First, congratulations on the soccer win!!! Woo hoo!!!

Now on to your update...

Ugh to waking up to the "movie meets real life" moment.

I can't believe RnRC was down! What a bummer for you!

The Tower of Terror seriously creeps me out, but I do love all the rotting decadence of the theming. So well done!

My very own Hidden Magic book came yesterday -- I can't wait to start reading it! :thumbsup2

Hi all.....

I have been seriously missing from the DIS lately because.......

1. Soccer
2. I have been too busy at work to DIS (Yes - it happens every once in awhile) :rotfl:
3. We have a clinician running a workshop at our church right now. He is doing sessions with all the music ministers and he gave a concert on Friday night. WoW.....what a voice. His name is Joe Simmons and he sang the psalm during the Pope's mass at JFK stadium a few years ago. That is a BIG, BIG deal! He also gave a 1 day workshop yesterday, which took all day.

So.....what's new with soccer:

Well, unfortunately I don't have much to report, because the NorEaster canceled all the thursday night games. They were rescheduled last night. So the last eight teams played and we hosted two games at our school. I worked the concession stand for four hours and made more hot chocolate than I care to think about. Actually, it was fun. I like all the parents at my kid's school and we made a decent amount of money. It all goes to our soccer banquet. We want the state to keep asking us to host games. It's a huge $ maker!

So Brian plays Monday night. If they win, they play thursday night. The finals are still on Saturday night!

Now....on to Nicholas.....his game was canceled yesterday due to wet field conditions. It is rescheduled to today. I am actually happy about that, because I couldn't attend yesterday's game. It turns out they actually came in at 4th place (not 3rd), so they are playing the 1st place team today. Same team they lost to last week.

Now, here's the good news.....I am off this week. I had to use up some vacation that won't carry over. And, although I hate to take vacation and not go anywhere, it will be a good chance to get some stuff down around the house. So....I hope to update several times this week.

Remember I told you that I am taking a soccer moms trip to Disney in May 2011. Well, one of the soccer moms said how much she would really like to go next fall during Food & Wine. Could that happen????? Could soccer moms descend on the world during soccer season AND have Dis meets, too?????

I promise to be back later today with updates. Promise!!!!!

:cool1::banana::banana::woohoo: WOOT!!! Congrats to Brian and his soccer team!!!!! :dance3::yay::banana::cool1: I'll be rooting for them in their next game!!!!

Hope the weather is better this week!!!!

OOOH your clinical sounds like a lot of fun!!!! What a great experience.

Okay so we'll add TOT and yes we'll see...but I'm telling you now if you ask Paula she'll tell you exactly how jittery I get in that ride...then again maybe I should save that for our TR LOL!!!!!

Good luck today! Woohoo for vacation time, even if you are just hanging out around the house. You could start on christmas shopping! :)

Congrats to Brian and Good luck to Nicholas today...:cheer2:...sending good vibes out to both of them...:goodvibes I hope that everything goes well...

(ahh...the life of a soccer mom or a karate mom or a cub scout mom or a theatre mom is never done is it?...;)...it's always something...:confused3...

I love the idea of a soccer mom get away to Food and Wine...:cool1:...what fun...

Good luck with the time off...I hope you get everything done that you want to...:thumbsup2

And hey, soccer mom's need a break too! And definitely wine:goodvibes

Good luck to both boys!!

Have fun with your time off! Sometimes it's nice to have a vacation and not go anywhere. Imagine how quiet the house will be during the day!

Thanks for all the well wishes for today and tomorrow! Unfortunately, Nicholas' team lost today 2 to 1 on the final play of the game. The other team scored just as the ref blew the whistle. :sad2:

Oh well....I wasn't too upset because I knew they were going to have a hard time beating this team. The other team definately got to the ball quicker and possessed the ball better. They were also pretty physical, but so is our team. It was a well fought game.

The only thing I can say is, in general, Nick's team is playing a lot better because most of the boys are getting the advantage of playing high school soccer. I was really thinking of moving Nick off this team to a more competitive one, but I think he will probably stay through the spring season.

