I have a question. I have paided the extra $15.00 a night for an extra adult in the room. My question is - Is there any way to get a cot in the room? Do they even have a cot to use? I have a 36 years old brother with Downs Syndrome and a 6 years old son that can not share a bed. But my brother can not stay alone in a room either.

Any suggestions? Thanks! :confused3

They used to have cots, but there were a limited number of them and you wouldn't be guaranteed one. But I'm pretty sure I read that when they refurbed the rooms and upgraded to queen sized beds, there wasn't enough room for a cot any longer.

ETA: I checked the portorleans.org website and confirmed there that cots are no longer available due to the queen beds being added. Here's a link to that page: http://www.portorleans.org/faqs.php#Five The answer is under the section about can 5 people stay in a Mansions room at POR, but it also addresses the no cots issue at POFQ.

We brought an inflatable twin mattress to POFQ and it fit between the door and bed. During the day, we propped it against the wall. We brought a fitted sheet, but mousekeeping brought sheets and a blanket.

The mattress and pump fit into a small duffle bag and dh used it as his carry on for the plane.

If you stay in the Port Orleans Riverside, the Alligator Bayou section has a trundle bed and 5 can stay per room.

Since the refurb at POR and POFQ with queen beds, they no longer have rollaways because they won't fit in the room.

You can ship or bring a twin size air mattress which can prop up against the wall during the day.

Or you can book preferred at POR and get the third bed; but you also lose a lot of storage space, IMHO.

Your best bet is to stick to POFQ, the smaller resort, which would be much more manageable and use an air mattress.

We have a similar situation next year; me, a good friend, her 18 year old daughter and 14 year old son. I get one queen bed, they share the second and the son will sleep on the air mattress.

CBR - has rooms which are 340 sq ft - compared to all other moderates at 314 sq ft... the extra 26 sq ft allow for a twin blow-up bed or cot.
Also there are 5 drawers in the dresser and another larger draw under the bench. 2 sinks to use in the bathroom too !

You may be able to request a preferred room without being charged for the location because of your brother's situation.

Take a letter with you to WDW, from the doctor outlining the medical condition.
Also go to Guest Service when you arrive at WDW, and get a special needs pass. If your brother can not stand on long lines or in crowds, WDW CM's will accommodate your brother getting on a ride or in a show.
Guest Service may also recommend rides and show which would be good for your brother.

Why not try the CBR resort ?
