From Oil Wells to Jingle Bells-Bells,pg.66, See you in September!

Is your wife a Disney fan, and does she get on these boards? Or are you the only sick one?

No. No. Yes, absolutely.

Ok, let's see if you can guess which hand is the one that Smidgy used to "break" her fall.

ummm... the middle one? How'd she break her fall? By swinging a brick at your hand?? :lmao:

isn't it famousocity?

Famoulicious

Two nights ago,,,,,, on MeTV,,,,,,with the little clock in the corner,,,,,,,
Hawkeye tells WInchester, "No need to tell us the incredibly obvious, the merely obvious will do."
You watched it too, didn't you?

Not recently. Funny that it was on just a couple of days ago, though. So since you mention the "little clock in the corner", who says this: "a clock... 10 o'clock". Here's a hint... it's a trick question.

okay! okay! I'll read your old TRs! Promise!
We had an interesting evening at Boma. Both DDs were quite happy with the kids buffet. DW took one look and stated, "I can't eat anything." She too had the kids buffet. Kids buffet is of course a euphemism for mac & cheese. I liked the regular buffet. But those zebra domes... mmmm..... zebra domes.... mmmmm.... hang on I need a minute here... mmmm.... Nope. Minute's not going to do it.

Seems all is wrapping up & I'm just too late for the the party. well i have a lot of enjoyable reading to do. stay safe & have fun. keep writing.

Yay, reruns of episodes that I loved! It doesn't get any better than this. :cool1:

Love you Marie, mean it. So easy to please!

:rotfl2:

Are the potatos really called "Potatoe Afritude"?

And did I point out the reference to my favorite movie, The Princess Bride, during the first run of this wonderful review? :confused3

yeah, pretty sure I got that right, potatoes "afritude".
And NOOOO! You nor anybody else caught, or at least mentioned that the first time around I don't think. I was dissappointed but thank you now for getting it.........almost 4 years later.:lmao: geesh,.,,, inconcievable.

ponz I don't have a clue about that, doesn't sound familiar.

LadyMar, do you feel like you got to the party after midnight and everyone is starting to leave?

Ok, one thing; retina specialist tomorrow again because he found out there's still a little bit left in the checking account. No idea if we are talking another injection or not,, but it's not gotten better, maybe a bit worse,,,, I'm so tired of thinking about it.

of course, I'll let you know, hugs, neb

Tracy, and Sandy, and Rozz, I thank you, you have all been great readers and supporters but as always,, I'm looking forward to the next trip, and REALLY looking forward to not being cold at Disney again.

Well Bill is a glutton for punishment and has talked me into going back at the exact same time as when we met you :scared1:. His famous last words... "it can't be that cold 2 years in a row, can it?" We are split staying with no value resort in sight. The monorail will be my friend this next trip :goodvibes.

And boy, are they good!"

FYI
I make falafel often. You can purchase the mix at the grocery store it is
a vegetarian/vegan dry mix. It is wheat germ, garbanzo beans, fava beans, soy protein, potato flour, soy flour, spices, onions, garlic and parsley.
(Just read the box for you.) You mix with water and shape into patties or balls, then fry in oil in a skillet. We enjoy Boma. My husband and I eat
all foods, but our daughter is vegetarian and son vegan. When we go
to Boma the chefs are very creative and my children have the best meal in all of WDW.

Wow, I missed it! I'm ashamed of myself. Well, at least I did not miss this one! ;)

Good luck!

Nebo, crossing all appendages for you tomorrow! :grouphug:

I can't believe this trip is almost over. What will we do without you???? :sad2:

who says this: "a clock... 10 o'clock". Here's a hint... it's a trick question.

ponz I don't have a clue about that, doesn't sound familiar.

Both Winchester and Col. Flag say it. Winchester sets up Flag by making him bust up a poker game with Col. Potter and some high up South Koreans. Charles leads him to a "clue" by planting it under the pillow of a North Korean wounded soldier. The interplay goes something like this:

Charles:"It looks like a map of a camp."
Flag:"It's a map of a camp."
Charles:"This camp."
Flag:"Looks like this camp. There's a circle around Pierce's tent and another circle with two arrows."
Charles:"A clock."
Flag:"A clock."
Charles:"10 o'clock."
Flag:"10 o'clock... yes I think I can fit that into my schedule."

Good luck with the eye!

crap, if I'd known it was a Mash thing I'd have worke harder at it,,,,,,yeah, should have gotten that, I remember idt well.

See how well I sleep before I get to see Dr. Marquis de Sade?

Marita, where in Montana are you going... and in June! Summer hits most of the state around July 4th.

Sandy, going to Great Falls to visit our son who is stationed there in the Air Force. He bought a house there in 2009, so looking forward to seeing where he lives. And I can't go in the summer, as Disney conveniently schedules budget over the end of June all the way to end of September!

I'll just putter around the house and garden and cook meals and take a few trips to the country, sounds like a relaxing time.

PS: I can fly to Germany for less and in about the same time it takes to go to Montana!! Go figure.

