Hello Hungry Dis'ers!!! :wave2:

I just got back from a Fantastic Food & Wine trip and wanted to share the delectable bites with you! :goodvibes

A little background....I have wanted to do F&W, like.....forever...but my family (DH, myself and our two girls) go to Disney once a year and have to go at a time that doesn't interfere with school (so, not F&W time). :sad2:

The family and I had our annual trip in April this year and two weeks after getting back, DH surprised me with the news that I was going on a return trip for F&W and MNSSHP!!!! :dance3::woohoo:

I wasn't traveling alone...I went down with my BFF and it was a completely great 5n/6d girls' trip. We stayed at POFQ from 9/27 - 10/2.

So, without further ado....
THE FOOD PORN!!! :cheer2:
 
So, our flight landed around 4:45 in Orlando. We had dinner reservations at Raglan Road for 7:10, which we made in plenty of time.

We were seated right next to the smaller stage in the middle of the floor. It was LOUD there!!!

Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We got the standard soda bread with the Guinness reduction.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, because I HATE Guinness! but this did not taste like Guinness. It was very sweet and pretty flavorful. The soda bread was pretty boring so the interesting dip was a necessity.

For my entree. I ordered the serious steak.

So, I love steak, and this was okay....nothing mind blowing. The sauce that they cook it in was sort of like the Guinness reduction, and maybe it was...I didn't pay attention to the menu too much.

I would probably try something else next time.

The first item at Food & Wine that I got was in Brazil. I got the Crispy Pork Belly with Black Beans, Onions, Avocado & Cilantro.

So, in all honesty, the words PORK BELLY kind of gross me out. By far, I am not a vegetarian but it just sounds so nasty, but I love BACON and figured this had to be pretty close. I expected it to be really fatty. It was not! It was meaty, and smoky and delicious!! The flavors from the onions and avocado totally completed this dish! The black beans, which I don't normally prefer, were sooooo good! Absolute winner!!!

I think I might try the pork belly, Bob said he'd take te pork belly I can have the beans :rotfl2: Darn picky eater he does not eat beans except baked beans and raw green beans :confused3
 
Oooooh MY!

Was that pork belly cooked to a crisp? Ashamed as I am to admit, I do love munching on some crisp pork fat. :blush: :rotfl2:

Great start. I love pork belly and, yes, it can be fatty but if it is cooked properly and the fat rendered nicely, it can be super delicious.

This was soooo good. I will absolutely start ordering this at other establishments now. :)
 
OK, moving right along....next stop: ARGENTINA where I got the Beef Empanada

This was a really nice serving size, and I apologize for not getting a pic of the inside, but this was good! It was filled with ground beef, onions and other seasonings. It was basically a taco pocket but tasty! :goodvibes

In Mexico, I got the Taco de Rib-Eye with Salsa de Chipotle

This was super delicious! The meat was marinated very well and was very tender. There was quite a kick of heat from this dish, which I loved because I love spicy food! :lovestruc
 
Did they have the same kind of food booths at Flower and Garden as they did at the Food and Wine Festival?

Ok, so what might have been my favorite dish the whole trip was from China. It was the Black Pepper Shrimp with Sichuan Noodles

This was AH-MAZING!!!!!! So delicious! The shrimp had a nice crunch on the outside and was so perfectly seasoned and cooked. I really wanted to get it again but never made it back because I was always so full. There were so many noodles though and this was like a full meal. So wish I could have this again! :cloud9:
