Everything looks great in your classroom! I am just about to start a new job as Director of the preschool that all of my girls have attended. I mentioned to the outgoing director your idea for the "You've got a friend..." bulletin board and she told me I am not allowed to do anything with any Disney characters because Disney is considered violent! I can see the point, but at the same time-don't you think that most 3 and 4 year olds have not only seen Disney movies and characters but love them too??? Sometimes I just don't understand this world.

Was it her rule or the Preschool Board's rule? I say this because I work at a Preschool also. We changed Directors half way through last year. A lot of what was not allowed was her ideas and rules. The new Director spoke to the Board and they were fine with the changes. Seems the old one never asked them, just would tell us no because she could.

Love your classroom. The Disney touches are sweet. I keep forgetting the reason why you have to go back so early is because you get out in May. Here schools go until the very end of June and we don't go back until after Labor Day.

Sounds like you had a good birthday weekend. :) Brooklynn's birthday is coming up real soon, isn't it?

Your classroom looks great! I can't wait to have my own classroom someday to decorate :goodvibes

Love the classroom. All the Disney touches makes learning so much fun.
Glad to see that bag getting such good use ;):upsidedow

It's amazing that Bella fits in that bag! Must be a variation of the "which small space can I get into" game.

It's so hard to me to resist buying pins, they're all great. I kept contemplating just buying the resort ones, especially with the rumors that resort specific merchandise is going away, but never did. I love the ones that you got :thumbsup2

Sounds like you had a great birthday weekend. I can't believe you guys start school so early down there! Then again, you end much earlier than we do up here, too. :)

Your room is beautiful MeMom! Love it! How warm and inviting with all the Disney touches... how great is that!

I am glad your birthday celebrations were low key and with those you love! :goodvibes Can't wait to hear more about your trip, but I hope you enjoy the rest of this week before school starts!!!

Your classroom looks amazing MeMom!! I can't wait to get into mine and start decorating!!

Here's to another great year!!!

What a wonderful classroom. I love all the Disney touches. I wish my kids had had teachers that loved Disney too.

I also love the picture of Bella in the Bag.

I am so glad there are people who can go in late August and September. With everyone back in school in September, I think that would be an awesome time to go. I won't be able to do that until I retire, however, since it is too close to the beginning of the year.

Happy Anniversary! How many years?

Thanks! We've been married 5 years- seems longer though! :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

I am super excited to be going in September, the fall is a great time to go. And free dining! But this will probably be the only year we get to do it... David starts preschool this year and after this year I probably won't want to take him out. And I may start working as a school nurse, so I wouldn't have the time off either!

Love Bella in a bag! So cute!

Your classroom looks like so much fun- I wish I'd had teachers like you growing up! You have some lucky kids!

Hey :wave2: you were in my neck of the woods (OK, a bit north of me, but still). Hope you had a great time in Maine!

Just wanted to say hi  from another Mainer! Whereabouts are you? We live in Bath.

Love your classroom! All the Disney touches are so cute! Hope I see some Disney in my girl's classrooms this year. I plan to bring some little green men into mine. I have the 2 yr olds this yr.

Your room looks amazing !!! My DD will enjoy been in that class. All of those disney details really motivate kids. Last November my DD's teacher celebrated Mickey's Birthday, they were allowed to bring to school their favorite Mickey Mouse item ::MickeyMo. They had cupcakes, a decorated jello, the teacher even made grilled cheese sandwich in the form of Mickey Mouse, they sure had a blast.

The jello looked like this one but was only mickey, this is one the same mom brought for halloween

Love your bulletin boards! I really love seeing others' classrooms because it gives me such good ideas.

Enjoy your last few days off!:goodvibes

Can I be a student in your classroom? Seriously! What a fun place to be all day!

Brooklyn did a great job on the cake -- her use of sprinkles is very artistic! In fact, I think she and Chelsea should open a bakery in DIStown!

So sweet of Jarvis to bring you a gift! How is he doing these days?

That bag of Bella is hilarious! I have that same bag and now I really understand just how little Bella is! :goodvibes

*dreamit*doit* : Yes, I live in Miami too, maybe we can have a dismeet here, it will be really nice

Hi!! It looks like there's a few of us here! Maybe we should plan that sometime. :)

Can I be a student in your classroom? Seriously! What a fun place to be all day!

They can work in my bakery in DIStown!! Chelsea, Brooklynn, and Miren can be the resident cake decorators! :cutie: Can you imagine? The whole budget would be blown on sprinkles!!!! :rotfl:

Well, MeMom, not to quote Jackie, but..."Can I be a student in your classroom? Seriously! What a fun place to be all day!" Seriously!! Miren will love that, too; I'll show her the pictures in the morning.

And, I totally agree - very sweet of Jarvis to have thought of you and stopped by.

