From Europe to Africa in America - A Sisters' Expedition

I love all the pictues. It really looks like you got to try a bit of everything that day. The two of you look so chilly though!

Hello Flossbolna!

Just stumbled in here and don't know how I'll ever catch up, but I at least wanted to sign your guestbook or something. You do have a guestbook, right?

Oh, well. At least you have funnel cake pictures. Mmmm...

And whenever I see a sign with a word like "Ye Olde", I pronounce the "e". Mostly to annoy my wife. :thumbsup2

Magdalene, this was a delightful update! :goodvibes The photos are wonderful, especially of you and Katharina. :)

I enjoyed the pics of nooks and crannies of the MK and found myself getting very excited about my trip, which is now only 3 days away. ::yes:: Kept saying out loud (yep, to self, no one in this room), "Oh, we must stop there, and go there, and see that shop". I've visited WDW about 40 times in 25 yrs, but it has been 2 yrs since my last trip, so very much looking forward to our 4 ngts (VWL)... which ends on Monday 11/22, my birthday, but we will be able to get a few hours in the MK that day...heavenly.

Sorry to go off on a tangent.:upsidedow

Anyway, we visited twice in February and both times were rainy, cold and raw - some days were a challenge, but we still had a fabulous trip.

Thanks for a great update! :thumbsup2

Reading along and enjoying every minute.

I "found " that bathroom by Pirates on my last trip. Never knew it was tucked back there.

I am a tile picture taker too! :rolleyes1

Can't wait to see which resort you go to but I will take a stab and say the Contemporary

Hi everyone!! I am getting closer to becoming a DVC owner!! I just got the notice that Disney passed on their right of first refusal for my contract. The last few days waiting to hear from them was really annoying... So, hopefully very soon I will own 150 DVC points at BWV with an August use year which works perfectly for me since I have no intention to spend the summer at WDW. Well, September would have been even better, but that's the nature of resale...

I am kind of thinking of about 2.5 weeks at WDW in late October to early November 2011. This would use up most of my 2010 and 2011 points (I have 148 from 2010 on this contract). I hope to get through closing quickly in order to start booking. I am thinking about arriving October, 26, 2010, so my booking window would open in 9 days! I am not expecting to be done with closing and being entered into the DVC system by then... :confused3 But that's ok, I am sill undecided what I want at BWV anyway: standard or Boardwalk view  Well, it might me no choice anyway, it looks like both categories book very fast during the F&WF. I will see and enjoy my vacation anyway...

I have a new update ready, but not much time tonight, so I hope to post it tomorrow!!

And everyone who has not made their guesses: YOU STILL HAVE UNTIL TOMORROW!!

Fabulous news!:banana::banana:

Now you can always be planning your next trip to Disney and we'll always have reports to read.

Okay, talk about being extremely late to the game!!!! I have SOOOOO much catching up to do, and already have put so many things together that somehow have escaped my feeble mind. Not sure how I could call anybody gullible, naive or any of those things. Anyway, made it in time to get in on this contest I guess, so I'm going to take a very uninformed guess that you were headed to Wilderness Lodge! Now, have to find the time to get caught up!

Thanks for the dancing bananas! I hope I will be able to finish this TR in time before my next trip!! :lmao:

Hi and :welcome: It does not matter that you are late, you will find out that I hadn't even realized at some point that you were not one of my readers! ;) But it is great that you finally found your way to my TR!! And take your time catching up, this here is moving at a snail's pace anyway! :goodvibes

Great news! I'm hoping for a trip in the late fall of 2011 as well :thumbsup2

Awesome News about DVC !!!!!:banana:I see Marv made it over here , let's hope he is around more here than on his own thread!!!:rotfl2:

Hey, it has really been hoppin' today! :yay: I guess that's what I get for believing you and Kathy when you threatened to take it over for me........ :rolleyes1

That's interesting! We have plenty of apples here in the US.Why do they need apples from all over the world??

I have no idea, but there are even four continents involved: North and South America, Europe and Asia.

Once again very nice photo's

Thanks! :goodvibes

One of my favorite rides!

one of my favourites in the MK as well! :thumbsup2

I LOVE funnel cakes! I only have one a year and that is during the Fourth of July along with a deep fried Snickers!

The powder sugar is what makes it so good though! mmmmmmmmm.... Next time just shake some off.

It wasn't bad, just a bit difficult to eat! :goodvibes But I guess it is one of those foods where half the fun of eating them is getting messy! :rotfl: And the deep fried Snickers sounds wonderful to me!! :cloud9:

The E is silent the only long E sound is in the Ye.

Thanks Wendy!

I hope she was able to find one on your trip!

I don't think she did - Katharina I need your input!!

