? from Land Newbie~where to stay

Trying to get together some info for our Honeymoon trip (3/1/2009) and our first pick was a trip to DL. We are thinking 4 nights in Anaheim would be plenty of time to enjoy the parks and an exploring road trip for a few days to other CA (non theme park) destinations. We have been WDW AP holders several times and have made numerous trips to the resort and always stayed on property. Seems like DL is a whole new ballgame. Are the hotels on property worth the $$ over the prices outside of DL? Are there perks for the DL Resort Guests like there are in WDW, such as extra magic hours, free transportation, package delivery, etc.

And what about the Hojo? I've read its in walking distance and is a nice hotel, but I have gotten burned on 'walking distance' (at Universal ,FL) before so I'm a little skeptical. Any info or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to start with Hydroguy's Tips compilation. There's several threads in there about DL for WDW vets, and they talk about how the accomodations are a different ballgame :

Be sure and read "Hydroguy's Hotel Rule" on there, and in it, follow the link to the MiceChat article "How Far Is It?" about distances to and from the hotels.

HoJo is great and a wonderful value, especially with the Entertainment book rate. We just stayed there two weeks ago and were very pleased. But for your honeymoon? I'd stay at the Grand Californian if at all possible. Then, if ever, it's time to splurge on the very best! And it is definitely the closest, having its own private entrance to California Adventure.