So glad you had a nice birthday weekend doing nothing, but very much something.

There are some very cute sprinkles out there! I know because an entire shelf in our cabinet is dedicated to them. :rotfl:

Just dropped in here to say hi, I am working my way through your trip reports as quick as I can before we fly to the happy place! I found your trip reports through the gift shop photo threads and I am hooked, you take fantastic pictures. I have just started reading "Brooklynn takes Bella to see Cinderella" I must keep reading on if I am to get up to date.

Your classroom looks like so much fun, I'm jealous of your students!

I have to try to make it fun for me, as well as for them.

Sometimes I just don't understand this world.

I am sorry to hear that. Maybe you can change that idea after that director is gone for good.

I love the Disney touch in your class room. When I was a parapro I loved coming up with ideas for the boards. Great job Memom! Your room looks like a lot of fun while learning!

There are so many other things I want to get for the room, but I have to wait until our room money arrives.

Seriously???!!!!!!! That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!!!

Maybe she can add a little Disney touch when she takes over.

Clearly the wide spread appeal of characters is indication that the perceived violence is not making a lasting negative effect.

I'm not much for promoting the violent side of Disney, so I pretty much stick with the happy stuff.
You know, like "You've got a friend....."

MeMom your room looks great! I know your kids are going to love learning in your classroom this year.

Sounds like you had a very nice birthday weekend. How sweet of Jarvis to think of you on your birthday and bring a present. Brooklynn's cake looks yummy!

I wish the kids would love to learn, but many of them are not motivated by anything you do. :sad2:

Brooklynn's cake is now almost gone. She enjoyed making it.

I was surprised by the cake pan gift. Jarvis is a great guy!

I want to be in your class! Your classroom is fantastic! My kids would totally love it!

I really enjoyed the parade photos. You had a great viewing spot. Can't wait for more!

I hope it will help my hesitant students be a little more receptive to coming in on the first day.

I'm tall, and I hold my camera high on top of that, so I am lucky to be able to get decent parade pictures without a lot of backs of heads in them. ;)

We're glad you're here. Join in as often as you want. :)

Those little girls get cuter each time I see a picture of them. I would like to have a Bella in a bag.

Your classroom looks really cute. I bet your students will be excited to be in there.

Bella had such fun swinging in that bag. She quite enjoyed that ride!

My students in the past have really thought it was fun and funny that their teacher watched the Disney Channel.

You did an awesome job on your classroom!

I wish my childhood classrooms had Disney touches .... that would have been soo fun!

You got some great pins to add to your collection!

I love the 3 things Nemo is asking them to remember!

Awww, there are those Epcot plush dolls that Lexi likes so much.
I remember seeing them from another post way back when.

I've never seen that Scorceror Mickey before, is he new?

Good to see that Rafiki made it to his special place in your class.
The area turned out Fantastic!

It must be so fun to watch the girls at play.
Do I see Fisher price toys..... I still have the 70's versions of those toys! I was a HUGE Fisher Price fan!

The girls matching dresses are adorable.

It was very thoughtful of Jarvis to remember your birthday, he is one special guy!

That is Philharmagic Mickey! :wizard: Isn't he great?

Those are the Fisher Price toys my kids played with when they were little. I kept a boxful of them.

I need to make a list of the Epcot countries that I have plush dolls from and then be sure to get the rest. I think Morocco is the only country that does not have a Disney 'doll' representing it.

Rafiki did arrive, along with Timon. Not sure where Timon is going to live. Maybe just here at the house with the other animals, but maybe at school, when I have time to think of how I can use him.

Your classroom is great! Makes me wish I was a teacher!

You know we're going to need to see a cupcake cake now, right?

The room decorating is one of the fun parts of teaching. ;)

I will make a cupcake cake when everyone is here on Brooklynn's birthday weekend.

Disney violent? Okay, someone is going to have to explain that to me. I refuse to let my kids watch the majority of cartoons that are not Disney due to violence and horrible behavior.
Love your classroom!! The Toy Story board is so awesome!!

There was just as much violence in Tom and Jerry and the Roadrunner and Bugs Bunny long ago. Seems like that director is just putting her opinion of things in a little too heavily.

Thanks. I liked the Toy Story board. I often put real toys out on the board, but it is so tempting for little hands as they go by, so I just thought it best this year to stick with pictures.

Phew! Caught up again!! I have been busy and away from the Dis but here again!

Your classroom looks awesome!!!! Love it!!

Always glad to have you here when you can be. :thumbsup2

I love the Disney touches in your classroom!