I would like to say that MOST Americans are very patriotic. We love our country, you and Katharina need to be here during our countries independance day July 4th! Not in a big city but in rural America that is where I think you'll see the heart of the American people. You need to come celebrate with us down in Bellevue we go every year. ( I mean no disrespect to big city people please don't take it the wrong way we live in a big city but choose to be away during that time. )

I have thought for quite some time that I would love to experience July 4th in the USA at one time! I can imagine how small town celebrations would be different from a big city. When I was in New England in 2008 we came across a parade in a small town and it was so much fun to watch how the whole community got involved! :goodvibes

These are all cute, I like the last one best!

Yes, these are great! These are some pictures I am really glad that we got PP for! :thumbsup2

Yum! Best way to start the day-Mickey waffles.

Wonderful Photo Pass pictures. Looks like a much better morning in the MK with lost of rides. I really enjoy the Jungle Cruise with all the corny jokes but the skipper makes all the difference.

Yum Again! Funnel Cakes.

Liberty Square looks so empty. Where are all the people?

I always say I'm going to spend more time on Main Street but haven't yet. Someday. . .

Mickey waffles are wonderful and they are something I need to have for every WDW trip! This is one of the very few things which I don't like about BWV, there aren't any CS restaurants with waffles for breakfast... :confused3

I think the weather really emptied the park on that day, it was very uncrowded. But late January is very uncrowded anyway!

I really liked those PP pictures as well, these are some of the ones which made getting the CD worhtwile.

Sorry that you had a rainy afternoon, but it looks like you made the most of it.

Regarding the resort....I am going to guess

Got your guess! The rain wasn't so bad that day, at least it wasn't as cold as the day before. We had much more fun on our second MK day. :goodvibes

Lovely update! My favorite picture is the last one with you 2 "celebrating" in your ponchos.

Mmmm... time to make funnel cakes again! (As if Taco Bell wasn't enough daily calories today)

OK, I"m going to say:

Noted your guess! I really like this one as well! I had fun doing a few not so normal poses! It kind of really catches the essence of that day when we managed to have a lot of fun despite the rain! :thumbsup2

Ok, first a reply to the ninja posters! Wow, all this action going on today, I have not only one but several of them!!

Oh, well thanks a lot!!! :guilty:

You will know what I meant when you see it - and I meant it in a nice way! :goodvibes

Great news! I'm hoping for a trip in the late fall of 2011 as well :thumbsup2

Yes, I am really excited! I will keep an eye out for your future trip plans, would love to meet another UG-fan!

Awesome News about DVC !!!!!:banana:I see Marv made it over here , let's hope he is around more here than on his own thread!!!:rotfl2:

If I would not be way to polite to make fun at the expense of brand-new readers of my TR, I could say that he is around more on everyones elses thread than on his... :rolleyes1 But I would never say that!! :goodvibes

Hey, it has really been hoppin' today! :yay: I guess that's what I get for believing you and Kathy when you threatened to take it over for me........ :rolleyes1

Well, you see, it is hopping because you updated it! :thumbsup2

You will know what I meant when you see it - and I meant it in a nice way! :goodvibes
Just funnin' ya! I figured from the context that somewhere in this vast array of TRedness there is a reference either to me or about me that you thought I would see thinking I was already blessing your TR with my wittiness and devilish good looks!!! :lmao: Gives me something to look for while I'm getting caught up......
If I would not be way to polite to make fun at the expense of brand-new readers of my TR, I could say that he is around more on everyones elses thread than on his... :rolleyes1 But I would never say that!! :goodvibes
Well then, just what ARE you saying??? ;)
Well, you see, it is hopping because you updated it! :thumbsup2
THAT qualifies as an update??? Dang, if I had known that is all it takes, I would have UPDATED it sooner.......:rotfl2:

Hi Magdalina !!Great updates !!!As you know we did the Hall of presidents in October !!It's not a Favorite of mine but is okay!!!

I am gonna gues the resort as [

I know what you mean, I think! ;) And your guess is noted! :thumbsup2

I love all the pictues. It really looks like you got to try a bit of everything that day. The two of you look so chilly though!

We weren't really chilly, both of us were wearing two jackets and we were doing ok! I think we had hats and gloves with us that day but did not use them. It was warmer than the day before. But you know all about being cold at WDW! We were really pretty successful that morning. :thumbsup2

Hi Captain! :welcome: to my TR! It's great to have you along and don't worry about catching up, it took me 10 months to write the first half of the trip, so I am not really a fast mover with this TR-thing...

I am glad that there are people who pronounce the "e" because I think it sounds so funny to say it that way! I guess I will keep it then, even knowing that it's not correct... :goodvibes

I am afraid that there will not be any more funnel cake pictures coming, but there are lots of other great food pictures throughout this TR! :thumbsup2

Magdalene, this was a delightful update! :goodvibes The photos are wonderful, especially of you and Katharina. :)

Hi Christine, I am glad you enjoyed the update! I hope you have a fantastic trip to WDW, it sounds like a wonderful birthday treat!

Our biggest problem with the weather was when we weren't prepared for it. And I would have loved to have more time at the pool... But now I know that I will be back on a regular basis anyway! :goodvibes

Reading along and enjoying every minute.

