Sunday 27th October

Today was our first sea day and, surprisingly for this early in the holiday, I slept until 7. So did Gary, although I am pretty sure he would have liked to sleep later. Once we were up and dressed, we left the room and peeked in on the kids, who were both sleeping. We decided to leave them to it. After scribbling a note on the dry-wipe board, we headed upstairs to Cabanas.

It was a glorious morning so, after loading my plate with goodies, I found a table outside in the early morning sunshine.

Gary had his usual cruise breakfast of low fat granola.

It really was going to be a beautiful day.

Before long we were joined by Rich. I wasted no time in asking (grilling) him about Wendy’s involvement in the mystery gift bags delivered the night before.

“Oh, I got one of those too” replied Rich unconvincingly.

When I look back now, believe it or not, I remember this moment as one of the highlights of our cruise. It was so peaceful, sitting out looking over the ocean, chatting with Gary and Rich. I felt completely relaxed for the first time in a long, long time. I could have happily stayed there all day. Still, we had a full day at sea ahead of us and lots of exciting things planned so we reluctantly bid farewell to Rich. We decided to go back downstairs to see if the kids were awake. Sian was up and dressed but Daniel was still sleeping. We left him a message, with instructions on how to use the wave phone to call us when he was awake, and went back up to Cabanas with Sian, who was dying for some breakfast. I would like to say that I refrained from eating more but, having spotted Krispy Kremes on the way out earlier, I decided to treat myself – I am on holiday after all.

Breakfast finished, we decided to go and check out the adult only pool, taking some photos along the way.

I even took a crafty (camera over the private entrance gate) picture of the concierge sun deck. It looked very nice but it always seemed to be empty whenever we passed.

We ended up on Deck 13, at Satellite Falls. This really was my favourite area on the ship, it was so relaxing.

From the very front of the ship, we could see down into the private outside area for the teen club.

Around Satellite Falls there are plexiglass screens, providing some shelter from the wind. The other side of the screens, it was a little blowy.

We grabbed some loungers and sat down to relax. Sian hadn’t brought her Kindle with her so decided to go and get it. She then called to say that Daniel was awake so she was going to take him to get some breakfast. It was gone 11, we couldn’t believe he had slept so late.

Wendy and Rich arrived and we spent some time chatting about our various plans for the day. Wendy was even less convincing than Rich when questioned about the mystery gift bags and we soon confirmed that she was our secret gift-bringer. Thank you Wendy :flower3:

Sian called to say Daniel had finished breakfast and wanted to go swimming so we said we would meet them down by the family pools. I didn’t want to swim as it would mean needing to do my hair again before Mixology. Sian wasn’t bothered about swimming either, so Gary and Daniel stayed by the pool and Sian and I decided to explore the ship a little and try out the Midship Detective Agency. Daniel, having been wanting to try it himself, was torn but decided to stay and swim, making us promise we wouldn’t do the ‘Case of the Missing Puppies’ mystery without him.

We accidentally went to Deck 4 instead of 5 so we took the opportunity to get some pictures while it was fairly quiet. The lobby area and the chandelier hanging from the high ceiling is just beautiful.

This is also where you will find the statue of Minnie, looking resplendent in bronze.

And just around the corner, the beautifully detailed mosaic of Cinderella’s carriage.

Up on Deck 5, it didn’t take long to sign up to become Midship Detectives.

Jack-Jack’s Diaper Dash, a crawling race for babies, was just about to start in the lobby so we stopped to watch. We were joined by Char and Nate, had a brief chat, and then set off to solve the Case of the Stolen Paintings. The game was fun but it really is aimed at children. It was fun watching the pictures change and become animated but, after the first few, the novelty wore off a little. I called Gary to see where he was and he told me that Daniel had met up with Abby and they had also gone to do the Detective Agency, so he had gone back up to Satellite Falls. I told him we would finish up and meet him up on Deck 11 for lunch. Just as we were leaving, who should we run into.

I told Daniel that we were going to get some lunch and to meet us on Deck 11 when he and Abby were done.

Upstairs, we found Gary, who had already eaten. I wasn’t particularly hungry so decided to have some chicken strips.

Sian paid a visit to the buffet.

Just as were finishing lunch, Daniel arrived and got a couple of pieces of pizza. Then we went down to the room so Gary and I could get ready for Mixology. Sian and Daniel were going to have a look around the shops, then go to the arcade.

Back at our stateroom, I found an envelope tucked into our ‘fish’. Inside was a card from some of our fellow FB group, thanking me for organising the Mixology sessions. A lovely thought and very much appreciated.

We both got washed and changed, before heading down to Europa where the Mixology Class was being held in Skyline.

Lovely start to the day, I love days at sea. Off to read about the Mixology class now :)

I love the photo of you by the mosaic Joh! Looking forward to reading about the Mixology class :goodvibes

What a lovely start to the day
I love sea days!
Can't wait to read about the mixology session as I'm setting up a private session for our cruise so am interested to hear how it worked out :thumbsup2

Greta pics and the buffet food looks lovely :)

Although Amanda would be shuddering at being confined in a Disney themed ship (she's already grumpy about a character buffet we're going to in June! ;) ) she would cheer up at the sight of that seafood! :thumbsup2