Thanks. They're for me more than the kids. ;)

love the classroom! it looks great. if only all teachers would include all those disney touches!

cute! do they sell those at disney? i may have to get one next time!

enjoy your last few free days! our city school system started yesterday and luke had his first day of 1st grade. anna said he loved it! ray's nephew lives in the next town over and they don't start until the end of next week. the school board had to vote on whether they would postpone the beginning of the school year or let some teachers go and they went with the first option. a lot of people were upset because of less school days, but i think it's a great option. keeps the teachers in the classroom and if i remember correctly, we started around labor day when i was a kid and we all (or most of us anyway) turned out okay!

If they sell Bellas-in-bags in WDW, I will be buying a few! :woohoo:

I think it used to be Labor Day starts for just about everyone, but the south seems to have changed that through the years. I like getting out in mid May, though. I'd like to someday have a summer where I could have a right after school and right before school trips. That would be awesome to have one in late May and late July/early August.

I just loved the videos and meeting the princesses and riding Barnstormer...got my Disney fix for the day!!!
Love your classroom! When do you start school?? We got out so late I am still not quite ready to go back yet!!!

We go back Monday. The kids only come for a half day Thursday, then they start full-time the next Monday.

The videos were fun, weren't they? :goodvibes

Hey :wave2: you were in my neck of the woods (OK, a bit north of me, but still). Hope you had a great time in Maine!

We did. We have been to Bangor many times but this one was on the few summer trips that we weren't getting on a plane and flying to WDW. That was a bit of a bummer. We had never been to Bar Harbor before and we only got a quick look around before driving back home but it is a beautiful spot. I think I got some great pictures but I haven't taken them off the camera yet to check.

Maybe you guys can have a DIS meet one of these days.

I think your classroom looks great and the Disney touches are adorable! Was the Toy Story bulletin board a set? So cute!!

I managed to get mine finished Sunday night late but no pictures taken. Next time I get to school I'll take the camera and snap some to share...

That bag o' Bella certainly put a smile on my face!

One of my students made a cupcake cake last year and it was very cute, I'm sure Brooklynn will bake up a lovely creation the next time she comes for a visit.
Does it take a standard cake mix?

The pictures are from a party decoration set, and the letters were from Parent-Teacher Store. I thought the letters were just perfect to go with the toy theme.

I know Brooklynn will love the cupcake cake. I'll make one for her to decorate when she's here next weekend.

I want my kids to be in your classroom MeMom! I adore the Disney touches. I'm glad you had a nice, relaxing birthday weekend with your three girls. Sounds about perfect to me.

I would love to have your sweet kids!

yeah, the schools up here start school the day after labor day. but then again, they end around june 15th. so i guess there's pros and cons to both!

True. When we were out in May and a lot of people were still going way into June, I was glad. Now that we are going back and others still have until after Labor Day, I am less glad.

Your classroom looks great. Those are very lucky kids, for sure!!

Love the bag 'o Bella.

So happy you enjoyed your b-day weekend and have plans to enjoy this week before it's back to the grindstone on Monday. Enjoy!!

Bella was carrying the bag on her arm, and I realized she could fit into it. I put her into it and started swinging it, and she loved it!

I am going in for a while today, and then I am done until Monday. I will enjoy my next four days before going in is no longer a choice.

Your bulletin boards look great

 all your new pins ! My fav is the MSEP one with Pete's Dragon !

Cute pictures of the girls playing this weekend . I saw a record player on the floor there that reminds me of the one my kids play with that was mine as a kid ! I assume it must have been your kids (mine was Sesame Street )

How sweet of Jarvis to get you a Birthday present Can't wait to see the 1st giant cupcake you bake !

Pins were about my only souvenirs this time, and I was happy with what I got. We looked for a 1900 Park Fare pin, but had to settle for the GF pin.

Love the Disney touches around the classroom. It's a shame that not everyone is allowed to do the same Although I'd be tempted to sneak in a few words/phrases just for me, even if there were no characters present!

Looks like the weekend was perfect family time, no need for any other excitement

I would think you could sneak in a little Disney. So far, no principal has ever said anything to me about it.

Great trip report!

Thanks. So glad you are enjoying it. Feel free to join in whenever.

I am hoping that when she takes over, she will be able to bring at least a little Disney fun in.

Love your classroom. The Disney touches are sweet. I keep forgetting the reason why you have to go back so early is because you get out in May. Here schools go until the very end of June and we don't go back until after Labor Day.

Sounds like you had a good birthday weekend. Brooklynn's birthday is coming up real soon, isn't it?

Brooklynn will be a big four year old girl in just a couple of weeks. :cutie:

I think I like our schedule the way it is now. With them adding the fall break, it does help break things up. January and February are long, if we don't have snow days, but other than that, we do have frequent breaks, which really is nice.

Your classroom looks great! I can't wait to have my own classroom someday to decorate

You will have to share your ideas with us. :)

Love the classroom. All the Disney touches makes learning so much fun.
Glad to see that bag getting such good use

It's amazing that Bella fits in that bag! Must be a variation of the "which small space can I get into" game.

