Frito-Lay snacks to be featured in Disney parks
BURBANK, Calif., Oct 10 (Reuters) - Walt Disney Co. <DIS.N> on Thursday said it has entered a multiyear pact with Frito-Lay for its snacks to be featured at Disney's Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort, including naming rights to some attractions.
Under the agreement, Lay's potato chips, Cheetos cheese puffs, Doritos and other Frito-Lay snacks will be sold at restaurants and food kiosks throughout Disney's domestic theme parks, Disney said in a statement. Frito-Lay is the largest unit of Purchase, New York-based PepsiCo Inc. <PEP.N>. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Frito-Lay will also sponsor park attractions including California Screamin' in Disney's California Adventure and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water at Walt Disney World, Burbank, California-based Disney said.
Plano, Texas-based Frito-Lay also gets naming rights to the baseball stadium at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex, home to the Atlanta Braves spring training and double-A Orlando Rays. The stadium will be renamed Cracker Jack Stadium, Disney said.
The pact comes weeks after Coca-Cola Co. <KO.N>, PepsiCo's top drinks rival, said its Dasani brand would become the exclusive bottled water sold at Disney's U.S. parks and resorts. That move came about 18 months after Coca-Cola entered into a global alliance with Disney to market a new line of noncarbonated children's juices, juice drinks and other beverages.
It's kind of funny that Coca-Cola is letting them give Pepsi an "in".