So....the real important game is tomorrow night and that's Round two of the high school games. The eight teams in the second round will play to see who goes to the semis. :cheer2::worship::cheer2: is how I feel about it! Its an 8pm game. At least the weather is decent.

I really want to get this update done tonight, so I may respond to everyone tomorrow. I also have soooooooooooo many TR's that I haven't read in DAYS and I am so far behind. Just know I am with you in spirit if I haven't checked in on your TR for awhile. I am going to cry when I see how many pages behind I am on some of them.

Side Note: It is beautiful here tonight, so I went out for a run in the dark. I live in one of the southern fly zones for PHL airport. On a clear night I can see the twinkling lights of the southernmost approaching planes as they wait patiently in their holding positions. Tonight was one of those nights and I couldn't help wonder how many people up in the sky were just returning from a much anticipated trip to the most magical place on earth. I knew, JUST KNEW, that one of those motionless planes was holding a fellow Disney lover or two. So, whoever you are, whereever you are.....WELCOME HOME!

So when I left off, over a week ago, Denny and I had just finished riding ToT. When we entered the park RnR was down, so we grabbed FP's. When we got off ToT we went over to use our FP's.....only we didn't need them. The ride was up and it was as much of a walk - on as RnR could be. We queued right up for outside the door for the preshow. I love that part.

"Get me a Limo. Look's like we need a stretch. Make that a super stretch".

Through the preshow and on to the ride. I did NOT take any pictures in the queue. I get nervous that I am not going to get my camera put away in time. I guess I could just cruise at the end of the line and take my time, but I just wanted to get my ride on.

We got a seat in the middle of the car. I like the front and the middle. I do NOT like the back seats, especially the back cars....too rough....gives me a headache. So perfect seat......Time to Blast off....

HS was pretty empty. I can't remember the last time I saw the park this empty. It was really relaxing.

Our next stop was a surprise to Denny. I really wanted to go to the animation studio and draw my own character. When we walked up to that area, I sprung the idea on Denny.

Sept2009-Disney1384.jpg

He wasn't lovin' it, but agreed to go in and watch the little preshow....the one with mooshue (or however you spell his name). Then it was time to do some drawings. We lined up and Denny announced his wanted to find a restroom. Yup - how convenient! He went off for a bio break and I went in to draw a character because the doors opened just a couple minutes after he left.

There were several people in my goup who had already drawn characters before, so the CM was careful not to repeat any of those characters. She decided on Pluto. I took a seat in the back row, which was really convenient because I had an empty seat next to me. I decided to draw a character for me AND one for Denny. Yup - I drew two Plutos in the time everyone else drew one. I was rushing back and forth between the two papers, trying to keep up with all the instructions.

At the end of the class I had this.......

Sept2009-Disney1355.jpg

And I had his twin for Denny, but I guess I didn't take a picture of that one.

So, it was about 1115 now and we had some time to kill before lunch. Our lunch ADR was 1130 at the Hollywood Brown Derby. This was one of the ADR's I wasn't sure about. I love the BD, I really do....but I wasn't sure if I wanted to use 2 TS for lunch. As it turns out, it was the perfect lunch time ADR. The restaurant was quiet, uncrowded, and a wonderful reprieve from the increasing heat. We roamed around for a bit, but ultimately decided to check in early.

I took some photos while we were waiting in the lobby.....

When we were seated you can see that we really did have the place to ourselves.....

After we were seated, I took a picture of two post cards that I bought in the gift shop. I love these post cards. I collect them and I can only find them at HS. They are very high grade and I like to frame them. Here are my latest finds:

I especially love the fireman. How cute!

So bring on the food pictures (Disclaimer....I really have to work at taking better food pictures next trip. I try to hurry up and they all turn out blurry).

First up.....