You didn't know you were sending us a ride, did you?

My idea was to hang the bags on the fan blades and turn them into a Dumbo kind of ride.

It's so hard to me to resist buying pins, they're all great. I kept contemplating just buying the resort ones, especially with the rumors that resort specific merchandise is going away, but never did. I love the ones that you got

Sounds like you had a great birthday weekend. I can't believe you guys start school so early down there! Then again, you end much earlier than we do up here, too.

I want to get a resort pin from every place I go from now on, even if I just visit. I am afraid the day might come that resort specific anything will disappear.

Yep, we are just about ready to start a new school year. :upsidedow

Your room is beautiful MeMom! Love it! How warm and inviting with all the Disney touches... how great is that!

I am glad your birthday celebrations were low key and with those you love! Can't wait to hear more about your trip, but I hope you enjoy the rest of this week before school starts!!!

I will enjoy the rest of the week and get plenty of relaxing in while I can. Jill will be loading the pictures on by days now, so I will be at her mercy as to putting pictures up. This is a very busy week for her, as she has a lot of extra stuff going on at school, so it may be this weekend before she gets a chance to load any.

Your classroom looks amazing MeMom!! I can't wait to get into mine and start decorating!!

Here's to another great year!!!

Just knowing I have no TCAP does make the start of a new year much better. :thumbsup2

What a wonderful classroom. I love all the Disney touches. I wish my kids had had teachers that loved Disney too.

I also love the picture of Bella in the Bag.

My students do love the Disney stuff. It's so cute when they color Disney pictures for me, too. I just love them, and I hang them up on the cabinet.

I love that picture of a little smiling Bella-head.

Thanks! We've been married 5 years- seems longer though!

Just wanted to say hi  from another Mainer! Whereabouts are you? We live in Bath.

School nurses are saints! We have a great one!

Enjoy this trip. I bet there will be no crowds at all! :cool1:

Love your classroom! All the Disney touches are so cute! Hope I see some Disney in my girl's classrooms this year. I plan to bring some little green men into mine. I have the 2 yr olds this yr.

I was going to buy the green aliens this summer, but I decided to wait for my room money. I will get them in October and use them for a Math center.

Your room looks amazing !!! My DD will enjoy been in that class. All of those disney details really motivate kids. Last November my DD's teacher celebrated Mickey's Birthday, they were allowed to bring to school their favorite Mickey Mouse item. They had cupcakes, a decorated jello, the teacher even made grilled cheese sandwich in the form of Mickey Mouse, they sure had a blast.

The jello looked like this one but was only mickey, this is one the same mom brought for halloween

232323232fp999_nu3243_285_69_WSNRCG335_83572339nu0mrj.jpg

We need to learn how to do that jello thing!

We 'celebrate' Mickey's birthday, too.

Love your bulletin boards! I really love seeing others' classrooms because it gives me such good ideas.

Enjoy your last few days off!

I'm always up for new ideas, too, so add yours in.

I will enjoy these precious last days. :cool2:

Can I be a student in your classroom? Seriously! What a fun place to be all day!

Brooklyn did a great job on the cake -- her use of sprinkles is very artistic! In fact, I think she and Chelsea should open a bakery in DIStown!

So sweet of Jarvis to bring you a gift! How is he doing these days?

That bag of Bella is hilarious! I have that same bag and now I really understand just how little Bella is!

Jarvis is doing well. He is seeing a girl in a long distance way. She lives in Chicago. It's a girl he dated a long time ago, and they have reconnected. he is a good catch, so I hope she is a deserving girl. Trent met her when they were at his last competition. Maybe it will turn out to be a good thing. :)

Yeah, that's not a very big bag, is it?

The DIStown Bakery sounds fabulous! I will probably stop in on a regular basis. :thumbsup2

Hi!! It looks like there's a few of us here! Maybe we should plan that sometime.

They can work in my bakery in DIStown!! Chelsea, Brooklynn, and Miren can be the resident cake decorators! Can you imagine? The whole budget would be blown on sprinkles!!!!

Yes, you guys need to do a DIS meet!!! :dance3: :cheer2:
And meet at a Disney Store and give us a multitude of pictures. :woohoo:

I want to know what Miren says about the classroom. :cutie:

There are some very cute sprinkles out there! I know because an entire shelf in our cabinet is dedicated to them.

They will be ordering sprinkles by the barrel, I think. :)

Maybe the name of the bakery could be Sprinkled Treats and Sweets, or something like that.

We are always so happy to have new friends! :cool1:
Hope you enjoy the read, and feel free to joing in any time.

I looove your classroom! Want to move to Cinci so Doug can have you? :lol:I can't believe how close the start of school is. Didn't summer just start?
