Anyone have a suggestion for a party of 7 (4 adults, 2 teens, 1 kid) from MCO to the Port then Port to WDW then back to MCO. A rental seems the cheapest but I'm not sure if 7 plus luggage will fit. Would full size SUV or full size van work?

Thanks for any input or sharing any experiences.

The full size van or an SUV may be your answer. You should be able to find a roundtrip price around $200. to $220. The car service will pick you up at the baggage claim floor, drop you off at the port and return to take you back to MCO. If you get a rental for the length of the cruise you will have to pay parking also. It is now $12.00 a day. Also no going after and returning the car. The boards here offer some suggestions as to car services.

Do you think the full size SUV or full size van would give us more room? We're staying at the Radison and my understanding is you can park there for free if you stay there.

You are thinking about renting a car. You definitely need a full size van, 7 passenger or better, or an SUV the size of a Chevrolet Suburban for your family. The Raddison has transportation to the cruise terminal. Do you plan on using the rental car for any purpose other than going to the cruise. If not the cost of the car rental would cost you more than the car service to the port or the Raddison. Maybe not, I am not that familiar with the rental fees in Orlando.

I think if you do some research on capacity (go to any car rental site, put in your dates, the resulting page should show you a variety of vehicles and either display what each will hold regarding people and luggage, or give you a link to that information), you'll see that you need at LEAST a minivan. Edd's right (and no, it didn't hurt to say that :)) - unless you need the rental for some other purpose than to get between the airport and the cruise port, it's most likely cheaper to book a car service. DISBoards sponsor FL Tours has a special discount for board participants - click the link at the top of this page; and other car services are probably comparable.

Thanks so much for the responses.

In case this information helps anyone else...so far the best deal is rental - we reserved with Budget full size van for 1 day $122.88 from MCO to Port and rerent for 2 days from Port to WDW to MCO for $174.58. We'd rather drive minivan or suv but worried about luggage space - the backs can be really small on certain models. Can't find anyone with a Suburban rental. The $300 is the same as the car services but we get the use of the car while at WDW and stop at our leisure on the way to the port.

www.artsshuttle.com is a van service who's rates seem to be pretty good. He would pick you up, drop you and be waiting for you and no worry about renting a car. Worth a look.