The weather isn't too bad in Great Falls, windy but warmer than the higher elevations. I don't care much for the countryside around there, but further west it's pretty. Glacier Park is not too far away and really worth a visit. I think the Charlie Russell Museum is in Great Falls, and it's worth a look.
You're not far from Helena, which has a pretty setting and 3 lakes. Try to take a boat ride through the "Gates of the Mountains" - really really pretty, and they have boat excursions in the summer. Helena also has a nice museum you could visit. If you don't mind driving further, go to Virginia City and Nevada City, or to Lewis & Clark Caverns near Whitehall.

Boy, I got totally lost where I left off here, didn't help when I got up in the middle of the night and posted under Smidgy's name, no Ponzi, Smidgy isn't appreciative of some of the more upscale cultural forms of entertainment like M*A*S*H.

I wouldn't take it. With jobs being so plentiful nowadays I'd stand right up to Bob Igor and tell him you can very easily replace his mouse with a cat in the hat if you can't take off when you want.

What are you flying on, Air Dumbo?

Ok, let's see if I have this correct:
Marita is starting out in the warm south, then going to the cold north for vacation in Montana, near the great city of Virginia City, which is not in Virginia but actually in Nevada, (ask the Cartwrights), and near Nevada City, which is now in Montana, and she's getting tips about Montana from SandyMouse, who lives in Louisiana and they say I'm nuts!

Well Bill is a glutton for punishment and has talked me into going back at the exact same time as when we met you :scared1:. His famous last words... "it can't be that cold 2 years in a row, can it?"

Yep, you're asking for it, I remember the last time somebody tempted fate like that when John Astor, after hurting his knee doing the limbo contest said, "Well, it can't get any worse now," when he was on a new cruise ship.

We are split staying with no value resort in sight. The monorail will be my friend this next trip :goodvibes.

Sounds great Tracy, if we can still keep ours for September we're still split staying at BLT and AKV's. Never before had an all upscale split stay like that before in Disney. No, Vero Beach doesn't really count.

How about this for an idea Marita, you could read somethinig worthwhile that will enrich you lives, unlike this drivel, like the Natiional Enquirer.

And thanks Nikki and the rest, here's what basically came out of the doc meet.

Tuesday morning before we left for the 45 minute drive to Des Plaines to see him, I guess I was doing my patented just staring into space routine while sitting on the couch with my jacket on.
Smidgy said I looked nervous and I had to ask her if it was the uncontrollable shaking that gave me away.
Then she gave me a hug and asked what I'd like to hear from him.

From what I understand, it's very rare to only get one injection in the eye of that Avastin that I got in January.
But it costs over 850 bucks a pop every time we do that dance. And that's with a special uninsured moron rate applied.

Then we still have a laser treatment possibility out there, but he was reluctant to go that route at first cuz it can do more damage than good a lot of the times.
Plus, now we are really cranking up the costs.

So, what I ended up telling Smidgy was that I can put up with an awful lot,,,,,,, if you just tell me there is going to ba a light at the end of the tunnel, in the end. Yeah, that metaphor turned out to be literal as well as figurative in this case.

"What I'd really like to hear is that the macula has stopped hemmoraging,,,, hemmhorageing,,,, bleeding,,,,,,,and that there is no need for another shot.
Now, it is just going to take a lot of time for small rips, tears, flaking, staining, whatever has happened to the center of my retina, to self heal itself and for the most part go back to normal. Yeah, that's what I wanna hear I guess."

On the way there it was a good thing I didn't have any smokes with me.

Ive mentioned before that my guy is a tad on the old side, just this side of 110 so he is only there 2 days a week and on those days this office is realy crowded, even though there's other retina specialists in the office he's got quite a following, maybe it's because people like to hear his stories about when he was a young waiter and got a 12 top at the Last Supper.
But today the place is almost empty, for 11 o'clock it should be packed in here.
I signed in, 5 minutes later they called me and after the usual questions and stuff from the girl in the little dark room, she gave me the industrial strength dilation drops again, both eyes. There's actually 2 sets of different drops for this, can't believe that one type isn't enough.

Then it's back in the lobby to wait.
But I haven't seen the doc at all yet passing through, and he's always passing through or being paged or told the film is ready over the loudspeaker or there's a walker sale in aisle 7.

He's not here yet, I can tell.

It would be just my luck to have him drop dead in his sleep and now I've been dilated for nothing! Well, the rest of my day is shot now, thank you very much.

And i've been watching the entry door, we are on the 4th floor and I can see everybody that has come in.

People are starting to come in now and the room is filling up, finally, I see him walk by, Peter behind him.

The only thing I can figure out is there is a hidden elevator and secret entrance to the back of the offices, but at least he's here.

And now every once in a while a woman in a white coat comes out with a clipboard in hand and says a name, but so far she's not saying the right name, I thought she was mainly working with the other doctors that share the offices.

Sometimes, I just hate sitting in doc's offices, I just hate hate hate it and in this case, I can't even read anything due to the dilating, I just wanted it all over with and over with right now.

She came back out, clipboard in hand and I've already got my hand up, " Ooh, Pick me! Pick me!"

"Steve Nebo?"

I felt like sitting there a minute or so, hey, she's asking for me, I've got HER now, I'm in charge, I've got the "hand". See how she likes being ignored.