Sept2009-Disney1356.jpg

My appetizer was a basic salad of greens, tomatoes, nuts, and feta. It was very good and not too filling. I do enjoy the cobb salad, but I wanted to try something different.

Denny's appe was a crab cake. So far he was 3 out of 4 on the crab cake appetizers....

Sept2009-Disney1357.jpg

I guess I was getting bored with taking pictures of the crab cakes, because that is the most unfocused picture ever!

So....on to the entrees...

Mine......

Denny's......
Sept2009-Disney1363.jpg

I went to the Allearsnet.com to try to remember what our entrees were, but I can't find them. I believe that my fish was tilapia and Denny's was tuna or mahi mahi.

Here are the descriptions for our appetizers........

Baby Greens Salad - with grape tomatos, candied pecans, Midnight Moon goat cheese and cabernet vinaigrette $8

Blue Jumbo Lump Crab Cake - with potato crust, green cabbage slaw, Dijon mustard, and remoulade sauces $12

Finally...for dessert....... the ever popular........

Grapefruit Cake - A Brown Derby Original! Light Layers of Yellow Cake with fresh Grapefruit Cream Cheese Icing $7

Yes....that cake IS in plastic. We decided to ask for the cake to go. We were just too stuffed to eat it there.

We really lingered over lunch. It really was an enjoyable meal. The food and service were excellent.

After lunch we stepped outside into the heat. We had no plan whatsoever. I was thinking about the back lot tour, but first we decided to visit the Little Mermaid. I am embarassed to say that I have never seen this show before. I read about it on LL's May TR and I decided I needed to see it for myself. I sat up front and tried to take a few pics.....

I have to admlt....I spent too much time taking pictures and not enough time watching the show. I actually got confused. I was like....what....its over already. :confused3 I don't get it! LOL.

Anyway, it was cute, but I really need to go back and watch the show without trying to take pictures.

After we left the Mermaid we started to head over to the Back Stage Tour. Problem was, just like June, it was hot. I didn't feel like being hot by doing an outside attraction. As we passed TSM I noticed that the line said 40 minutes. Wow - 40 minutes. That's like a walk-on for TSM. I asked DH if he wanted to just go in the stand by line. He said he didn't care, so in we went. The standby line is really cute. There is a lot to look at and I took pictures the whole time.....

I don't think these pictures even begin to do justice to how fun the queue is. It's very creative....very life like....very 3D!

Sept2009-Disney1413.jpg

So how long was the wait?????? 30 minutes. That's it. It may have even been a bit shorter. It moved rather quickly and with all the eye candy to look at, the time flew.

I didn't take a picture of my score. It know it wasn't all that great, but I had a fun time. I just wish my right hand didn't get so fatigued playing this game. Call me a wimp, but I have no wrist strength.

I took a few more pics after leaving the ride......

Excellent update, Mary Ellen. i noticed you're even smiling in at least one photo! Yay! :goodvibes

i'm glad you enjoyed your lunch at the Brown Derby, and only a 30 min standby for TSM, WoW! Awesome!

Mmmmm....I really enjoyed the Brown Derby!

I have never done the Little Mermaid attraction either. It is a must-do on our upcoming trip, though!

I can't wait to try TSM for the first time! I love all the pix of everything from the line!!! I am going to try to do a stand-by and FP so we can see all the fun!!!!

Can't believe we are already at your last dinner!!!! :sad2:

Great update!

I like the pictures of the little mermaid even if you aren't really sure how the show was!

30 minutes for TSM? That's mind boggling.

What a fun day so far, Drawing Pluto, Brown Derby, TSM, just great! I think it's funny you were trying to draw 2 Pluto's though! I really want do try this on our trip.

Sorry about Nicks game, fingers crossed for Brian!

Oooh, a F&W Soccer Mom trip!! :yay: Sounds like fun!

Great update too! Your Pluto turned out awesome!!! I want to try that sometime and see how awful mine turn out, it would make for a humorous TR update.

:woohoo: about TSM practically being a walk-on! Did you talk to the Mr. Potato Head?
