I noticed on the menu at Allears.net that french fries isn't listed on the Captain Cooks menu. Has anyone gotten fries there? My 19 month won't be happy if not! :goodvibes

They don't serve fries there, instead it's kind of like a potato chip. I forget what they are made out of, but I liked them, my DH did not.

You can get Polynesian chips or some sort of cole slaw with your CS meal, but no fries. Just like the PP, I really liked the chips but DH didn't care for them at all. All in all, we both really enjoyed our lunch there...we both had the Aloha Pork sandwich and DGD had the grilled cheese, all of us had Dole Whips for dessert.

Ok, we may have to take a monorail trip to the CR for a fry run!!

When I stayed at the Polynesian and went to Captain Cook's in December 2007 they did have French Fries on their menu, you just need to look in the side items section when making your order.

I enjoy seeing you on threads CR Resort Fan 4 Life! You always have great information! Thanks because I could have sworn I'd gotten fries here too!

They've didnt have french fries there in 2009 when we slipped away from the MK for a nice quiet lunch.

But we liked the potato chips. If not its a short monorail ride to GF or CR to use their CS places:)

Thanks everyone. Anyone had fries lately? Do they have them by the pool? How are the chips? They look really thick - not sure if my toddler can handle them if they are too hard and dense. I, for one, love the kettle type chips. That is what they look like by pics I have seen. Are they like that?

We stayed at the Poly back in February this year and they most certainly had fries as a side. They also had the chips that were mentioned above. The fries were a side...additionally, they count as a snack on the DDP.

There's a restaurant at WDW that serves taro chips? Is it Captain Cook's? Where can I find this wonderful place?

Captain Cooks is at the Polynesian. You could just hop on the monorail from the MK and be there in just a few minutes! It is nice to get a break from the hustle and bustle of the parks!

I was on the Poly thread on the resorts board and a poster who was at WDW last week took pictures of Captain Cooks. In one of the pictures there is a tray of food and clearly there were french fries on the tray. Anyway, I thought it was funny and that the OP might want to see. They look to be standard fries.:)

Found it: see this post (4th picture).

The chips served at Captain Cooks, in my opinion, would be too hard for a smaller child. They are pretty thick. I love them myself - I dip them into the packs of sweet and sour sauce they have on the condiment table--yummy!
