Our first night on 9/29 is at Poly. We are undecided about where to eat, but want to stay close. If we walk to TTC, is it one stop to DTD? I assume it's a bus.
I have stayed at the Poly three times and the ride to DTD is not that long but the wait for the bus is always long. We have learned our lesson and now take a cab.
If you have a car I would recommend taking that to Downtown Disney and not the Disney Transport bus. My personal belief is that from the Magic Kingdom Resort the Downtown Disney bus takes forever going or coming bac and the wait is not worth it. Plus with your own car you can get there in 15 minutes which is a lot faster.
I don't think you can catch a bus from the Ticket and Transportation Center to DTD. You can from the MK and maybe from the Poly itself...I don't know for sure - I drive.
If you just want to have dinner, you've got 'Ohana, Kona Cafe, Captain Cooks and a dinner show all at the Poly itself. Then there are more restaurants at the Grand Floridian, Contemporary and Magic Kingdom - all on the monorail line.

Since the theme parks don't offer bus service to and from Downtown Disney there is no bus directed bus from the Magic Kingdom, so that means getting on at one of the Magic Kingdom Resorts on the Resort Monorail line.
In the past the the Downtown Disney bus from the Contemporary would also pick up guests at the TTC, however that has stoped so I also think you can not get a bus to Downtown Disney from the TTC.

You can only catch a bus to DTD from a resort. The TTC does not have bus service to DTD.
So you need to catch a bus to DTD from the Poly. It will be shared with the other MK resorts.
If you are going to drink, I also suggest some other form of transportation other than your car. Orange County SO has an increased presence at WDW now. They are not hesitating to stop guests.