I "found " that bathroom by Pirates on my last trip. Never knew it was tucked back there.

I am a tile picture taker too! :rolleyes1

Can't wait to see which resort you go to but I will take a stab and say

I think I read in your TR about how you found this bathroom? We also were surprised to find a bathroom behind the imagination pavillion in Epcot.

There are so many wonderful details at WDW that I find myself taking more and more pictures of these. They are great to look at after the trip!

And I noted your guess as well! :thumbsup2

:yay::yay: I am so excited for you regarding your DVC news:hug::hug: Especially after reading your post about two other contracts not going through for others  Regarding going at that time next year...my advice would be to try to go maybe a week earlier if you are going to stay that long. The only reason I say that is to be able to take full advantage of the F&W festival and somewhere in the beginning of November is what is called "Jersey Week." I went this past October 23-29...the weather was perfect and the crowds were very good, although the weekends at Epcot are generally busy at that time due to many locals enjoying the F&W. I am sure that I will be going again next October as this is really my favorite time of the year to go :goodvibes Also seeing that you will be staying for a longer stay, it may be fun to do a split stay...a week at BWV and a week at another resort :confused3

I had posted many pictures on my FB while I was in Disney (I am not good at doing and keeping up a TR ;)) and I meant to tell you that I :lovestruc CG. We were there right on time to see Hallowishes from the viewing area. The food and service was outstanding. One of my favorite meals of all time :) :thumbsup2 FF was better for me the first time I ate there. It was still delicious (I had the scallops) but there were other meals that I would put before it this time. It might have been because it was my last night and I was already feeling my Disney depression or our slow server who took forever to settle the bill. I remember waiting outside for my friends (I had left them cash and they were using credit cards) so that we could head over to Epcot so I could get my caramel apples to take home!!!

You had mentioned at one time why I prefer Kidani over Jambo....I guess for me I like the smaller, homey feel of the Kidani lobby in comparison to the louder, busier Jambo lobby. The rooms in Kidani are a bit bigger (I think :confused3) and when I have stayed in a 1 br...the bathroom is HUGE and has a separate walk in shower that is not available in Jambo. The walk to Jambo is ~ 7 minutes max and so I have always had a chance to visit Mara and Boma....

My guess for your resort visit is Port Orleans I have no idea why but after much thinking this is what I came up with :rotfl2:

Exciting news Magdalene!:dance3::yay::cheer2: Wow 2.5 weeks at Disney lucky duck! Will Katharina be joining you in October?

THAT qualifies as an update??? Dang, if I had known that is all it takes, I would have UPDATED it sooner.......:rotfl2:

Yes, writing a PTR is much easier than a TR! You just skribble down some of your thoughts about your trip and it counts as an update! :thumbsup2

I am really looking forward to start my next PTR, they are a lot of fun as well. :goodvibes

:yay::yay: I am so excited for you regarding your DVC news:hug::hug: Especially after reading your post about two other contracts not going through for others  Regarding going at that time next year...my advice would be to try to go maybe a week earlier if you are going to stay that long. Yes, I know about Jersey Week, it is later next year (the 10th and the 11th are going to be the days of the conference, hence the one with the largest crowds), but I am working around my birthday on the 6th (Sunday) and I don't want to have to leave the day after my birthday! So at the moment I am thinking I will just have to cope with the last few days of my trip being a bit more crowded... And travelling later would then make a 2012 trip with the same AP in the middle of October a good idea. :woohoo: Since I am going to have these points to spend, I will have to return regularly!

I am thinking about a split stay, but then I am also afraid that I might be dissappointed that I have to move and miss the other resort... I still have some time to make a decision on that, though...

Would be fun to meet you if you happen to be in WDW at the same time as me next year!

Need to check out your FB pictures! Sounds like you had a great meal at CG! I think it is a great way to experience the party fireworks where you would have to pay extra to see them from the park. :thumbsup2 So what other meals were better than FF? I always have a hard time with my last evening meal at WDW as well. I seem to enjoy it a little bit less as well... But taking forever to settle the bill is annoying. :headache:

Since I won't get a 1br I think I will be fine with the Jambo layout! I have stayed at AKL three times now and really love Jambo house, including the busy lobby. :goodvibes But I can see your point. One of the resorts I am considering for next year is actually AKV, but I think my preference would be a standard view studio at Jambo since those are all pool view and I loved my pool view rooms in the past and they cost less points than savanna view. :goodvibes

My guess for your resort visit is
I have no idea why but after much thinking this is what I came up with :rotfl2:

Tracy

Ok, I noted your guess! :thumbsup2

Great news!! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you that everything works out okay. Late October would be a fantastic time of year for a visit. My parents went that week a few years ago and had beautiful weather, and no crowds at all. They loved it.

If you have the points for it, I'd definitely try for a Boardwalk view, especially if your going to be there long enough to enjoy sitting out on your balcony people watching. On the other side though, some of the rooms on the pool side have Epcot view where you can watch the fireworks at night. You really can't go wrong either way.
