Fridge in room

We will be staying at all stars and will be asking for a fridge nad microwave. Should we call ahead of time or wait till check in? Rather have it waiting for us since we will do our food shopping before we check in. Thansk

Hi, I'll be at ASMo in November, and you can
REQUEST a fridge, but that is all it is, a request.
There is no guarantee they will have one available.

There are no microwaves sent to rooms,
but you may use the one in the Food Court,
as well as their toaster there, too.

There are several places that rent stuff like fridges,
including A Baby's Best Friend - the link is
somewhere in the threads on this board -
and they are much cheaper than the resorts.

You may (or may not) want to search on
microwaves & toasters 'in room' - lots of
opinions on that, friend!

You may just want to use an ice chest and refill the ice each day instead of getting the refrigerator. They are not very big and the freezer is non-existent.

Use the food court microwave so you won't have to worry about setting on the room smoke detector.

If the fridge is needed for a medical reason - they will guarantee one. When we stayed at ASMu last August they actually had to bring one in from another resort. Also, there is no charge if one is needed for medical reasons.

For a long time all fridges for medical reasons were free, but ufortunately it started to become a problem (everyone who wanted a fridge needed it for medical reasons) and so Disney started charging everyone for a fridge no matter what the reason. More recently, they have gone back to not charging for medical reasons, but people report that there are three different kinds of fridges.

One is the standard size dorm fridge with the little freezer, one is a smaller, thin fridge with no freezer and room to put maybe a single row of pop cans and the last one is the size of a shoebox (which is perfect for medications). According to what we were told the last time we stayed at WDW, which size you get depends completely on what the resort has available when you arrive.
