On that same idea - check your local musuems, zoo's etc. Roger Williams Zoo in Providence on Sundays till Halloween (I think it's 11am-2pm) any child in costumes gets admitted in free & they have trick or treating stations set up. We did this last year and the kids had a BLAST! We got candy, water bottles, a pillow case, a yo-yo, play dough, and things for mom & dad too (small items like magnets, shopping lists, chip clips)
