Freezing Foods

Can someone tell me if you can freeze milk, cheese and lunch meat?

I freeze cheese all the time. I have a FoodSaver and it keeps it sealed tightly.

Milk is a definite yes, just defrost in the refrigerator until the ice crystals are all gone and shake it well.
I have frozen hot dogs and baloney with success.

for sure! Just be sure to let the milk thaw all the way and then shake it well before you use it .. cheese can get a little crumbly when you freeze it. But if you plan to shred it anyway its no problem. We freeze bologna and ham all the time.. I dunno about turkey though. It might get grainy.

Before you freeze milk make sure you pour a little out as it will expand in the freezer. Also beware that although you can freeze milk it dosn't taste the same after, it will seperate in the freezer and you have to shake it after it's thawed and it never seems to taste the same. But if the sale is good enough it's worth freezing.

Lunch meats freeze well, but don't last over 6 months and then it just goes bad. Hard cheese freezes really well cream cheese not so much.

How long does the milk keep once defrosted?

The milk will keep for as long as it had days left before you froze it. If it was going to only last 4 more days when you froze it then it will last 4 days after you freeze it. Makes sense, right?

We've done this when we go to WDW. Freeze our milk before we leave and then when we come home take it out of the freezer at night and put it in the fridge. Ready to use for breakfast the next a.m. And nice and icy cold too!

We've had milk freeze, by accident, at WDW, and it has been kinda nice to hove it so cold.
