Friends, Wishes & Treats Oct WDW Trip ~ ~Aloha! HI cruise TR is complete!

Love the picture of you and Megan. I had to pop over and read your TR after seeing the layouts you have been posting. Glad you enjoyed the trip and can't wait to see and hear the rest!

Cassey

Hi dear friend, as you know, the DIS ate my last post with the tribute to Jim and I have no other excuse for not signing in over here recently.

You are really cranking out this TR and I am LOVING IT!!! The picture of you and Megan really hit me hard because I was thinking the same thing you posted about Jim not being there. I actually could see him right there in the middle with you all.:hug: I am sorry you have to have far to many firsts without him. I don't even want to imagine what that feels like my brave friend. Seems like you all had some grumps on the trip...and I am NOT talking about your family! What is up with staff not going out of their way to treat you all well??? :furious: (I have wanted to use that since Andrea posted it on our TR)!

Enjoy your laundry/PJ day!!!

yah, seems like it ate lots of post this past week :furious:

just trying to get it done when the boards are cooperating :thumbsup2

I felt him throughout the trip, especially when we were by the ocean :goodvibes

yah, had a few grumps ....I did give them my feedback when they sent me a survey after we got home...unfortunately I didn't take down the peoples names....I like this little guy :furious: happy they moved him to the first page...but they need to get rid of the smoking one :(

laundry is going....off to post our Kauai days...stay tuned!

today we had nothing planned...which I know regret a lot...Kauai was the most "hawaiian" of all the islands ....just means we will have to visit again some day....

we all met for breakfast at the buffet and talked about what to do, they had free shuttles to the beach and shopping so we got our stuff together and headed over to the Nawiliwili Bay...they had a little shopping area we looked around at and then headed over to the beach....Megan, mom and I didn't go swimming, just enjoyed the scenery

we got in line for the buffet....had of course the pork, chicken, a couple salads, sweetpotatoes, rice and of course poi....no of us liked it though

P1110508.jpg

....at our tables we got fresh pineapple and green salad and bread....desserts had a pineapple upside down cake, cookies and a lime cheesecake...plus a free bar which us grown ups enjoyed....unfortunately some other passengers REALLY enjoyed it and got quite drunk :rotfl:

after dinner the show started.....I did take photos, but they kept changing the lighting so I finally gave up....knew they had a package of the photos to sell on the ship so I got those which I will post next....

we got back on our bus and headed home and to bed!

Our last day on Kauai we stayed on the ship, slept in and had breakfast ....I did get our packing done for the most part then headed up to the pool deck to relax and swim...the ship left port at 2pm and then cruised along the Na Pali coast...so beautiful and we saw 4 or 5 baby humpbacks whales, but never got a photo of them....

was a bit windy where we were standing

there's a humpback right there...do you see it???

after we got done with the cruise by we went back to swimming for a bit then got cleaned up for dinner yet again at the buffet and went to see the show....was so cheesy :rotfl: "rock - a - hula " theme set to of course Elvis music, couldn't take photos of it though...after the show went back to our cabin and finished packing, put our luggage out and went to bed!

we had to get up early the next day to disembark by 8 am for our Pearl Harbor tour....will get that posted soon, need to get back to laundry and make some lunch!

thanks my sweet friend :goodvibes

you bet I did, bad customer service is a huge pet peeve of mine

Hi Lisa, First off, I want to thank you for your condolences for Billy's sister.

I finally got a chance to go back and read and look at all your pictures of your cruise around the Hawaiian islands! How nice of your mom to treat the whole family to this wonderful cruise. Love seeing the tribute in sand that you and Megan do for Jim so he's a part of your trips!

Seeing all your pictures reminds me of the trip I took with my sister about 30 years ago and did the 4 island tour. We flew to each island and rented a car. My favorite island was Kauai because of all the beautiful flowers and they had the mini looking Grand Canyon (forgot the name). Got to go to a luau too and didn't like the poi either! When we stayed in Hilo, we had a visitor in our room that scared us :scared1:! We saw something run up the wall and hide behind a picture. We didn't know what it was and called the front desk. Someone came to the room and told us that the geekos where everywhere and that they wouldn't hurt us. We made sure we always closed up our luggage when we needed to get something out. We didn't want to bring home one of those.

Glad you and Megan had a wonderful time and hope you get to go back and do more of a land tour too.

Hi Gail, thank you for taking the time to stop by.....my heart goes out to you all

We will definately be going back some day and enjoy a whole island! instead of being rushed through.....was a very wonderful treat from mom and we did have a great time!
we did see a few geeko's around, but they never bothered us!
can't remember the canyon name, but we loved cruising along the NaPali coast, was so beautiful!

Our last morning on the ship! we ordered room service, finished packing our carry ons and headed to wait for our disembarkation time to be called!
found our luggage and got on the bus!

we would be visiting the entire Pearl Harbor memorial sites and then a bit of a tour around Honolulu before heading back to the airport!

this tour has some personal meaning to us.....my dad's cousin was on the Utah in Pearl Harbor and he had saved 4 of his fellow crew from the fire's and when my dad graduated from high school the following year he joined the Army and fought in Europe.

we got to visit the sites for the Oklahoma memorial, tour on the Missouri and then out to the Arizona memorial

we then got a tour of a bit of town

we arrived at the airport about 430, got checked in quickly...well most of us, Joe and Buffy luggage were all over the weight limit and they had to repack into one of their lighter pieces....took over 30 minutes, then they all got searched going through security, another 20 minute wait, due to Buffy having a jar of sand in her carry-on.....luckily our flight didn't leave until 9pm!

after everyone got through, then had to decide where to eat, yay for a food court! we ate and got to the gate about 3 hours before hand, found a comfy spot to wait it out we put our feet up, some took naps and we took turns taking the kids off to explore!

got on the plane and as soon as we reached 10,000 feet, Megan and I put our seats back and got some sleep....some of the others slept too! we arrived back in Seattle at 530 am, got our luggage, shuttled to the cars, said our good-byes and drove my mom home, dropped her off and we got home at 730 am! unloaded the car and collapsed on the couch for the day!

was Easter Morning and the bunny left a little something for Megan

was good to be home!

Thanks for reading along on our Hawaiian Adventure!!!

Aloha!

All caught up my friend! I guess you wouldn't respond to my text message so I would have to stop here. Love all the Hawai'i updates. Stopped on the side of the road years ago to take a picture of the sign for the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Farm.

Especially love the Pearl Harbor pics. We did a cruise of the harbor that went very close to the Arizona Memorial, but did not get the chance to go on it. Wish we had done that one! Very special to me too since my Dad served in the Navy in the Pacific during WWII. His ship was anchored in Tokyo Bay also when the Surrender was signed on the Missouri.

I have to catch up yet, but the pictures i saw are BEAUTIFUL!! YOu always take the best photos. SO jealous. Can't wait to get a few minutes to go back and catch up!

Lisa, I am trying to catch up on your TR. For some reason most of the pictures are showing up as a red x. But the ones I can see are fabulous!

As a reader and friend I can sense Jim's presence with you also. Your tributes are very touching.

I recognize the Star Wars lego swim trunks. My son use to have them too!

The Mariott looks like a beautiful resort! Nice BIG Koi pond too.

All the Laua and Pearl Harbor pics are red x's to me, but I'm sure they are great! Funny about the Rollers, never heard a hot dog called that.

Glad the Bunny made it to your house too!
