Thankfully we all felt OK when we woke up, so for the first time ever we made it to the park for opening!
We arrived to a quieter park - yippee, and decided to head for Discoveryland as I really wanted to try out Buzz. The aim was to fastpass it - but there was no queue so we walked straight on
Well what can I say except we LOVED IT!! I got 19k, pitiful compared to most of you on here I know, but it was my first time! When we got off I said to DH (who is normally v competitive) - 'oh I beat you!'. He then claimed not to know what I was talking about and said he didn't even know there was a score
We immediately fastpassed it as the queues were starting to build up. Autopia didn't look too bad and I had always wanted to go on that too, so we joined the queue. After 10 mins or so we were in the 'final strait' when disaster - the ride had to be closed as it had broken down
The girls were not happy...by the time we made our way out of the queue it was time for another Buzz ride though which cheered them up. This time DH took a LOT of notice of the scores
The girls had been desperate since August to get signatures from the princesses, but the queues in the summer were ridiculous. As the park seemed a bit quieter, we headed into Fantasyland to try our luck-and they finally got one, Jasmine's:
At the same time DH had noticed a small queue forming opposite and we spotted Donald out meeting and greeting. We jumped onto the end of the queue and the girls had their second meet of the day
They love the whole autograph thing so they were very happy at this point!
As so many of you had recommended the Lion King show, we planned to grab an early lunch in the Hyperion and watch it from there. This worked out well, and was a welcome respite from the freezing cold weather! Hot chocs all round, we settled back to watch the show. It was very impressive.
We still hadn't made it to the Studio Park, so we popped over there for a look around. I spotted that Minnie and Daisy were on a meet and greet, so off we went to find them....
As we were debating what to do next, an announcement came that the cartoon characters would be arriving - at exactly the spot we were at. Out came several floats, with the chipmunks, Goofy, Pluto and Lilo. The girls were in their element!! They got autographs from the Chipmunks (all 3), Lilo and Pluto, though Pluto was being a bit annoying and messing around, flitting from one place to another-eventually they both got an autograph though. the Chipmunks were great fun, messing about with the children's hats and making them all giggle.
By this point they had got more autographs in one day than in all the other days we had been there over 2 trips put together!
DH wanted to see Stitch Live, but having sat through one show, I wasn't sure. Anyway he persuaded me, so in we went. What a great decision! It was one of the best things we did on the trip, I was amazed at how clever it was and the girls loved it too. As we left the show, the cartoon floats had arrived again, only this time Stitch was with Lilo. 'Look he's on the float now because we just found him in there!!' they exclaimed-magic! (if you haven't seen the show the 'plot' is that Stitch has gone missing and the audience have to help to find him and return him to Lilo).
Back over to the MK as still a few things we wanted to do there. We went round the maze for the first time, then headed back to Autopia. Not only was it running again, the queue was tiny! We jumped on and had a ball!! DDs loved being able to
, though have to say DD2 was an absolute nutter - told her no way would I be getting in a car with her when she's older
We all had so much fun we ended up riding it 3 times in a row and would have probably had a fourth go if they hadn't closed it for the night!
Back onto Buzz again, then dinner at Colonel Hathi's, which we enjoyed. It was not far off closing time so was quiet, we liked the decor and the pasta made a nice change for me (being veggie can be a challenge over there when doing counter service-nice to have a change from omlette burgers!)
We then headed to POTC. Happily for us it was a walk on. Not so happily for me I soon discovered there were a few 'drops' along the ride-it was about my limit being the coaster chicken that I am
Was fun though and would go on it again-I think!
I was determined to go on IASW-queues had been long all day, but by this point they were minimal. We went round once, got off, queued again-after the second go round there was no-one waiting to get on our boat, so we were allowed to stay on it again! Needless to say we were singing the song for the rest of the night
We managed a couple of rides on the teacups too, before, exhausted we decided to call it a night. We had a little look around the Christmas stalls by the village before DD2's feet couldn't take any more
Another great day with lots of firsts again (Buzz, Autopia, Stitch, Lion King, maze...), we collapsed into bed tired but happy......
