We biught in last year after our first family trip down there. It was kind of a whim we were miserable at the Pop but so very happy and excited to be at WDW we knew we were going to make a yearly thing. So we bought. I was starting to think did we make the right choice, was it worth it, the deals are so much better now, and well really second guessing it. Well we stayed at AKL Kidani in a 1bd savannah view room from 12-19 to 12-26 and all I can say is it was worth every single penny.

The room, the view and the resort were amazing. I've never met so many friendly people before. The staff were amazing. Everytime we walked by anyone, they would all stop and chat with my kids. My kids learned so much and enjoyed every single second of it. The room which I was scared would be too small for my family of 5 was a perfect fit. I LOVEd coming home to see all the animals right there. One night we had 3 zebra sleeping right below our balcony. While we were the second to the last room on our floor and it was a WALK to the lobby we never minded it at all. We actually discovered quickly that it was just as easy to walk from Jambo as it was from the lobby. Plus I didn't have to remind my children to keep their voices down in the hallway. They could skip and jump to their content while walking outdoors. I loved the fact that the lobby was even really really quiet. When Stitch and Santa were there there was never a line.

We were going to add on at SSR but I think DH is now even excited to add on at AKL again. The kids want to try other resorts but said they would be perfectly content if we only stayed at AKL.

We had such a magical time that we are canceling our trip to Vegas in March and going back to WDW to celebrate our 10th anniversary. DH is even ok with probably letting our DPs that we deposited into RCI go just so we can go back. We may not stay at AKL but I will be going back sooner then Dec 2010!!!

So glad you feel that way after your first visit. We have our first visit home coming up in feb and can't wait! We did a long weekend in oct for DS's bday in oct and loved it. We stayed in a studio and will be staying in one in feb but upgrading to a 1br for our july and oct trips. I think that is going to seal the deal that we need more points to always stay in a 1 br.

Great post! Sometimes we veteran DVCers can get caught up in finding small issues that are less than perfect. It is so refreshing to be reminded of just how special the DVC experience really is. Hope you will always love your DVC as much as you do today.

I thought the same as you after staying at my 1st DVC resort. But, after having visited 3 now, I found that other resorts were pretty cool as well. Our plan is to visit them all before we consider doing a re-sale. We are set for AKL in June and are excited. Glad you enjoyed it as well.

Hi Vickis3js,
Thank you for your trip report and for sharing your experience. Being a DVC member really is a wondeful thing. I find it creates a whole different vacation experience. Every time I stay at a DVC resort I remember why I bought in and that it was one of the best decisions we made.

As others mentioned it is refreshing to hear a new members thoughts and excitement. Remember your 1st trip always and get ready to create many more wonderful years of memories. :goodvibes
