away by this gift..the mugs would prove very useful..

We then headed for cabanas and enjoyed a lunch time feast :-) oh my goodness it was yummy to the max! Then I cunningly lead us past Eye Scream.. It was vanilla and chocolate today. Jo had a twist I had vanilla.

We then went to the DVC meeting and they had Donald in the lounge...

c36559e807a849efe9c427375598bb1b_zpsf9c62498.jpg

It was fun they had games, a prize draw and nice hats for all. We didn't win the on board credit!

Before dinner we checked out the conceirge lounge. Snacks and drinks were being served. Jo fell in love with a Mickey cookie. She had a glass of wine each night before dinner then took it to the restaurant :-) I fell in love with the 20,000 dollar coffee machine! At last a decent cup of java. I thought of PIO lol..

We really enjoyed the lounge. We meet some wonderful people there. How I wish we could do this every time! Still a great treat! Must not get greedy now!

Dinner that night was The Royal Table. How we love this restaurant. Jo had a beef dish and I had a kids burger. You'll get use to this! ...I have a digestive disease and often order from the kids menu. I can only eat plain simple food and in small portions at a time.

There was nothing on the desert menu for me so this would be a common sight by the adults only area..

I was then very tired. So we went back to the stateroom and watched tv on demand. Via the conceirge lounge..for coffee and late night snacks!

Love your room! I have just said to DH wonder how much it would be to upgrade ... he visibly paled lol!

Looking forward to the rest :goodvibes

Claire :)

That room is stunning. I shall read the next part with special interest as we are seriously consider a taster cruise on the Dream next year. We will likely end up in the common bat cave, but I am interested in reading what I can find around the ship. How nice that Donald was at the DVC meet.

upgrade is lethal! Hard to go back now! Too late for us save yourselves lol..actually next year we have an inside booked on The Magic. A cruise is a cruise and it's the ship that counts! we hardly used the verandah you have no choice with concierge you have to have that class of stateroom. But I wouldn't go out of my way personally to pay extra for one. I prefer being on the sundeck.

we did enjoy the concierge I must admit. The character private meet and greet later will delight you on the conceirge private sundeck. A character you are very fond of...

It was nice having a character just for ourselves!

Oh my goodness look at that RAIN!

Your room is gorgeous, wow! :cloud9:

What a perfect first day of cruising. Concierge sounds fabulous.

Beautiful pic of you and Andy :)

thank you! Concierge was amazing. I simply could not decide where to be! The lounge or the private sundeck!

That sounds promising. I could do with a little blue alien in my life right about now. At the moment I am doing the next best thing for picking up my spirits and that is listening to the soundtrack for Soarin.