When she said it again I stood up, "Oh, right here."

Then she put Smidgy in a regular eye room and dragged me with her next door into a closet.
Yes, not kidding, maybe closet doesn't describe it too well, it wasn't really that big as a normal closet, room for a chair for her, chair for me and a contraption in between us with the requisite chin holder that's in all rooms in an eye doc's orifice.

office.

I was scared this was going to be another of the "torture by the optical canon" routines, (trademark GrandBob), but no, this here thang is called the OCT, in casual retina specialists jargon.

This woman was very good looking so of course I wanted to dazzle her with my wit;

"Oh, OCD?" "Great, I'm told I'm very good at this test, Smidgy says I can even make other people start doing things over and over and,,,,,"

Even though it was too dark in there to see her, I could tell this was going over like a Led Zeppelin.

"OCT!"
"Optical Coherence Tomography."

"I knew that."

Not really sure how this thing works, you stare at a little dot in the center and little lines and "fireworks" flash through that center dot. I'ts not a field test but it is also somehow taking pictures of the eye as this is going on.

But there's no pain involved here at all, unlike the optical canon that also takes pictures. (trademark GrandBob)

Then I join Smidgy and we wait until Doc comes in.

He does and wants me to descibe exactly how the eye has been,,,,,, and I just hate doing that, it is just so hard to try to explain exactly what it is I'm seeing and why and what about it is so wrong.

After he blinded me some more examining my eyes, and I told him it's a little like over twenty years ago when it took him a while to find a detatchement that I had because it kept folding itself back into place. I wasn't sure that it maybe just might be BOTH things happening at once in the eye, small bursts in the macula seeping fluid through the retina AND a detatchment to go along with as an extra side order.

When he was done, he sat back in his chair reading my chart again and making notations, wasn't saying a word and his silence was not only unusual, but a tad ominous so I broke the silence and just said, "Thoughts?"

"Yes, After I go and see if the film is ready from the OCT and read them, Then you will get my thoughts."

Yep, the ominous feeling was getting stronger now, Diane said she felt that way herself, wasn't just me.

He came back in ten minutes and pulled up a chair.
Normally he's gonna show me the pictures and diagrams of the eye and pics of his grandkids as he explains things to me, but not today.

"Nebo, you don't have another detachment.
There is also NO new blood or any other fluid seeping through the macula anymore, which means there is no reason to give you another shot, no point.
With the shape of ;your eye though, as you get older the retina is still stretched out, which is making it thin, that's not going to change. ]

Another thing that happens as you age is you lose cells, say you had 1000 cells in your macula when you were younger, now you only have 900 that are replacing themselves constantly.

There is still some "stains" on the macula, and that will make things seem wavy, plus you have quite a bit of swelling yet from when fluid forced it's way in, and I think things will improve a lot when we can get the swelling and inflamation down. "

He then went on to tell me about anti oxidants and stuff,,,, and basically wants me to take this stuff called Lutein,,,,,, 40 miligrams a day,,,, along with Occuvite,,,,,a vitamins with zinc and anti oxidants and other crap that's supposed to be goood for the eye.

And to come back and see him in 6 weeks.

Well, what to you know?
That's pretty much what I was hoping was going to be the outcome from the very beginning!

I bought these pills, not cheap, the lutein was over 20 bucks for only 30 count, and you can tell there's zinc and metals in the Occuvite, it smells like an old tin can when you take the lid off.
Not sure how this kind of thing is good for eyes but even after only taking them a few days now I can feel a difference already:
I keep turning to the north!

Anywya, that's about it, they say it's getting better, it's just going to take a while before it will trickle down to where I can see the results, when something like this happens, if it's wrong at ALL, that's all you mind can think of and that's where mine is.

So, yes, I will get back to the report, still gotta finish this baby off, guten abend, neb:hug:

Nebo, YAY!!! SO happy for the good report card! :yay::yay::yay:

Sandy, thanks for the suggestions for Montana, got them saved.

Nebo, Summer may leave Montana on July 5th, but he says 30's there is short and flip-flop weather, and I tell him that snow is good cause it means he can use the new snowblower he just bought!

Forgot to say, my Montana plans also include making Heart Attack on a plate, been ages, but sooo good!

I have so much to go back and catch up on. I have been MIA lately and have only recently got back to posting on my own TR!

So glad to hear you got a thumbs up on the eyes again. I bet that was a huge relief.

Ok, going back now to read what I have missed.

:rotfl::happytv::rotfl2:

except .. I don't believe you. Nebo NEVER turns to the NORTH! it's SOUTH, always SOUTH!

Glad to hear this news!! As always you are in my thoughts and prayers, I hope that eye just gets better and better with the meds.

We are split staying with the Poly and Boardwalk Villas on the November trip. I have stayed in mods or Pop so this will be an experience :rotfl:. We are popping down to Pop in May though for another D23 event, they suckered me into it. I love stuff about Disney history and this is supposed to have a ton of it! I finally get to see the Flower and Garden fest too so that is a bonus!

I can't wait to read about your deluxe split stay experience, don't let people hog the pool chairs!!
