From Contemporary to Epcot

Is there a bus from Contemporary to Epcot or do you have to take the monorail, which seems very inefficient because you have to line up and wait for two different monorails.

You could walk over to MK and get the Epcot bus. With the monorail you only have to go one stop to TTC and then transfer to Epcot monorail. I believe you get screened at the hotel so you skip the screening at Epcot so that saves some time.

Just a reminder the Park to Park buses don't start running until 10 AM. They are not running before parks open or even at park opening.

Yes you are screened once at the CR on the 4th floor before heading up to the Monorail platform and you make the switch to the Epcot Monorail beam by walking down the ramp at the TTC and back up the Epcot ramp.

There would only be a bus if the monorail is down.

Its really not that bad. IMO its more relaxing/less stressful than waiting for a bus and hoping there's room especially since the buses at Contemporary go to Wilderness Lodge first for both pick up and drop off.
Plus then you don't have to go through security at EPCOT which while its better than it used to be its still not great.

When we last stayed at the Contemporary, we would board the monorail and take it to the TTC which is the next stop. You go through security screening at the Contemporary and once at the TTC you are already past their screening area. As I recall you walk up/down one ramp and the up/down another. Very convenient and the capacity of the monorail is fairly large compared to a bus.

Bus as others mentioned is only used as a back-up method if the monorail happens to be down.

IMO going it's no big deal - just one stop to the TTC transfer, you're excited for the day ahead, etc. Plus the whole arrival route through Epcot is half way an Epcot ride in and of itself. For as old as they are and a lot of negative press the monorails sometimes get, they are fully operational/functional on both lines more often than not with minimal waits for the next train, so the system when running property works well.

Getting back from Epcot to CR is a tad less desirable as once you transfer at the TTC you have stops at Poly, GF, MK, then CR. By that point you're usually tired, done with your day, and just want to be back, so all the stops 'feel' a little annoying. It's really not that bad, but I'll occasionally take a Minnie Van or rideshare back if I'm looking to save a bit of time and just be back home.

There is no EPCOT bus from Magic. You have to take the monorail.

Just to point out, if the Express monorail is still running, you could transfer to that at TTC and either walk to CR (I know, end of the day, tired, who wants more walking) or transfer to the resort monorail at the MK stop. No idea if this is any faster.

I'm one of the few who actually prefer the buses, I know minority. I refuse to stay in a sky liner resort or a monorail resort unless nothing else is available. I will take the monorail occasionally from MK to Epcot since some of the time they have the pass through thing open and you don't have to go down the ramp and back up another one but try to avoid it if I can. Usually, I'll grab a bus from MK to one of the Epcot resorts and go in the back gate of Epcot. It's weird I know.
