What advantages can i get with this pass? Is it just a deduction off the food bill in cafes etc?

If your friend, the shareholder, isn't present, you won't be able to use the shareholders card at all I'm afraid - because every time you use it, a CM manager is called over and they will ask you for some sort of photo ID to back up that the name on the shareholders card is you.

I'm a shareholder but have never used my card yet as it didn't arrive in time for our last trip.

If the CM manager needs to see photo ID, would my Dream AP be acceptable or does it need to be a passport?

yes, your Dream Pass is fine as ID :). I didn't take my expired AP with me on our trip in Feb, but luckily I had my photo driving licence with me in my purse, so I used that when asked for ID.

When I was there in March I was asked for Photo ID each time I used my Shareholder Card. Your friend will have to pay for things for you.

If you try and use the card without the Shareholder being present the cards are now being confiscated by the CMs.

I used my passport as ID as I don't yet have an annual pass. On our last day, I distracted DD so that DH could pick up and pay for something she had really wanted in the shops and we were getting secretly as a surprise for her birthday in June. Gave him the cash and the shareholder's card and sent him off.

He came back to find me as the CM would not let him use the card without me being present. So we had to do a quick swap (given that DD has eyes in the back of her head and we were already acting like would be shoplifters in trying to hide the gift!) and I went off to use the card and prove it was mine and I was me!

That's good to hear, I don't like carrying my passport around with me in case it gets lost or pinched! :rotfl:

They'll ask you for photo ID in Salon Mickey if you are staying off site and don't have an AP - if are onsite and have a ticket with your name on, they won't.
BUT if you are caught using a shareholder's card who isn't in DLP with you, they will confiscate it and the person who lent it to you will loose their Club membership. It's forbidden to lend it I'm afraid.

I've never been asked for ID.

Neither were we on our earlier trips but on the last two in 2011 and 2012 we had to show ID every time we used our cards. I'm glad they've tightened up on this - on an earlier thread where we were discussing shareholders club membership it was reported that there's terrible abuse of membership perks.

I've never been asked for ID.

I have been asked for the past few visits over the years, I don't mind either as mentioned it will cut down on the abuse of the system.

I think they will be hot on it now seeing as the rules have changed to become members and several will not renew

I never carry photo I'd with me, have only just got around to swapping my driver's licence to a photo one ! I assume that would be ok, not keen on carrying my passport with me. Must remember to take it with me.
I've never been asked for ID wondering if it's because I usually use my debit card to pay in shops and restaurants ?

Yes, it'll be fine, we always use our photo driving licences as ID. I haven't driven for years but still keep up my photo DL as it's so useful for ID both in the UK and abroad as I hate having to carry passports around and prefer to keep them locked in the safe.

You may well be right about them checking the names on the cards as we pay with cards 99% of the time and it's only on the last two trips we've been asked for ID. Nowadays with virtually everywhere using chip n pin there's no guarantee that people aren't 'borrowing' cards either hence the need for photo ID.

I'd say since last year (2012) they've really starting tightening up on showing photo ID with your shareholders card. Last June I was asked a couple of times when using my shareholders card, in Feb this year that was up to most of the time.

I have used APs in the past for photo ID, but photo driving licence is perfectly acceptable too.

I've never been asked either, but I'm glad they do most, as it would seem. It's abuse of the system that has led to the drastic increase in shares needed to be a member.

We were told it was well in excess of a million Euros per year was being lost due to Shareholder card abuse at the Round Table meeting.

I've never been asked either Steve, but I do agree with you :goodvibes

Our last trip was December 2012 and even this trip not once were we asked for ID apart from the shareholders lounge (never ever have been anywhere before).

Perhaps they have increased the measures, but i'll find out in June :dance3:

Have just renewed my membership today, and they now ask for a photo to be uploaded.. possibly to put on the new cards?
